One thing that is so good about this channel is that its fast paced and I don't have to skip through the video a lot like other train spotters who ramble about something for a whole hour before looking at the train. Great job Will!
hi will it's matt here the one that meet u at southern cross on the ballarat shuttle steam special, i first saw u at a station on the derm special, the first one to merinda, then i saw u again at moorobark on the lilydale shuttle trip, it was a pleasure to meet u will i'll watch your monthly reports & other videos on your channel, till next time cheers buddy
Only just subscribed Will, after seeing your black 38 Class loco review. Know a little about our Queensland locos, and about NSW locos, but catching up on Victorian Railways locos. Leo Oberg's book filled me in on your A2 4-6-0 1907ff express passenger loco. Looks so stable on broad gauge, and marvellous chime whistle (no music which was appreciated). Historically speaking, there is one loco that always fascinated me growing up, the very famous Spirit of Progress which apparently was a 1928 S-class 4-6-2 pacific in fancy dress. None preserved apparently and I've never seen a HO model of this famous 'crack' loco with its sleek blue coaches. You'd think it would be a very popular 'train set'. Back to reality, it's wonderful Will that your State has several preserved steam and diesel broad gauge locos with tracks to run on. John (Brisbane area).
In the seventies Hornby produced an evaluation model of a streamlined S for future production. However their other Australian new tooling of the time, for an S and GM diesel, was soon outsold by superior Lima models that were also less expensive. Hornby then gave up on making and tooling Australian models. I will soon attach a link to a vid giving the basics of every locomotive owned by the Victorian Railways up until about 1988.
The V/Line Power Parade video : ua-cam.com/video/U49NDi28OW0/v-deo.html Cannot find any railway system with coverage as comprehensive as this. Some of the comments note a few errors and how it missed out on non locomotive subjects like railcars.
In HO some now very expensive models of the streamlined and unstreamlined S in brass from Korea or China were made for Broad Gauge Models, Trainbuilder and a very complicated kit by Steam Era Models. All hard to get now. A lot of experience needed for the kit.
Thanks John! Yes the A2 certainly looks and sounds great running on the mainline! The S is still available in HO from Trainbuilder (however it’s brass and has a price tag to match)! Thank you again for watching!
I was on the Good Friday shuttle to Bendigo, after coming from Bendigo for the trip. I absolutely loved it and was really surprised how fast we made it to Castlemaine that day. I'm planning on trying to make the Melbourne to Ballarat trip next month if work allows me though. I really loved the video and how well you presented it, I'll be looking forward to seeing you next video in Bendigo. Keep up the great work Will
Always want to do content like this here in WA. but there is just nothing. we only have HVR. and that is it. of course we have miniature railways but that isn't the same.
Another great video dude. Hey have you ever spoken to steamrail about ever being able to make a vid from up in the cab? You would think they would be more than happy to be part of your channel.
Thanks Chris! I can only imagine what an awesome experience that would be. However I believe it does require some (a lot) of paperwork and red tape to make that kind of thing happen on a mainline trip! If people keep supporting the videos I’ll hopefully have enough to do the driver experience at VGR and I’ll make a video on that!
Thanks Mr Will !
Thank you mate!

No problem! What do you use to edit your videos?
Excellent, I can see a lot of thought has gone into the camera set ups and editing, the imagery is beautiful. Very enjoyable, thank you.
Always trying to improve the videos Lee! Thanks for taking the time to watch them!
Awesome video Will, remember some people lack common sense
Thanks Jordy! Yes it’s some incredibly irresponsible behavior
@@WillJamesRailways people normally associate that behaviour with rail enthusiasts like us but majority of the time, it's the general public

Ah That’s a pity there isn’t anymore mainline steam trips! We’ve been very lucky here to still have them!
@@WillJamesRailways Yeah, but from what i have read. Rail heritage WA, wants to run GM1 with heritage runs.

Hey will are you going to do a video on the EMRC great train show that happened last weekend?
Yes it’s all been shot, the edit is behind a few other videos, but it will be released eventually!
