Chris Simms, that’s my aunt!! So cool to know she has a bigger fan club than just me. This is awesome!!! Also kind of heartwarming to know you and I’m sure others were worried about her well being 😊😊
Sweet! :) Your Aunt had a lot of talent as a voice actress, Absolutely loved the peppy energetic nature she had with a majority of her performances: it always made her characters stand out in a positive way to me.
WHAAAT!! That's so cool! I Wish I had an aunt that played a legendary character in a historical piece of media! I hope she's living the best life she can!
Hello hello! It is I one of the reasons Chris Simms left VA. I'm her son. Haha! Oh my goodness was this video awesome! My mother loved it. And so did my cousin and dad who I believe you have replied to! Its spreading like wildfire around our house lol! She appreciates the love and respect. Funnily enough she was the only one in our house who didn't catch the Coronavirus. She absolutely loved the model and card at the end of the video! I'd love to answer any questions about being her son and what I know about her career. But anyways, great job! This video is awesome and my mom appreciates all the love and curiosity!
Really happy to hear she's alright, and even happier to hear she got a kick out of my lil' video and gift at the end. Genuinely still fuzzy inside after yesterday, knowing I actually managed to reach out to her in the end at all. There's not a whole lot I can or want to ask, especially since I want to respect her privacy since she's been so hard to find any info about. (I really don't want to come off as invasive) though I am curious if she knew the character she played had all these different depictions and incarnations in terms of dubbing. Heck, that's kind of what I talked partly about in this very video with the first half, The original 1999 Di Gi Charat series was definitely wacky. lol
@@HeyItsMilkman I guess the only other thing I can ask is what her current occupation is these days, just without any specific company names or locations. Simply refraining from asking for anything like photos or voice recordings as much as I'd be interested to because, as I said before: I really don't want to come off as invasive (I'm honestly a really shy wreck just typing this lol) and the latter I don't even think can happen as a lot of other voice actors I've talked to in my lifetime said they can't record any fan lines or requests likely do to NDA's, even if said contract was likely over a decade ago. So I know the rules and boundaries and really don't intend to push it unless I'm told otherwise and even then I really don't want any super-personal information or whatever. I'm pretty grateful enough with just knowing we got to talk in some form.
@@SuperMarioFan123311 Ur good man! As far as acting goes, she often directs and acts in local community plays! Though it is small compared to what she used to do, it still is acting. She has another job but currently in acting wise she co-owns her own drama/acting club, S.U.C.H Drama! I'm getting the answer to your first question now!
@@SuperMarioFan123311 She had absolutely no idea about the different versions of Dejiko and the mysteries. She took the job, watched the original, and did the job. Again she appreciates your concern, wonders, and curiosity a ton!
Hey there! Well let Me first say this. Chris Simms is My wife. We were just sent this video from someone you contacted. She had no idea she had any “fans” and is incredibly humbled by this video. She started voice acting years ago and when our family life changed she just kind of stopped. There was no particular reason why other than the fact our family grew and we moved further from the city. She absolutely loved this video. If you have any questions she’d be happy to answer them! Thanks for brightening her day!!
It warms my heart and gives me great relief to hear this actually reached out to her. I honestly was running out of hope that she'd even still be around at all, with friends of mine even questioning if she was still alive. I'm super happy to hear all is well, all I really am curious about is how she felt voicing such a particular character like Dejiko: Especially considering Di Gi Charat was far more niche and almost unheard of by the time she dubbed for the series. (Broccoli, the owners of the IP actually would have their US division go bankrupt and stop localizing it around 2008) It's kind of crazy how so many different people tried to bring her to life in the west and only as of recently has it really gotten more of a notable english fanbase. :) Even though Nyo's dub was super short-lived and left unfinished, I can't help but hear that incarnation of the character without her voice these days. Helps it was my favorite version of Di Gi Charat, as well. On a smaller note: I also am somewhat curious if the pronunciation of the "e" the character's localized name was deliberate or accidental, As her original Japanese name was quite literally "Digiko", and the pronunciation stayed the same for the other two dubs of Di Gi Charat (The original series and Panyo respectively)
Chris loves voice acting and would love getting back into it again. And I can tell you, Dejikos’ voice is very very similar to her natural speaking voice. As far as the “E” and “I” sounds in the pronunciation of the name, she recalls that as just being a directors decision and was requested by the client. This was the first time we have actually seen any of her work on the show! We searched everywhere for the DVDs of her past work and have only ever found “Fancy Lala”, “G-Gundam”, Mega Man x8 and Crimson Tears games, Although We lost some of those in our last move. I did buy the mega man collection on Steam though. Chris loved voicing the character. I think that was the last character she ever voiced. These words are from her, she’s right beside Me. “ I was really excited to play her. It was My first “lead” role and she was feisty, loud and bossy. It was so fun.” I gotta tell you, this made my families week! You’ll probably see some comments from my son as well. Lol.
@@00Slevin The folks at Lucas Gilbertson's discord server (I mentioned him in the video, He currently is working on his own little video game and he voiced Gema in Nyo's dub) are equally as pleasantly surprised to hear from her and wanted me to send their regards. ^^ imgur.com/i6qXPXN

Glad to hear! I think you really captured Dejiko's smugness in weird way. I was the one who also sent this on LinkedIn a while back; wasn't sure if you knew other people had taken up the same character role in other adaptations. ;3
Damn, your Dejiko model looks so nice!! I'm kinda new in the DiGi Charat fandom (joined in December) so I don't know that much about what's behind the series.. even less with the so little content we have right now- I'm barely finding all the OVAs xD So this video was pretty cool for me to watch, I hope more stuff like this comes out since it seems the fandom it's getting back thanks to Reiwa :"D
this video takes me back to when I watched the english dub of nyo! on a now-deleted youtube channel, which was so hilariously bad that it made an already entertaining anime even more enjoyable IMO as for the video itself, it was an interesting watch, and it was also indirectly how I found out that nyo! got an official release of its soundtrack, as I decided to search for it after hearing it in this video and found a complete rip of it on the internet archive
I never had the chance to see Nyo, but I did watch a little bit of Ponyo Ponyo. As someone who already liked kids shows it appealed to me, but I doubt it was very popular with the OG fanbase. I feel like quitting VA work once you have a family is probably a pretty common occurrence. Some people come into that line of work through Stage Acting or local Improv groups, and if you're not landing a ton of popular roles it's probably not very lucrative. Especially if you have other mouths to feed! Given the time frame it also wouldn't surprise me if she just wasn't very Plugged In to Internet Stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Simms had a personal Facebook profile to keep up with relatives, but that's probably it. It would also be under a different name if Chris Simms is a stage name. I could be totally wrong though! But that's my read on the situation.
Where do you watch di gi charat Nyo cuz I have all the dvds except for vol 5 I would love to watch the episodes from that volume cuz I can’t find it anywhere cuz nyo is my favorite di gi charat show
