I just purchased 4 bags of Milorganite for my yard it was $18.98 per bag at Walmart. One thing I have learned, is that you have to stock up now otherwise, it will be sold out for the duration of the summer. Just an FYI
I have been telling a buddy of mine about milorganite for years. He kept blowing me off. Last year he finally tried it, now he's hooked. One day they'll listen 😂
I used to buy 6 bags at the beginning and end of the season. Then my local homedepot and lowes stop carrying it for some reason. I called milorganite and asked what was going on. They said there was a shortage and should be back on the shelves. I have yet to see them restocked them. It's been about over 3 years. I have switched to what the professional golf care maintenance crew uses. It has 15% of nitrogen. So, without doing any work to the yard, it came out of dormancy with a dark green. I wish I could post a picture.
We know nothing about lawn care. We live in the Dallas Fort Worth area. This past winter was brutal on our lawn and trees. The lawn look spotty, thin, and just horrible. Is this a good product to use in Texas?……. When should It be applied ( now or summer)?
I don’t know the science behind this but every year I use Scott’s weed and feed than one month later I just put a bag of 13-13-13 on my yard n I have the thickest greenest yard in the area.
Milo just isn’t worth it anymore. We need our UA-camr lawn care heroes to find us the next great slow release “organic” fert that’s easier on the wallet.
@@380stroker it’s NOT organic . You won’t burn your lawn with much cheaper sources of Nitrogen if you don’t over apply . Stick with Urea . Dont get caught up in the Milo and yard mastery hype. Do some research and thank me later
Wrong, I’ve used them all and milorganite if used enough and properly will green your lawn better than any. Mine is literally dark blue/green in Michigan right now
@@marcusush517 I agree. there are cheaper sources for N, but Milo servers a purpose for a certain lawn. A 50lb of straight urea might not be the solution for most.
That Milorganite alternative thats at Lowe's that you told us about last year went up in price a lot. I may end up going back to Milorganite this season.
I just bought a bag and put it down about a week ago and man oh man my lawn has never looked better just after seven days im real impressed definitely will stock up this summer while the price is still somewhat reasonable but a great product
Milorgante goes on sale around now for $9.99.. Home Depot will do a price match if you show the the on line flier... --- I forgot to mention that it's fleetfarm that carries it, and their sale price around now is $6.99
With the square footage of my yard which is at 10,000 sq ft it takes too many bags of Milo to cover just one application and the size of the fert itself is small it just pisses out of the spreader. And be changed the setting so it doesn’t come out as fast but then I think it’s not getting enough in the lawn. I only use it now for a summer application because I switched to PGF complete , not premergents just feed it and spot treat weeds then overseed in the fall
I have a little over 20,000 sq ft. Four bags last me the entire year. I set my Scott’s spreader on 5 and my lawn greens up like pepper 🫑 all the time. 👍🏾
Your neighbor should hire you, I know I would or I'd be asking questions. Milorganite may be hard to find in September but I bet the price is better. Walmart will move it to make way for Halloween stuff but Homedepot and others may stock it plus we can use the radius search to find supply at nearby stores or ask them to ship it to a local store for free.
Im using Milorganite for the first time this year. Recommended by my local nursery for recently installed bushes and new grass sections. Curious about the results.
welp that store big box store bought may work but I'm gonna put you guys on something....Humic acid. Improves nutrient uptake, water retention just overall health of the lawn bro. I always appreciate a brotha who takes pride in taking care of his sht. thank me later hahaha! good luck. by the way beautiful home also
Always water 💦 in any fertilizer for best results. That product won’t activate until watered in and then it will release slowly. If you put this on a dry lawn for a month, you won’t get any results like you will when you water it in.
Works great for what it is, works great on cool season grass when I fertilize in December and February. Keeps your grass healthy without a lot of growth in late fall, winter time in central NC.
This is great info! I’m new to this whole DIY lawncare and I’m determined to get my Bermuda looking beautiful! What are your thoughts on PGF Complete Fertilizer it’s supposedly professional grade and I was about to click buy in my Amazon cart before this popped up 😂
Great video! Applied this last month. Grass has never been greener or thicker. My wife loves it. May not work for everyone but great for my lawn. Apply different fertilizer ratios in spring and fall.
I saw a video or 2 today that claimed epsom salt will make your lawn a darker green along with Iron. I thought it was a joke initially but found one other vid with epsom salt application along with the product in this video I believe. Thoughts?

Nice video! Tks. Couple of comments and questions. I've heard (everyone has their own opinion) that Milorganite should be applied 2x (double) as much as the bag says. So you really should apply 2 bags for 2,500 sq ft. I've used it for the past 5 years. But this year I want to try something different. Any recommendations?
