Scrap metal: my favorite subject....I bought my welding hat at our local Cal Ranch store. Amazon has them too, and all welding supply shops carry them.
Good stuff man. I don't throw any scrap out. I love figuring out stuff to make out of scrap. I just made a 4"break out of scrap and it's bad ass. My buddy has a laborer crew and he's always dropping off random scrap. A welding cart is next on the hit list.
I like that cart young man. The box section with the hook on is a great idea for your Mig leads. I might do the same for my cart so my plasma leads are up and out of the way. Your cart is going be unique and very strong welds need. Top regards, Jon.
I have a brand new wire feed in the box I've been trying to use the last two years man it's been that bad... I'm gonna need a cool cart for it. Good ideas
Hey! great cart. I have a big head too adn I got lucky on eBay, got me a couple of 7 5/8" "Us Welder" brand welding hats. They're very good and they don't give you a headache.
Hey man. Thumbs up on your build. I was aiming for something a little different then a square Box when I built mine too. You asked about welding hats, what I did is get one of my old fitted sports team hats and cut off the bill at the stitches. It actually fits perfect since it was already broken in. Good luck!

Awesome job on that cart! The welding cap issue, I have same problem. But I learned you can just stretch the cap out by basically pulling it apart as if you're going to rip it.
Thanks for that slice and bend trick. Small gaps are easy to weld up than having to cut small pieces. That welder is bad ass. My hobby one needs to be thrown in the trash!

If you know some union welders there always seems to be one that has a wife who sews up nice hats on the side, thats where I always got mine since I am in a different trade that only occasionally welds.
Try turning your heat up more. 7018 is really hard to start but if u turned up the heat and get a feel for it then u can turn it back down to 200 amps 👍

Amazon Shopping has a great selection of sizes for welding caps, I can’t find one locally that fits my head size either but Amazon has them

Roedis welding caps they are flexable and thinner material but still last a long time I use them on the pipeline and they are my favorite

I can weld and do most body work if you need a guy...I'm trying to move lol..I'm allgood just had to say idk if I mentioned that before
the trolly turned out really sweet and that yes welder turned out some nice beads just a shame about the user🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hey buddy I'm using a 220 arc e7018 rods at max 200 amps and I can't get the bead going. 6011 s work geat at 115 amps but I dont know why
Try turning your heat up more. 7018 is really hard to start but if u turned up the heat and get a feel for it then u can turn it back down to 200 amps 👍
