    Hello Sam! I think the reason the mower cant follow the side of the house could be because the mower and the base station cant "see" the same GPS satelites. The base station does all the fancy calculations for each satelite it can see and then transmits that to the mower. If the mower and the base station cant see the same satelites, that could be a reason for the inaccuracy.
    You can always try to move your base station to the corner of the house next to your neighbour and see if it helps?
    For GPS accuracy in Sweden you generally want your mower and base station to have free sight to the sky in the south direction (where it can see the most GPS satelites). So if the edge it struggles with is on the north side of your house, it will be hard to solve, because your house naturally blocks most of the satellites. In fact, the mower could even be reading the GPS signal bouncing of your neighbours house which is consistent with it moving into your housewall!
    Some landsurveyors are also lawn nuts! :)

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  8 місяців тому +2

      Hey Kristian, thanks for the input, never really considered that since the app said the position of the base station was fine, but it seems like this could be the issue, sounds reasonable. I think I´ll try to move it this season and see if it works better, appreciate the feedback!
      Btw, this counts as a mower video right???? 😅😉

      That's pretty much what I was going to say. If it cuts so great everywhere else and that one area isn't so great, it has to be reception and what kind of line of sight the device has with satellites and the RTK unit. I'm assuming if the satellites are to the south, the RTK unit would be best utilized on the north side of the building to help cover locations with fewer satellites connections. This is one reason geofencing for dog collars isn't such a great idea.

      Hey Mate, for sure, I have those days too. I liked it especially after fertilization, fertilizer on rye grass = crazy growth, can´t keep up with the mowing myself, enter Luba :)

    • @Troy-Echo
      @Troy-Echo 7 місяців тому

      @@SamsLawn Zoysia is a great cure for that. I can throw down fertilizer and not mow for 2-3 weeks and my grass never gets over 5 to 6 inches tops. It grows kind of slow, and doesn't have a very tall max height. The stolons and rhizomes spread and spread, and the blade growth with the horizontal roots is just so thick it blocks out most weeds. It's not quite a dark green as Rye, but it's worth it. My two favorite compliments were some 9 year old twins playing in the front yard with my daughter when she was 10 and they just commented how much they loved playing in my yard because it was so soft to fall on and roll on, and this very pretty lady that used to walk her dogs past my house was walking along looking at her phone one day and all the sudden she turned and quickly snapped a photo of my lawn. She didn't realize I work from home full time and my lawn is my full time view from my office...which is why I planted it to start with. Another great thing about Zoysia (and likely other warm season grasses) is there's less moisture in the blades of grass so it doesn't stick to the mower deck. Not at all.

    Hi Sam,
    Any reason to buy the Luba 2 instead of Luba 1? I think I can buy a used one from second hand website for about a EUR 1100. Worth it instead of brandnew one for more than double?
    I have two lawn areas which are not connected. Therefore it is the first time I consider buying such a mawer.
    Thanks for you comment in advance.

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  7 днів тому

      Hey Mathias,
      I have not tried the Luba 2 so I can´t really say if it´s worth the upgrade. But the Luba 1 was awesome in my opinion. From what I understand from Mammotion themselves, the Luba 2 has a camera on it so it´s less vulnerable to signal losses, it can still navigate even if it loses connection to the RTK station. So I would say, if you have a pretty clear area without many trees and things in the way of the RTK station then the Luba 1 will work just fine. I still think it will work fine even with a few obstacles but it might give you some head ache from time to time due to signal loss. Especially if you get a good price like that, then paying more than twice that for a Luba 2 might be a bit overkill. Let me know what you decide mate and how it works out. Good luck!

    Loosing GPS signal under trees or close to the house or between houses is a problem for all GPS/RTK robots. The solution is to fall back to gyroscope, vision, and stored map upon loss of GPS. Eventually, once vision and gyroscope are perfected, there will be no need for GPS or RTK or perhaps it will only be needed as periodic error correction. The only point that needs to be known is the recharge location. Everything else is just a coordinate from that point. I think that this transition will be accomplished over the next 5 years. It is important to note that Lidar has too many limitations. Vision processing is the future.

    Är lite kluven att köpa en Automower med Nera/Epos eller en Luba 2 AWD 3000.
    Vad är din känsla, kommer man bli nöjd med Luban?
    Det som lockar är att den är ca 25% billigare, klarar större lutningar och större område (3000kvm vs 2200kvm) än den Husqvarna jag tittat på.
    Men Husqvarna är verkligen veteranen och trendsättare inom robotgräsklippare.

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  8 місяців тому

      Tjena, förstår absolut att du är kluven, hade jag också varit. Tar man Husqvarna så vet du ju absolut vad du köper och det är ett märke man kan lita på. Tror någonstans att både de här är i toppsegmentet vad gäller robotar och då är det småsaker och smaksak som gör skillnaden. Jag har aldrig testat en Husqvarna så jag kan tyvärr inte säga något om dem, men jag tycker Luban är grym, har man möjlighet att ha stationen helt mot öppen himmel så tror jag inte ens man kommer ha några problem med GPS trackingen som jag hade vid några tillfällen. Dock ska man också ha i åtanke att den enda jämförelsen jag kan göra är mot min Gardena R50li som jag köpte för 7 år sen, ALLA robotar är ju nästan ett steg upp mot den, då den var äldre och hade inte så många finesser.
      Kanske ett för diplomatiskt och tråkigt svar men jag kan bara säga att jag är jättenöjd med min Luba :)

    Hej! Funderar på att köpa denna så jag har en slänt på ca 30 grader. Enligt spec klarar denna upp till 38 grader, dock kan man inte lämna tillbaka efter öppnad förpackning om den inte skulle klara av det....Kan du rekommendera denna? har läst lite kommentarer ang. appen och mjukvaran som upplevs buggig etc.

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  4 місяці тому

      Tjena,
      Jag tycker den var grym, jag har faktiskt provat 3 andra klippare i år och ingen av dem klarade av samma slänt som den här gjorde i videon. Vet inte om den klarar din MEN kan säga såhär, om inte den här klarar det så tror jag inte någon annan gör det heller. De flesta andra väger för lite så de får inte fäste, den här väger ganska mycket. Dessutom har den 4WD. Om det är torrt tror jag den klarar det utan några problem faktiskt.
      Sen angående appen håller jag med att den kan vara lite buggig, men det var de andra klipparnas app också. Skillnaden som jag upplevt är att Mammotion är ganska snabba på att skicka ut en fix, de andra är långsammare. Iaf av de jag testat.

      @@SamsLawn I appreciate your response and I agree, it would be a lot of work. I was asking b/c my lawn is mostly surrounded by trees so there isn't a clear view of the sky for the RTK signal. • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  6 місяців тому +1

      @@eturn23 I think I saw some reviews of the new models with camera and RTK who did pretty well around areas with trees, but of course as you say I think wired would be the safer option. If you do not do a lot of scarifying, core aerating then you don´t need to worry about the wires to be honest. Also, do not put the guide cable in the middle as all the instructions say you need to do, put it right next to one of the perimeter wires and that way you always know where it is, much simpler and works just as good.

      Hey mate, It depends on the type of mowing you chose. If you chose fine cutting with double passes, then I can do almost all my 190 m2, almost. I would say about 160m2 before it has to go back to charge. If you do simple cutting with only one pass then it does my lawn and my neighbours, so about 500 m2 with no pausing and also has battery to spare. So it does a big difference which cutting mode you chose. If you have a larger lawn then the models with bigger batteries would be better I think.
