I like how your reviews appear to me honest and not just out to get affiliate link money. (I'll still click your links if I need to order something else though) ;)
I want to mention my experience with redcat customer support. They were awsome. Replaced a faulty servo at no cost. And sent me extra 4wd dogbones when I bent them I paid for 2 and received 4. If it is under warranty they take care of you
I have had one for a few months and just bought a second one so I can have one modded and one stock to compare. I love it. Super durable and insane power. Have had no major issues. Only break has been the steering rack and the crosspin on the wheelie bar. No issue with the spur gear if you make sure the grub screw on the pinion is snug. I think people who had issues had it loose or had dirt/rocks get in there. I have not had that problem at all though.. Easy enough to rig a gasket or some hot glue to seal that diff, but again - have not had a problem myself. I think 3/5 design and 2/5 durability is a little harsh score, as it is the easiest to work on and most durable one I own. Have not had issues with the outdrives either. I might take a guess that always running 6S and not cleaning and performing regular maint could be the issue... I run 5S most of the time and always clean after a run. Air gun out all the dirt and gravel, etc.. It definitely is not a 2 for durability. I have launched it, tumbled it, crashed it, roof slides, you name it. It is a tank. Parts are readily available now and there are hop ups about to be released. Is it perfect? No. But it is better than this review makes it sound.
So he did say the value is outstanding... which I definitely agree with. If anyone is still on the fence - keep an eye out for the hop ups to be released or look for tips on how to address the few small weaknesses.
Great comment. I'm always going back and forth about this car and sometimes I think reviewers can be a little harsh. However if it's good enough for you to buy 2 it's got to be worthwhile. I have a blackout xte pro and it's been great! This seems far better and a big step up.
I'm fortunate enough to have bought one from a friend for $200. It came with three batteries and a charger. He forgot to bring the cord that goes to a wall outlet.
@@johnlujan8706 Nice! Mine is still going strong with a few of the upgraded parts. Have not broken anything for a long time and have been running it hard, jumps, flips, etc. The second one is still in the box, untouched, since the old one is still rockin. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do.
Any chance you want to share the tweaks? Mine just arrived yesterday. Need to search for a motor fan that fits this. And thinking about what I can do help seal that bottom area to try and avoid dirt getting into the gears. Came with a bit of a flimsy dust cover to go over the top area.
NOT "that" fragile. For someone who's never ran anything rc, OR a kid (that shouldn't have anything 4s+ driving), anything is fragile. I've had mine day 2 when they 1st came out. I bought all "normally breaking" parts & more, & have yet to break the 1st part. Other than a plastic servo horn (stupid idea redcat!). Replaced it with aluminum & its bulletproof! 4s & 5s (5s is THE best! All the power of 6s, more speed). As with anything & anyone, just MY opinion of a nice rtr truck.
I'm really interested on how well this vehicles long-term durability holds up with 4s-use only. This could possibly bump up the durability score significantly and then the kaiju would be an absolute awesome vehicle.
What would your guess be on what shock oil weight they use?cant dind it anywhere but the stock setup is perfect so I'm trying to keep the same weight in the shocks
@@RazorRC I'm going to try 80wt and gold springs, along with moving the lower shock mount to the outer hole on all 4 corners. I'm not going to buy a widemaxx kit. If that doesn't fix the chassis slap and the controllability, I'm selling this truck. Also, I wonder if there's a mod to put sway bars on the MAXX? I enjoy running my cheap $300 Rival MT10 over this truck. Looks like Red Cat recently beefed up the upper control arms significantly on the Kaiju, so it is probably tougher now (according to Earl Moorhead). I'm at a lost, RAZOR... but your videos surely do help significantly. Keep doing what you're doing!

Just spent 200 on upgrade parts..well worth it..this thing is better than the outcast hands down.

I love my Kaiju after like a year of owning it. I did a few easy tweaks to it and it's a very durable and fun truck 👍

I just bought one yesterday from a friend. He didn't have anywhere to run it. I'm going to enjoy ripping around with it.
Great review man! I love my Redcat Kaiju!
I think I will try and use some silicone to seal up that center cover if I get one of these. This truck looks amazing overall though
I own this rig it’s a beast out the box have to have in your fleet👊🏾✌🏽
Only problem I've had is the plastic servo horn on the steering
Do u feel this is redcats best rc yet?

i haven't broke anything on mine either. and there isn't a rig out that won't break if you "send it".
THIS
Your claim of 5S having all of the power is defied by science. 6S is greater voltage than 5S, thereby having more power.
P=I*V.
You're welcome.
This thing really caught my eye, too bad the new one looks like crap!
Excellent review as always! What did you think of it versus the Maxx?
I’ll let you know! 👊😄🥳
Which is more fun... Kaiju or Maxx?
What truck is more reliable at this level then?
I'm really interested on how well this vehicles long-term durability holds up with 4s-use only. This could possibly bump up the durability score significantly and then the kaiju would be an absolute awesome vehicle.
This is exactly my thought! I'll probably keep it at 4s and I wouldn't try it at 6s without a different spur.
I alternate between 4 and 6 and haven't had issues for the past year.
Excellent review👍👍
Thanks!
Idk if I heard right is the kaiju made by the same people that makes the team associated rival
What would your guess be on what shock oil weight they use?cant dind it anywhere but the stock setup is perfect so I'm trying to keep the same weight in the shocks
I would guess 35wt
I should have bought this instead of the MAXX.
they're both good -- the Kaiju is faster and handles better, the Maxx is more durable.

@@drw-007 thanks, I need to do a more in depth review of this truck with all of the updates... stay tuned!
3.99 to 4.49 still worth the money
looks just like the hellion avenge mt10
You jus talked me out of it!! I rate redcat cars bout 7.5 out of 10.. u get wat u pay for
Talked you out of it?? That's too bad. Its a great truck!! I haven't heard much negative from owners from this and im no different.
Chris Watson cool
@@cwatson42785 I love mine after like a year of owning it. A few little tweaks and it's a very durable truck.
@@joseCalderon1976 Yes for sure! Can you share and upgrades or tips you did? Or maybe did you ever do a overview video of it by chance?
Thunder tiger is the name
Plastic Spur.... Omg.. Come on Red cat.. That's ridiculous... Especially on a 6s truck... SMH
second
Was going to buy, now I’m not thank you
