AWESOME rescue Ziggy and well done on saving these Cristate cacti from the rotting dragon fruit stock, I can never understand why they use dragon fruit as a root stock as its so cold sensitive and a weak stock for cactus grafting, its going to be wonderful to see these Cristate cacti growing on their own roots, thanks so much for sharing the fantastic de grafting with us, I hope you are keeping warm, it dropped to -5c last night here in Belfast brrrrr, thankfully the heater in the poly managed to keep the air temp inside there around the 4 -5c, Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Jackie lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXX
Yep, never any good came from chasing the dragon 😲🐉 We had a phorbia that the same thing happened to years ago. Frozen solid outside, the 1000 litre rain barrels have got glaciers oozing out of them but it's 5c in the cactus house 🙂 Glad your poly heater is working. Ta for having a look, hope you and Hans have a warm evening 😊😊🌵🌵
Nicely done, Ziggy 😊 Dragon fruit really is probably the worst stock to graft onto. I dont why it was ever done and why it's still being done today. There's much better stock that can be used and of course the scions you have do pretty well on their own roots. Thank you for sharing with us my friend. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌺🌸🏜
Ta Daz 🙂They probably do it for dramatic effect rather than for actual reasons 🙄Ta for having a look my friend, hope you and Edith have a lovely evening 😊😊🌵🌵
Hi cactus Ziggy, these are so beautiful, I love looking at them all, they are like little people 😃 and you do so well in sharing all of the info about them :) ~ Anna 👍
Thanks for rescuing these cacti!🌵 so the cuttings just hibernate ( so to speak) over winter! Needing no water? And they will go into grit first to encourage rooting? It’s quite amazing!👍
I had to, couldn't just leave them there to be lobbed into the compost 😲 Yep, as Scottie described them, like batteries 😎 Ta for having a look Diana 😊😊🌵🌵

I have to admit I'm not a fan of grafted cacti though I understand the reasons behind. Good rescue mission 😊
I couldn't see why they'd done these ones, they have their own chlorophyll 🤔 Ta for having a look 😊😊🌵🌵
Great video surgeon ziggy 😊
Doctor arrives with knife and baggage..
Sees the growth as just so much cabbage
That now
Must be cut away.
Tee hee 😊Ta Danny 🙂🙂🌵🌵
@@1neAdam12 Good summary Adam 🙂
Nice work Ziggy.
Cheers Steve 🙂 I mentioned you to our window cleaner from Denton today. He was asking if it was going to snow 😎
@1:12 It's pronounced 'Scion'
You're welcome 😊
@7:42 Will the Monkey Tail develop the long White hairs, or are those a different species???
@@1neAdam12 Don't know Adam, I grew that one from seed and that's as far as it's got so far 🙂
