This is nice topic... I use to change the filter media when they became very dirty and don´t get out when i wash. I use ceramic media and Seachem Matrix. Great video.

Official WASABI Moderator: Dear Bruno. Yes, Seachem Matrix is a good choice. Rinse all the muck and it should last for years of usage.

      Does matrix replace carbon

My mom's 55 gallon aquarium has no filter, and also has such strong biological presence that you can watch a piece of carrot biodegrade into mulm over a single day, so I fully support the theory of bacteria colonizing all parts of the aquarium.

Hi, thanks for your videos all of them are very, very educative.
I am thinking about buying my first canister filter from aliexpress (Sunsun 603b) what do you think about it? Ehein filters are kinda of expensive...
I live in tokyo and would love to visit your shop one day, where is it located?
    thanks

Official WASABI Moderator: Dear Kaire, we are in Kyoto, so you can take the Shinkansen to Kyoto, then take JR to Takeda Station. We are only only 14 minute walk from there. Our shop is located 5 Chome−4, Fukakusa Nishiuracho, Japan, Fushimi Ward, 612-0029, Kyoto. We cannot comment on the effectiveness or reliability of the Sunsun 603b. Please make sure you buy with warranty, just in case.

Thank you, I will be definetely visiting next time I go to Kyoto.
I'm using a gex slim tytpe hang on back filter that uses cartridges and goingtochange for a canister soon, what is the proper way to cycle the canister filter when switching over?

@@KaireMl Official WASABI Moderator: You can add used filter media from your old Hang on Back Filter to the canister filter to start your bacteria culture. You can also use Green Bacter in your aquarium as well.

Official WASABI Moderator: Dear Tummala, if it is maintained (rinsed) correctly, it should last a long time.
