@StagnantExistance The one I talked about is more commonly known as overtone singing or Tuvan throat singing. As far as I know, the low style (kargyraa) uses false vocal cords. The throat singing in general is somewhat similar to harmonics achieved on instruments like a guitar. I am not an expert, though.
@Gandalf930 Everything depends on the manner. You can artificially achieve lower sounds, by means of mimics. If you sing with a wide open moth you will produce higher sounds as opposed to a "narrow" mouth. Unfortunately I do not know anything about Mongol throat singing, so I cannot comment on it. The same applies to "flageolet singing".
@StagnantExistance I thought so after hearing some extremely deep sounds coming from his throat... Maybe he also uses some kind of flageolet singing? I've heard a Mongol throat singing technique performed live recently, it sounded very similar...
