I work on a fishing guide boat out of a Ilwaco Washington and we use the Gerber processors on the boat. They’ve endured some hard use on the boat, I highly recommend.
Ok, I need to say you sold the skeletool like doodle. I’ve got several leathermans and it’s a go-to. Firstly, that was a new knife, it needs time to break in. After you break it in you can open and close it with one hand. Also, with the right grip, you can manipulate the pliers (open and shut) with one hand as well. Didn’t even mention the tool swapping feature. It has all the heavy use essentials and no fat. It’s perfect. You didn’t mess up too bad on the vid tho because I bought the Spyderco native 5 Salt for the water after watching. Dyed the scales black because the yellow was a bit obnoxious. Anyway, the skeletool crucial kit 🤙🏼
Another great video. Blade HQ always does such a great job with their videos and Kurt/Zac are really likeable guys. Kurt did a great job with this video.
Rather than using the skeletool I'd use the OHT2 because it's all one handed operation. The tools are all on the outside and the pliers slide out and are spring loaded.
Sorry. Instagram is an extension of Facebook and is owned by Zuckerberg. I refuse to have anything to do with him or any of his platforms. I suggest that BladeHQ do the same
I'm a super-minimalist tenkara fisherman......everything goes on a lanyard around my neck- line clippers and hemostat does it for me- no knife necessary when I'm actually in/on the water.
I wish Spyderco made a salt series knife with a partially serrated blade and a carabiner, this would be the perfect knife. I hate serrated blades but it is necessary on a fishing knife in my opinion.
My fishing knife needs to be able to filet a fish cut threw 1/3 inch thick bone and be able to cut open aluminum cans and be able to cut braded fishing line also at once
Is it just me or does it sound like they had a few beers (or maybe a j) before they shot this. It feels very "flying by the seat of their pants". Like "This is the knife. These are the bullet points I'm supposed to tell you about. It is this much on our website. Really great knife and a great deal".... then repeat lol
"Would you carry this huge filet knife while fly fishing?" Personally I'd be sporting that if I was cleaning a Whale or a Great White!!!!! As far as a Beaver, Brazilian is the way to go. She'll respect you for it! Ha Ha Ha
This video was blasphemy after the first spyderco. Wouldn't bring any of the other tools fishing. A skeletool? No. I love mine, but not for outdoor use at all. The mora was ok, but the grind is more for bushcraft.
Didn’t even show the case knife fisherman’s model. Those leather man with screw driver heads? What has screws to remove while fishing? Really disappointed with this episode. It sucked! Half the blades you show I would never buy.
Christopher Robinson had a boat motor fire a couple years ago and the leather man cut the wires and unscrewed the screws so that we could fix the situation before it got serious
I don't mean to point this out, but I believe Ben was intentionally left out of the Great Salt Lake video reference. I feel like that respects his ideals of moving on and going from "Ben from BladeHQ" back to good ol "Ben"
I fish for bass a lot and what I carry is my mini bugout with orange scales so if I drop it in the water or something I would have a better time finding it. I also carry a leatherman wave on my belt to get hooks out of fish and other things.
Good question! We paired with Courtney on this one and that was the platform that worked best for him. We did just do a UA-cam giveaway with WOW on Wednesday. Hope that helps clarify. 🤙
I've been taking the Native 5 Salt fishing for about a year now and it's fantastic in every application I've put it to. It's most definitely highly corrosion resistant, easy to touch up and takes a very sharp edge. Easily spotted on the bank and in the water. It's also my go-to summer knife in general. Pairs very well with the Siren or Caribbean for bigger jobs like cutting larger bait fish. 🔪🎣🗡
Sorry but sometimes my LM Skeletool caches rust just from being in my sweaty Jeans.. it's not for treatment in water I think .. (sorry for the English )
A sharpener, scissors, pliers and a linedriver are not fishing KNIVES! "Best Fishing Knives" is a fu..ing cllickbait! Thumb down! And it´s not "Görber" but "Gerber". And how can a sane person like the grip on that uggly Bubba? Not a single knife I would at least like to own in this collection.

Kurt! We’re fighting right now. It was my birfday during the last WOW and I needed a shoutout from the Hamsharks... tears. That floating Mora though. I don’t have a Mora yet and that just jumped right up the list lol. Hope you guys are doing well and staying safe! Thanks for keeping us entertained!
In theory that is probably true. We put an LC200N blade in salt water for 3 weeks and it didn't rust. The hardware on the knife was toast but the blade looked great.
I'm liking the multi tools, but as for the filet knives, I've always used a rapala, they're tried, true, and inexpensive, so they've always been my go to
@@Weavin01 I remember when Gerber made decent knives. Yep, I'm that old. It seems they are now marketing to the Bear Grylls crowd that likes the idea of spending time outdoors, but have no experience. I've bought some great products from Blade HQ and had a good experience. They lost a little credibility with this video.
@@Jaxon1776 Yeah man, same here. I carried a gator for the better part of the 90's, and one of the older multi tools. Yeah Ive noticed that unfortunate trend as well. On one hand, I dont fault BHQ for pushing any product they stock. On the other, this one lacks a bit of the honesty BHQ usually comes with when quality versus price tag is discussed.
Weavin good luck finding a knife made by Gerber that won’t rust like hell in a kayak for 12+hours a day or completely submerged for days. The salt serious spyderco makes is a must have for me when I’m out fishing. I know a good tool when I see one and Gerber just doesn’t make anything on par with spyderco
I'm 18 and a hardcore smallmouth bass fisherman. I just came back from a portage/fishing trip and I would like to give my 2 cents on fishing knives. I tend to carry my standard EDC when I'm fishing. you can see it in my profile pic
D2 for fishing? You’re braver than me lol but I always have to get in the water to get to my fishing spots(the good ones anyway) so d2 would rust out by the time I get back to the car and can clean it
it looks like they are finally getting the Salt Atlantic and Pacific in LC200N on their site. Took a while but I'm grateful to Spyderco. If they could just come out with a new Manbug I'd be happy.
I was looking for a fishing knife as I got the email about This video
I fish a ton. Any foldwr with easy one hand open and close, or a fixed blade that is easily sheathed one handed, are great. Just my experience
I work on a fishing guide boat out of a Ilwaco Washington and we use the Gerber processors on the boat. They’ve endured some hard use on the boat, I highly recommend.
I couldn't believe that as cheap as this was, that it was so sharp! My husband fishes & this knife is a great help to him.
FISH ON!!! 🤙 Gerber is stepping up their game all over the place.
Not going to lie. We were pretty surprised to actually catch a fish.

Pleasant surprise to see Cort on knife banter! Met him last summer, great guy. Also wouldve loved to hear his thoughts on the TOPS bull trout.
I agree with all the knives

Buck has a folding fillet knife
I use my CRKT Obake when I trout fish because it’s basically a fillet knife when I clean my trout
That's probably a pretty good little bird and trout knife.

THANK YOU BLADE HQ
Thanks for labeling the different models on the time scroll. That's a really nice touch. I appreciate that

Leatherman Sidekick wicked good tool I use it daily on the ocean
Mora kansbol is also great option
I have the spyderco enuff in h1 attached to my pfd for my fishing kayaking trips and I love that knife.

So cool that this popped up cause I'm going fishing today with friends!
I see the future.. y’all caught fish.
Did you catch anything?
Johnny Kemp we caught a lot of weed fish
go for 1.5x speed
Leatherman. Pliers and scissors are a fishing must for me.
Stainless mora great boat knife also
No wading boots?
Boots are for walking not for sitting. 🤣
What i needed too see.
Great video Kurt!
No Spyderco Siren?!

Spyderco Manbug Salt is an incredible dedicated tackle box knife!

In theory that is probably true. We put an LC200N blade in salt water for 3 weeks and it didn't rust. The hardware on the knife was toast but the blade looked great.
If you don’t fancy the yellow scales , do a diy rit dye.
You can get a really cool orange or green with these yellow FRN handles depending on what dye color you choose.
Blade HQ and if you mess up to the point of no return, you can always make them black.
Dyeing is so easy! $4.99 for the Rit Dye. And boom! Control the color of your scales

Gimmicky tools that no self respecting fisherman would waste money on.
I agree
Exactly. Not to mention ALL of gerbers new-ish fishing gear should be a third of the price. No dig at bladeHQ there, the greed belongs to gerber.
