In NJ, kids get out June 20 something (depending on how many snow days were used) and they go back 2 days after Labor Day. I agree unless the school has air-con (all the new schools do) Aug is too hot to study.
Yes we got out of school in June and went back in September after Labor Day . Indian Summer is always hot.

I’m a lot older than you and I definitely remember summer seeming to last forever when I was growing up. We got out of school the last of May/early June and didn’t go back until after Labor Day. Yes, we had a summer of 3 months off from school.
We went back around September 10th.
Here in my town in Ky, it sounds as if your school schedule is about like ours.
In Southwest GA kids get out for summer in May and go back in August.

In Michigan we get out the second week of June and go back the Tuesday after Labor Day in September.

We used to not go back to school until after Labor Day it was about my last years in high school we started going back to school at the end of august hen I was little it seemed like summer lasted forever

I live in Illinois. My daughter’s last day is June 2nd, and school starts mid August. They switched it up about 10 years ago when we had too many snow days after winter break and it messed up finals week, which used to be the 3rd week in January. Now first semester ends at winter break.

@@drummerloverEli Thanks. I bought it yesterday. Lol. It was $5. I still think that's a bit steep, but it's vintage Barbie & finding color book with vintage Barbie is far more expensive so that's how I justified it in my mind.
@@soflirty84 yes and pretty rare to have all the different decades in one, I actually owned some of those dolls growing up! Plus it has a pretty good quality print on all of the pages and tear out cleanly too.
@@drummerloverEli I owned some of them too. That's what drew me most. I want to go through it and see if I can remember which Barbie's I actually owned. Lol. I haven't done that yet, but just flipping through it was nostalgic.

I always wonder who is in charge of things like when they get out of school , I mean the day. labor day usually marks when they go back but that doesn't sound like its your experience. Why do they make them go back when its so hot?
