    I was there at WM20 and only learned from the people around me that Brock was leaving, l didn't even know Goldberg was leaving until after the fact, but l don't think people understand unless they were there how much the crowd reaction was a result of feeling hurt that we were invested in these guys and they didn't want to be here.
    I didn't know the feeling in the room was for both guys and not just Brock but the feeling in the air was like we were watching an ex try to leave on good terms after we just had a blow up fight.
    It was like we don't care AT ALL what you're out here to try to say to us right now just pack your shit up and get the hell out of here, this is already over so just go.

    I think Goldberg was a wasted opportunity for WCW. If they had taken more time to train him & build him up and delayed crowning him as WCW World Champ for another year or at least until Starrcade 1999 he could have been their main guy to lead them into the new millennium & maybe just maybe perhaps he would be there on stage today talking about 2 800 pound gorillas that refuse to die

    A lot of top guys from WCW seemed to forget that there's a pecking order when they came to WWF/E. Only Booker understood. Jericho, Eddie, Benoit, and Malenko came to WWF from the WCW upper mid-card.
    Big Show was forced onto the learning tree by Taker and Kane. Goldberg had too many guys making him look good, but couldn't keep his ego in check. Same with Steiner. Sting didn't want to go through that in 2001/2002.

    • @BigTrevo
      @BigTrevo День тому

      The difference is their age. Steiner had already been in the wwe and everybody knew exactly who he was. Goldberg was also a grown ass man with an entire separate career prior to wrestling. Most people who get involved in wrestling as a full blown adult typically get a bad rep because they don't wanna follow the same rules as a guy that's 23 and trying to get his foot in the door which is definitely understandable.

    To be honest, his earlier run is some of the best TVs of WWE during my teenage time. Compared to Rock Bottom, Lionsault, Stone Cold Stunner, watching him destroy the WWE wrestlers with his finishers was another level,…the closest to that level of exhilaration would chokeslam from Kane and The Last Ride from Taker. But for someone that had never seen WCW back in those days, Goldberg stood out!

    Goldberg was always the real S.H.I.T. to be honest, the Rosey superhero thing was just an edgy gimmick. Goldberg never gave a damn about kayfabe or protecting the business, and in this interview he proves that he didn't give a single shit about the fans either, 6-7 years ago and still today. Hopefully we are past the point where Oldberg will ever be brought back for any reason, let alone to squash current stars for a cheap pop, a la the latter years of the Vince McMahon era. Goldberg was nothing more than a flash in the pan for 4 years in a company that ran itself out of business with little to no help from outside influence.

  • @DWtechfan
    @DWtechfan 4 дні тому

    Although I feel like WCW should've trained Goldberg longer, for what he was, he was a decent talent. There has always been that minority of fans who hated Goldberg from the start. And that's fine but those who complain about Goldberg not being a good wrestler are looking at it wrong. Goldberg wasn't a wrestler like Taka Michinoku wasn't a powerhouse. Goldberg was a powerful talent who was unique in a way that no one else was in WCW at that time. That's why he was successful because he looked the part of a star in pro wrestling. So, when someone says Goldberg sucked and didn't get better, I'd ask them would they also like to educate others that the sky is blue? Perhaps tell us that water is wet?

      I look at it this way… You can say whatever you want to about Goldberg. Goldberg didn’t book Goldberg, WCW did. Ask any big guy like Kevin Nash and they will tell you the same thing. As a big guy in the business, you do big guy things. Make every move matter and it’s the impact or at least the look of the impact of that move that put you over. Not arm bars and arm drags. Goldberg was booked to be a beast, run through opponents. That’s what he did. He did his job the way he was booked.
      He was hugely successful, made himself a multimillionaire, and the company he was in… A lot of money. If not for Goldberg, WCW may not have been the success It was in the 90s. As he was insanely popular, a merchandiser’s dream and a good foil to any heel or face… Depending on which side he was portraying. Was he the safest guy? Obviously not. But that is his physicality. It’s hard to turn off adrenaline. Add that to an already jacked guy and you have a 250+ pound bulldozer.
      The thing is, with all of the matches he had, I think he did pretty good. Yeah, he injured some people… Guess what? So have a lot of other people in the business. Vader was well known for purposely hurting people, yet he doesn’t get half the heat that Goldberg does. It’s a physical business and accidents are bound to happen. Goldberg wasn’t purposely going out trying to hurt people like Vader and many others before and after him. I don’t even think that New Jack gets as much heat as Goldberg does and he purposely went out trying to hurt/mame/💀 people.
      The thing is, I’m not the biggest Goldberg fan. But I do respect what he did for and in the business and the success he’s had both in and out of it. For everything he’s done and everything he’s been through, he is still a humble guy. Yes, he has a bit of an ego, but everybody in the business does. You have to in order to succeed. It’s part of being an athlete. But when you strip all of that away, you have a guy who who’s done the best you can with what God gave him and went out of his way to be a husband, father and provider. Something that should be respected with any man or woman.

Not given any ring time to improve and had to listen to veterans who may or may not have had his best interests at heart. It just is what it is with Goldberg. I’m not a fan of his but I don’t blame him for his shortcomings.
