  • In today's video we will take you with us as we uncover the tragic story behind the rise and fall of a once trusted funeral home: a true story of betrayal in death.
Once the pillar of a southern community for over 50 years, this now abandoned funeral home, nestled in the heart of a small American town, was a place where grieving families sought solace and comfort during their darkest days. However, behind the facade of compassion and care, a sinister truth lurked, waiting to be exposed.
Little did the unsuspecting clients know that their trusted funeral home was secretly stealing money from them, preying on their vulnerability and grief for their own selfish gain. And if that wasn't bad enough, the funeral home had also been caught hiring unlicensed staff and failing to renew their license to practice.
As the news broke of the funeral home's illegal activities, shock and disbelief sent shockwaves throughout the town. Families who had entrusted their loved ones' final arrangements to the funeral home now found themselves feeling betrayed, exploited, and taken advantage of.
The state's investigation revealed that the funeral home had been operating without a proper license for several years, skirting regulations and cutting corners to maximize profits. The owners had shamelessly pocketed thousands of dollars from grieving clients, leaving them financially devastated and emotionally shattered.
The once-respected funeral home was now disgraced, shunned and denounced by the very community it had once served.
Families who had been defrauded came forward with their heart-wrenching stories, recounting how they had been manipulated and deceived during their most vulnerable moments.
In 2010, in a swift decision, state authorities shut down the funeral home and revoked their license, holding the funeral home owners accountable for their actions. The closure marked the end of an era tainted by greed and deception. As the community moved forward, they carried with them the lessons learned from the betrayal and vowed to honor their loved ones' memories in a way that truly reflected their values and beliefs.
Though scarred by the experience, they emerged stronger and more united, ready to face whatever challenges came their way with resilience and grace.
The closing of the funeral home marked the end of a long-standing institution within the local community. For many years, the funeral home had provided compassionate and dignified services to families in their time of need. It affected the families who had entrusted their loved ones to its care, the staff who have dedicated their careers to serving the bereaved, and the wider community that has relied on its services. Its closure signified not only the loss of a business, but also the end of an era. The once beloved funeral home continues to sit abandoned today, slowly falling into disrepair.

Crazy to think someone lived their whole life, had kids, made friends, had the same experiences and feelings all of us have, then their ashes are left in an abandoned building in a cardboard box completely forgotten about. Some actual garbage gets more care than these humans remains. I wonder if they have family wondering where their remains are.

It will always piss me off how many perfectly good caskets go to waste in abandoned funeral homes like this! Those things are expensive and these could go to those who cant easily afford them for their loved ones!
I wish I could figure out a way to get them and donate them to people.

I agree, it sucks seeing usable caskets going to waste all the time. They should be removed and used for people who can't afford them.

As a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for 8+ years now, I’m curious to wonder why the state or the bereavement Board hasn’t stepped up earlier. Obviously these owners got away with it for so long until it caught up to them, we undergo inspection almost every month where we have to submit financial reports , also all our staff and myself have to renew our licenses every year since it’s all be tracked in a database and we are not allowed to perform any bereavement and funeral duties if our licensed is expired. a lot of people think when they open a funeral home that they can make easy money but not realizing that there’s a lot more to it, the fact that these guys at one point where a respectful business and then started going in a dark criminal pathway shows either they couldn’t keep up , poor business management or they just didn’t care anymore. And unfortunately families end up suffering after.

When my grandfather passed, we found during the viewing, stains on the casket bedding. They said it was from makeup powders. We refused that. Then as the pallbearers went around, we found the residue of fluids leaking out. Finally, a sticker under a handle indicated another person. Apparently, they used that casket several times before him. The name on the sticker traced to someone buried weeks earlier. They had to exume that person, and found her in a cheap cardboard box normally used for cremation. Her family too had been

It may have been a cremation rental casket . This is a casket that is used by families who wish a viewing before cremation. Once the services are done the cardboard liner is taken out . The shell can be used again.

Remember growing up in Barbados and hearing many stories about the disgusting, dishonest funeral homes and their owner, used to go back in the late night or early morning ,to dig up the grave and take the casket back.
It was not until one early morning i was waiting for the bus ,when saw two men walking out the church yard with a casket, i ran for my life, because I was afraid.
Also went to many funerals where the families would badly damage the casket, even going as far as pouring paint on it, only because the poor families did not want their loved ones robbed of their last home. To this day I have no thrust in them. May their souls REST IN PEACE 🙏 🙏🙏🙏🙌💔💔💔💔💔💔

Where do you think the leaking body that was "in" your grandfather's casket was put?
Modern day caskets have an exterior threaded cap that unscrews where the deceased's name and date of death IS put.
Other caskets have a small clear plastic tag inside the casket with the deceased's name and date of death on it.
You found a name taped BEHIND an exterior handle grip of your grandfathers casket.
Where do you think the dead person that was in your grandfather's casket was put?

Did you guys sue or press charges maybe? Plces like that Need to be held accountable to the fullest! Glad you were all sharp eyed and refused their BS about "makeup stains"!

Every Funeral Home is highly regulated by the Federal Trade Commision. "All" records of any and all pricing of funerals/ merchandise and service fees etc. by every funeral establishment is monitored by the Federal Trade Commision. All funeral costs/profits, administratin costs and services rendered are recorded, filed and subject to filing and review.
...been in the business long time.
It's not like you see in old comedy movies or foolish hearsay.
      It's just the same as
      any other licensed/taxed business.

    • @AliceBowie

It's kind of a "weird" business, and most people don't want to know too much about it, so it's easier to hide bad practices. I've heard that there's a big corporation that's taken over most of the business, and so the mom and pop funeral homes start trying to save money by cutting corners, reducing staff to a skeleton crew, and then aging staff and sometimes drugs lead to the eventual disgusting result you see here. It happens a lot. If it's another old business, like tailor or shoe repair, it doesn't really effect the community, but a funeral home is dealing with the dead, and it feels more like a betrayal of community trust. They should quit before it gets this bad. I guess it's hard if you're the only local place.

Extremely wrong and about as disrespectful as you could get. After watching this, it makes you wonder or question everything after they pass. It shows how even a place like this, that was very reputable once, can turn out to be like they were. It makes you wonder how even reputable funeral homes or crematoriums may be doing the same. Good video though.
