I've been trying to make paper tubes for years, I watched several videos explaining it, and I never succeeded, as one side was always wider than the other. When I saw your video I tried to make one tube and WOW I did it right away! The secret is in the hand that holds the tube! And it's much faster! a big thank you!
I am very glad that my video helped you. I recommend watching my latest video on this topic. I think it will be useful. ua-cam.com/video/iMNgwHZ_Y4w/v-deo.html
Great video and clear instructions. I'm new to this craft and your video has helped me greatly. It's amazing how different types of paper are of various strengths- some are immensely STRONG- you'd never imagine this was a simple paper roll! I love it! Thankyou for sharing xx
I have found that newspapers seem to have a "warp" and "weft" like woven fabrics, in that they may roll better in one direction than the other. I liked your vid where you revisited rolling and thought of that.
I love your videos I have watched all of them and have learnt a great deal and I am now busy making tubes using pages from a colour catalogue pages from a well known high street CLOTHING STORE UK ONE QUESTION I HAVE NOT SEEN ANSWER FOR AND THAT IS HOW MANY PAPER 'TUBES' ARE NEEDED TO MAKE A SMALL ROUND, SQUARE, RECTANGLE BASKETS APPROXIMATELY?
Is that a knitting needle that you used to roll the newspaper? if it is a knitting needle is there a particular size to be used? Thanks for sharing, I love all your video tutorials.
Your weaving work is amazing I've been looking around your channel. Really beautiful. I would only ask you for a favor for your channel fans: When you edit your videos try to lower more the original audio so we can hear the translation better :)
I was wondering the same thing. My tubes are about the same length but one end is slightly smaller then the other. Also I've seen videos where they put 2 tubes together, Putting one inside of the other. In this case I think one side would need to be smaller. I'm new to all this l, so it would be nice to know if the tubes are supposed to be slightly smaller at one end...
@@MsBasketry Thank you for the links. You have some very helpful methods that I not seen elsewhere. My problem is with starting the roll. The corner of the paper doesn’t want to curve around the rod. It may be because I am not using newsprint, or perhaps this paper needs a thicker rod. It helps to moisten the corner, but that’s an extra step. I’ll continue to experiment.
you have very nicely patiently shown how to make tubes but it would hv been much btr if u could show which tube is used for what immediately after the tube is made
would you please suggest me how can i restore these newspaper items from moist...i have been using WOODFIN VERNISH to cover them which is easily available in market...that is also giving these paper made items a good shiny look and firmness...side by side helps from damp....but i am wondering that if you suggest anything better as because the vernish has a brown tint which sometimes vary the colour...it will be helpful if you add another tutorial master class video for newspaper items restoration process..thanks a lot for all your tutorials..they are really great...hopefully you will respond me..
very useful...but ur voice is not clearly audible.on ur background some audio is going on....so couldn't get u fully..wt u use to make that paper tubes unbreakable n how u colour it...

what are the names of those needles???? I can't find them 😥 anywhere, and i tryed using alternatives and i didnt like the outcome
Any metal needle, thickness from 1mm to 2mm. I use a needle from an umbrella, the thickness is 1.2 mm.
How do you get the paper to start rolling around the rod? It doesn’t want wrap around.
