    Just fyi, you have dropped your boost by lengthening the actuator rod. If you want to make more power by increasing the boost, you need to shorten the rod length. Try putting it back to where it was originally, turn it in 4 complete turns and then you'll be getting more out of it. Might be a good idea to invest in a simple boost gauge.

      You're right... I do have 4 boost gauges one of which is for the Focus after the one that's in it blew apart... I may plum one into the Discovery soon.
      It is good timing you comment because I was playing with the actuator again at the weekend because I noticed power was fading out with my experimental air filter on so I put the actuator back to where it was, and noticed the power was more higher up so I turned it 2 turns more and now it's got decent power until about 2.5k. I may turn it some more but I don't want to kill another Turbo haha. Just had to replace the one on the Focus ;(

      Will I be able to try this on my TD5 without doing something wrong? Really looking for a bit more boost if possible a way to do it at home

    Have you decat? Sounds like it, if you have does she still pass an emissions test on MOT? I've center muffler delete & replaced rear system with an RDX stainless pipe, sounds better but no turbo whistle 😭😂

    • @RSPYT
      @RSPYT  Рік тому +1

      Yeah I’ve sold it now but it was a straight threw pipe, no mufflers at all apart from the small one at the end.
      Always passed MOT. For a diesel to fail it’ll have to be pretty worn out lol.

      @@RSPYT thanks for your reply, I see a video of someone saying theirs didnt go through an mot because front pipe was decat, something to do with vin numbers, ive ordred a decat pipe to go on along with td5 dump valve, should sound the nuts next week when its done 👌🏻💯😎

      Well I always take my cars to the same garage for the past 17 years, he said as long as the emissions test results are within the limit he doesn’t care what the exhaust is… I suppose some garages are different 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Are you based in the UK? Will you make a channel dedicated to rovers only. Nice video and it's good when you are resourceful and intuitive.

    put that crank breather back on!!! your gaining no advantage dangling it down beside the engine. and your risking breathing in grit and dust to the engine. they work the best attached to the intake as they come from factory. if you want to change it change the one way valve for a new one. and look these things up before doing stupid stuff like that

    • @RSPYT
      @RSPYT  7 років тому +3

      It's a breather, it doesn't suck it blows.
      I usually route them into a catch tank which catches the oil that comes out of that pipe.
      The reason for disconnecting it is to stop the fumes and oil going in with the clean air. Luckily as yet only a very small amount of blow-by on this engine and very little oil so venting it onto the ground is no issue.
      Perhaps you should use your own advise and look things up too?

    • @Tony-Pan
      @Tony-Pan 7 років тому +1

      RustySkull Productions sorry but that's a stupid thing to do. If all it did was blow then there would not be a one way valve on the end. A complete waste of your time removing it or putting it to a catch can. As it will do nothing for your engine

    • @RSPYT
      @RSPYT  7 років тому +6

      I don't wish to cause an argument but what you said didn't make much sense. You talked about a one way valve, but in that case if that pipe was to suck as you suggested, it wouldn't be able to because that one way valve would stop it.
      That valve is there to stop the engine and Turbo from sucking through that pipe. Without it it would simply suck up the oil from the engine and burn it. When that valve goes faulty and that pipe is connected that is exactly what happens and results in a run away engine.
      Please think about how these things work before dismissing them. The only reason they attach the breathers to the air intake nowadays is for emissions but in "the old days" breathers were simply vented to the atmosphere. I assume you haven't worked with many old machines?
