That dude with the beard and white headphones was spot on, they really are emulating the feeling of trying to escape from someone scary, big and abusive but you're in your own home and there's no escape. Loved what they did with this boss, but now I love it even more
Thats PatStaresAt/AngriestPat, a youtuber whos been on the site for over a decade. He's been a lifelong Silent Hill fan, with Silent Hill 2 being one of his most beloved games. He was extremely skeptical about the remake cause of the dev's last games The Medium and Layers of Fear, but says he's genuinely impressed and proud they managed to do the game justice, and even improved it in a lot of ways. He also managed to finish the game with like hundreds of bullets and like 30 full heals on his first run, he's just that good with survival horror games.
@@halfmasks I remember seeing Silent Hill 2 while growing up but never really playing it myself. It wasn't until when Matt and Pat did their playthrough on Super Best Friends Play that i truly understood how amazing this game was. The way they explained all the metaphors, symbolism and theories. Good times. Never thought i'd fall in love with the game, let alone a remake of it.
As a person who had drunken/abusive parents, the scream making you flinch and how fast this boss can be, REALLY makes it feel like your being chased by someone that is MUCH more threatening then you could possibly ever be. 10/10 would go through this boss trauma again
I know she’s just a game character, but I don’t know how anyone cannot shed a tear as it relates to Angela’s story. Her dad was despicable. That type of trauma messes you up. On another note, great video.

And what we the players see is only what James could see abstractly through his psyche. The frame also represent his bedridden wife Mary. Angela's version of Abstract Daddy is even more disturbing and more horrifying and we will never see it.
As a veteran Silent Hill gamer who has played Silent Hill 1, the original Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 4 The Room, Silent Hill Origins, Silent Hill Homecoming and Downpour, the Silent Hill 2 Remake did the Abstract Daddy boss justice.
@thewatcher3429 What does this even mean? What do you want? You want it to remain how lame and basic it was in the original? So sick of ya'll gatekeepers smh
This is what happens when two people with PTSD talk to each other... James is "detached", it seems like he doesn't care about anything. Angela is angry.
Was reading stories on the remake of this. Neighbors were hearing screams. They called police to do a check on them because of the screams they heard. They were screaming to this boss fight.
When I first saw this boss, I felt so disturbed and uncomfortable. Not because it's clearly creepy looking, but I instantly could feel what it was portraying and hoped that wasn't the case until Angela confirmed it. I was horrified and I hated that I could see exactly what it was depicting, only could imagine how terrible it was in Angela's view.
My dumbass thought it was painting theme with a guy stuck in a painting, since it looks like a frame and is called abstract daddy. My brain just went to this is abstract art boss like Mura-whoever boss from Persona 5

I can never see that cutscene without crying.. angela's story in my opinion is the most tragic heartbreaking one out of all of them. She was broken waay byond repair. Her own self loathing created by the constant sexual abuse perpetrated by her dad and blamed on her by her mom lands her in Silent Hill, and there's no redemption or healing for her, she willingly walks into the fire at the end. Ps: the monster thrusting into the trapped lower body is a detail so amazingly disgusting, capturing the horrifically brutal abuse she would always face, never fails to get a reaction out of me.

bloober really nailed it on this boss fight. In fact, they really did wonderful job on Angela's story. Hopefully they had planned on making Angela's spin off game, like Konami did on Maria's Born from Wish.
