Can I just say, thank you for leaving in your mistakes and then working it out... its genuinely nice to see a fully honest video that shows its all... and I've seen a few of these posts and builds and this is by far the best 1 to watch and gain information from with a basic shown example of how to build this and make it work...
Great job sir... 👏 👍 👌
I agree, very clear and concise.
Nice work. I hope you put your Electronic Engineering knowledge to good use in the future! Hopefully you have a job in the field and design something exceptional!
Awesome explanation on how this actually works..thank you so much for that
Cool video, very easy to understand. Thank you bro
Great details.
Thank you
Excellent idea
thanks man. now i understand what is magnatic field.
Brilliant, well explained. Thanks.
This is a cleare idea's video... Thank u
Thanks for using English. Very educational video.. You have a subscriber here
Interesting part is the information about a closed and open path for the magnetic field. I had not realized that a closed path renders the magnet ineffective and that an open path seeks a way to close it. Thank You.
Actually it's because the magnetic fields are weakening one another they all have to be south up or north up.
@@wallyworld817 open path that wants to be closed is still a better explanation
@@Maxim.Teleguz not for me being that magnets when "attracting" or "repelling" they're really just trying to get to counter space the null the center of the toroid.
fantastic, fantastic I learned a lot going forward
Excellent. You have earned my subscription. 🇬🇧👍
Brilliant. Will surely myself one use on my table saw
Дружище, ты там аккуратнее с такими весами, береги спину! Здоровье не купишь!
SMART KID .......EXCELLENT VIDEO.........THANK YOU.
Well done. Great explanations. What is the benefit of just cutting slots in the top instead of just chopping the whole thing in half horizontally?
أخينا الكبير عمر شهاب (شهيب)…
شكرا كثير 👍👌🤝
Best Knowledge video for Electrical Engineering students
Indeed, but the difference is that it's good for stupidity ...
Do you think cutting it gown to primary would make it stronger? Or do you think its better with large surface area? Just wondering if there's more power if slots cut or chopping down to the copper level.
very good expiryment and explaination about megnitic wave
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Good expirements
very good very good you're a good electrician
The 12 V cable is very thin fom the the dimmer cable in comparison to the trafo sheet. And the dimmer is not destroyed ? Emma crazy !
nice work
Nice video.
Mr Electron, could you help me on a quick few questions I had on a matter of making a generator an DC motor?
so you have to power it with voltage then disconnect the power for the magnet to become effective? i wasnt clear on this part
great video by the way. i watched people make magnetic platform for a drill or something they didnt explain the science they just made it. your video shows it can be simple and not need mains voltage supply only low voltage high amp.
tell me what is the ideal volts and amps to power this?
Well done
Very excellent video. You are a pro
nice video I tried to follow along with it and bought a used MOT, the seller connected ac voltage to the primary winding (thin wire side). And it created humming sound. At home I removed that side and when I connected ac to the secondary side it created smoke and smell and became very hot to touch. Seems like the Secondary was already short? What you say?
Also Now can i rewind it using suitable size enameled wire? Will winding it with slightly thinner wire be ok for spot welding? Current winding is using 0.9mm enameled copper wire and the length and breadth of cross sectional area is 15 by 17 mm..
Good job and very interesting. I just sold 2 microwave transformers because I didn't know what to do with them
Hello. I used 12 volts and 12.5 currents. It got too hot after 20 minutes of operation. If I lower the current value, would I use it longer? Will I experience a decrease in my usage power? How much current should I use at most?
You saved my life, I was using a jankey ac power(home) and my coil was heating a lot
I'm interested in taking this electromagnet and building a levitation device. Should I just use another magnetic plate with it being + /+ for push?
Thank you for this educational video.
Nice video, I have to make me generator free electric is GOOD 👍 thank you for sharing your knowledge
Cool stuff
Good idea
I went through and clicked like on all your videos👍🏻
Will u please make video how I convert this to 12 v DC power output
Cutting the slots would it make stronger if chopped down like on other clips or is this way better strength?
Esta muy bueno el electroiman, que voltaje le aplico al primario.
Hi electron could the magnet be used in water with dc battery would it need insulated from water
Mr Electron ......i would love to save and use a Hand Power Sander for sentimental reasons ! But it is 220v AC and we use 120volts in my region !
Is it possible to open the Sander take the small Transformer out and rewire it
to work with only 120volts !!
Can you explain if I also have to cut out the two 110 volts primaries assuming
since it is 220volts !!
What tyoe of guage cable should i use and how many turns will it have as the end result !!
I believe this can be achieved easily by you !!!
Thank You in advanced !
6 th member to give like to your video
Cutting slots. ? Would that give more strength than cutting down to primary coil?
Any answers would be helpful.
can you also do a permanent latched magnet similar to Ed Ledskalnin magnet using a 9 volt battery ????
how much long time can be use continue 3 to 4 hour without heating or any problem?
Saw it pull 300 kiss and was max scale went to so wonder best way? Chop down? Cut slots. Or what would be best way. Idea of having larger surface area seems good but the shaved down one pulled 300 plus as never pinged off
Will a regular 12v dc car battery work as a power supply? The battery has 60 cranking amps, I believe.
Can you connect 5 power supplies in parallel to get 5 times stronger magnet with higher voltage
can you make an electromagnet that can repel or levitate the same weight?
Primary some wire accidentally cut Can you use the transformer ?
Thankd dear for make spot welding transformer out put whst need 12v by 2000w or amp whst need ?
Hi, i come from your nidec brushles motor video. Do hoy know hoe much current deaw that motor?
Full load amps 30A , SC Amps : 40A
can this be used as a magnetic door latch? and does it draw energy on the meter while its holding the magnetic attraction?
Great question I look forward to someone much smarter then me to explain...
Should you back up your power supply's flywheel diode? That's a rather large inductance.
Can ALTERNATING CURRENT BE USED TO?
20kg is not a lot of weight. Would this work with a 120 volt microwave transformer?
If chopped down to top of primary would the magnetic field be stronger? Or surface area better? School teachers anyone? Saw one go 500kg and hold with full mot but only top missing not cut out. 500 kg was max the scale went to.
Cut down to primary or use the surface area slots cut?
does it have to be DC for magnet to work or it can also be AC
Ok felicitări ❤
which rectifier are you using ?
Nice👍👍
how did you get 220 vdc?
This is great 👍 how much weight can it pick up?
@12v around 40 kgs but @48v more than 150 kgs
@@MrElectron your gaps are not nearly wide enough, you need to make those gaps a lot wider, your magnet will become at least twice as strong
Bro can you tell me the no of wining gage of and battery voltage...
You would have had a much easier time cutting just the shallow welds on the side and peeling the top/bottom off (depending on which side they were on).
What is a safe power supply for one transformer?
It is a cool project though, I just did it too :) (waiting for more powerful power supply)
I'm running 24v 8a and it keeps shutting off when the magnet is connected any idea why?
Mr Positron Is Ur Rival May Be!!!???
Nice...
Since the winding is designed to run under 240V AC, why not connect it to 240V AC directly? Would it burn up while the magnetic circuit is incomplete?
You must use DC current. Plugging into AC wall socket will not work.
can plug the 120v transformer into 220 or 240?
Is it stronger to fill the spaces with steel and pushing primary up with slots more surface area if cut outs also flat surface but other clips the cut them to coil? Anybody know best way to get full effect. To slot or cut down to the coil? If wanting a table clamp for milling whats best way to do it? Chop off to coil or push up coil and cut slots keeping larger area and then would fitting steel underneath to fill the airbag? Any physic teachers who can say chop down or push up coil and do what with space below?
You intend make complicate?? Many peple thinked you making welding matchine.
Welding machines aren’t complicated. They’re very simple.
(Google Translate) Beautiful work. I have some questions. 1) If I use two transformers to make a magnetic table, will it be more powerful than if I use only one?
2) If I use two, should I connect them in series or in parallel?
Thank you very much and my congratulations.
You should connect then in parallel
It s very strong
Instead of dc can it handle 230v ac
شكرا
Bhai tera Tallent sahi he..tere liye bhai ek kam he..mere liye aisa electro magnet bana sakta he jo clay(mitti) mese iron removal kar sake..for my industry ..I can pay for it
Buenos días sería maravilloso si fuera en español gracias soi de Venezuela
when i was removing mot secondary winding i damaged the primary winding of mot could you tell me how many turns and layers required in mot primary winding plz reply there is no answer of my question on internet.
Sorry I forgot the 'C' in Electron. Going to cut out Hi-voltage winding 2morrow and get a disc grinder to make the two cuts. I am so looking forward to having a 'mutha of an electro-magnet !
I'm fascinated with electricity and magnetism. Still don't understand it. Don't worry still not playing with it until i have a full grasp. Just trying to find a cheap and easy way to get nails out of burn pit lol
Only 12 volt, but with high current right?
This is what kids should be seeing in science class in school. , FOR REAL! to experience to pull
of the magnet. it will not mean much to see a movie of it. nothing personal against this nice guy
for showing us, what he did as I did too, I love this effing thing! any young kid in school science
class that sees this will probably really get into science. It will open up their mind to how motors
and generators work, by seeing how much magnetic force is needed to do a job and how that
force is made.
How do you make that not overheat?
Hi, does polarity matters in 12v power supply
no
Thanks
Wouldn't it make more sense to use the secondary windings?
Yes it woul but the thing is that i had already cut off the secondry in one of my past projects so i thought about trying with the primary
@@MrElectron will it be more efficient using the secondary winding?
@@stavrosps1238 yes because it has more turns of wire and thus higher resistance. It will be much more efficient
@@kamisama9715 Thanks.
I think that it's not a good idea.
The strenght of the magnetic field depends on the amperes you send on the coils and the number of coils;
with a smaller wire you can make a lot more coils but you can't have the same current for 2 reasons:
1) smaller diameter -> way bigger resistence (resistance depends both on diameter and on lenght, and you are making it way longer with smaller diameter)
2) even if you bump up the voltage a lot to have a good amount of current in that wire remember that the total current a wire can sustain depends on it's diameter, and since you are making it smaller it will overheat and break very fast.
For this reasons you usually want the wire as thick as possible.
The effect causing the spark is called "back emf."
It is a big deal in industrial motors as it can destroy control and power gear if not properly handled.
Also used in some fluorescent light starters.
Back emf is what laymen and ignorant chodes call it. The properly learned know it is called inductive reactance.
Ok felicitari
Qual é a bitola do fio dessa bobina?
Make, Model # and name with place to buy and Price of the ANGLE GRINDER please????????????????????????
So how much more weight can it hold
24 volt 150 kg.
