Seeing the old animation right next to new ones is TOO funny bro 😭 Like, comment and subscribe let me know which character had the best glow up to you! Thanks for the support as always people
Not to clown or nothing… but your reacting to a game when it first came out (2015) and had the average budget of your average gacha game at the time… to a game that’s now 9 years old and has made millions in revenue… it’s almost a given that, yes, quality would improve… For instance look at sparking Zero, all budget went into visuals and nothing else
Yeah you can’t clown me because you’re missing the point. We all know it’s an old game this video is just a lighthearted reaction to see and appreciate what they started with and what they do now. And putting down SZ to put this game up is childish lol
@@nathanbrewer408 The point of the video is to compare how much Dokkan has improved, why is it a bad thing? We compare ourselves throughout our lives quite a lot, and it's not something bad at all
Another thing to be noted is that a lot of these animations being compared to the new animations were actually the same unit just before getting Dokkan Awakened (Basically upgrading a unit to the next, better version). Nowadays they usually reserve the really good animations for the big characters, with a few exceptions.
I still find it crazy that the MODERN version of Sword Of Hope is not only lacking the big finish or a K.O screen, but does SO MUCH LESS DAMAGE THAN THE EZA COUNTERPART THAT DROPPED ON THE SAME CELEBRATION 💀 like seriously, multiple 40m crit supers Vs. 12m damage standby is nuts
"WhY iS tHe aRtWoRk sO mUCh BetTEr ThaN the AnImATioN!??!?" Oh idk, maybe because animating a whole sequence is harder takes more time than drawing one picture
Been playing the game since it came out, my current account is 6-7 years old now. Just owning the cards in my box is enough for me but with the animations have gotten better since the 2nd anniversary
i'm finally up to date with your animation reactions, still got couple ones before i catch up with the ost ones keep a vid coming each month we rlly enjoy these
what had me playing during the crap animations era, was my oblivious 11-13 year old self not realising the animations were ass at the time lol. shit looked crazy to me back then and also me just loving db and the team building aspect, collecting cool new cards and all that hype around them since they were much rarer to pull
Was 27 when I started playing the year it dropped.. never actually cared about the animations. Was always about the team building and the card art, and is the reason I'm still upset we can't download the high res card art in game.. idgaf if it would use 40gigs. That's my choice xD Also, it's not just 'bubble popping', cause if you're not getting the orbs to support the passives, you're not winning. So there's strategy to which bubbles you do and don't pop.
2:45 The channel was called ExoticDestroyer8530 who does the videos of compiling dokkan animations together to recreate like DBS broly/DBS super hero and he has recently started doing the namek saga with them cuz of the new vegeta and LR gohan/piccolo
im hella late but 29:25 it was definitely the team building aspect. felt really good when you were scraping the bottom of the barrel and came up with smth really nice
I started playing because of the unique card art As an illustrator and a dbz fan, it was fantastic to see brand new art of your favorite dbz characters that are almost all wallpaper worthy Personally, I had AGL Dragon Fist Goku’s card art as my wallpaper all throughout middle school
This is actually one of my favourite comments I’ve read. I love seeing new art for all the characters and I remember noticing that so much I’d see on thumbnails and profile pictures came from dokkan
The game loyalty goes along way, the old animations would still be around if dokkan didn’t have the fan base it does 22:29 personally i actually really enjoy when they put the card art in the super attacks, when they put it in the middle of the animations the transitions are awesome to see 24:06 yea the term is “decent”
I was honestly only playing it because of the fact that it’s Dragon Ball. Then when the animations started being… well… animations I started liking the game more. I’m a day 1 global player.
@ oh yeah. The game turned from a game that I only played because it was DBZ to a game I actually actively enjoyed, all thanks to the upgrade in animation quality. Sometimes feeling like I’m watching the show with how good a lot of them are now.
You could try ranking all transformations in dokkan battle. Not only does it show how good they are but it can also show you the evolution of them over the year's
14:18 the reason Trunks "missed" is because of Goku's sprites, some sprites for some specific character dont connect well with attack, for this case for somr reason that sprite of Goku is moved a bit from center position where his other sprites should be positioned making it look like he missed, if Trunks tries it on anything other characters they will get stabbed
Yeah it doesn’t detract from his animation quality it was just a funny thing to point out. I’m well aware that’s a game thing so I’d never complain about it
I would have spent more time in Dokkan if in 2018, when I first met him, I had had a better device. By 2021 I was already able to play it and you could say that I arrived at the time when the an animations were already improved, that was what made me stay until today, and I don't give up
I have started playing dokkan right after the first anniversary and I played with a few friends so it kept me hooked at the time, I also think this game isn't to be taken really seriously and more of a way to have fun while you have time to kill. You must take in consideration that every breakthrough in animation made people go CRAZY back then and I'm not even exaggerating, when the SSJ3 Goku with the shrunk artwork dropped people glazed his KO screen to oblivion because it was really rare at this time 😭
I feel like every mobile game isn’t meant to taken seriously but yeah I agree with you. It’s actually been fun reading everyone’s perspectives and the thought of people glazing that KO screen is hilarious 😭
@zero38xt yeah I agree what I meant is there are some mobile games that require a constant time investment to really make progress, like db legends for example where you have to farm for a long period of time to get good rankings whereas in Dokkan you can play 10 minutes a day and be done lol And this video has really been a blast from the past too haha, if this can reassure you even older players like myself can't believe how far we've come in terms of animation 😭
Not sure if you know this about UA-cam but if you use < and > you can go forward or backward specific frames on UA-cam. Would’ve helped during the Android 13 Trunks section. Great video btw.
What made me play it a little before the 2nd anniversary and so on was the card art & the animations were just sprite battles on some super Mario z shit
24:40 “If I had a nickel for every time Dokkan used an Lr artwork with a background, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice” (Extra: I don’t know if he has reacted to the old INT Lr SSJ2 Gohan, he should look at the original animation, the remastered and I think the AGL SSJ -> SSJ2 Gohan has the “same” but better animation, correct me that last part, but at least he should see the old INT Lr Gohan vs the new animation they gave it)
From a person who has been a dokkan fan since day 1. It was actually just being a fan and a kid. I remember the first time I pulled on Super gogeta (the STR one) when he first released. I pulled him on a single summon with the lowest rates possible. From that day forward, I just kinda went on and played it normally. Also, most of the better animations aren't here. But the point is comparing. But, yea. The goku black and zamasu animations from 2016 to 2020 (I believe) are night and day. There's many like it.
I haven’t seen the goku black and zamasu but maybe I should. And yeah I guess dokkan helped people get out of that lil dragon ball drought that was going on pre battle of gods too?
The reason I started playing Dokkan was because it was the ONLY mobile Dragon Ball game, lmao. I did quit for a really long time, I came back when the Fusion Reborn Gogeta came out and his animations absolutely blew me away.
Played cuz of Nano Rhyme and collecting the characters that came out like when Super was airing we just wanted to collect VB and Goku Black or UI Goku Dokkan got all those new characters first
To answer a question about people who played it before the animations got good I originally started playing it during the second anniversary. And the thing that hooked me was the artwork at first Unfortunately I lost that account but got a new one during the third anniversary. Thankfully that was around the time the animations were slowly starting to get better especially with the metal cooler arriving just a few months after year 3. Being the first one that looked better So yeah both times it was the artwork for the cards at first. And then it became the animations and OST
Yeah now seeing this it makes sense why dokkan can take a decent chunk of storage on your device CAUSE ITS MOSTLy cause of the visuals lol like how much storage did it take when it first released with those Low budget looking animations lol
@zero38xt yeah but at least there's a reason why tho lol but i do wonder when the game released how much did it take cause if it still took a decent chunk for animations like that is crazy lol
Not sure if the animation improvements are because of players asking for better animations, the artists itching to recreate memorable scenes in greater detail and finally being given the chance, more ambitious new management, or a mixture of some or all of these.
started playing since day 1 of the global release. i played it just because it was a dragon ball game, and there werent many good mobile dragon ball games so this was ACTUALLY the best at the time. plus i was a kid (young teen) back then so the animations didnt bother me. By the time my neurons activated enough to know these animations were ass, i was already in too deep and invested too much time into this to just drop it. now its actually a good game.
That’s completely valid and similar to other stories I’ve read here lol. I’m happy for all of you since the visuals now definitely rewarded you for sticking with the game
I don't think it's so much "shit ones" more so than just limitations that they had back then I mean we're talking technical and monetary limitations, probably less staff to work on these as well. Whereas now they can afford to license the original anime osts/ openings I mean that should tell you enough about how far this company has come with the game. For me back in like 2016 it was cuz it was literally the only thing db that existed at the time and then hype was generated with the anime coming back etc etc. Was a good time passer
Yeah I agree with you, I think I said it later in the video but the reality could be that they didn’t think the game would pop off as much as it did so when they made more they decided to reinvest and make things better
Back in the day they don’t have many good game which we can play for long time and consistency update, people are playing flappy bird if you remember that game, this is a game that I can play with characters I like and have an somehow interesting what if story of dragon ball, so I’m not sorry for playing this game this long, and the what if story finally progress some this year after several year with no update, and now the focus just switch good animations
