I have a suggestion for a home for polly, you could extend the skull more like the what was used for the thumbnail and put all sorts of trees, dirt, grass, waterfall, glowstone/torches as a light source with the path leading to your home going through it. I recon this would add a nice touch to your island.

For final home, you should make a proper FULL 3D skull the size of your whole island and then inside have floors and 2 or 3 storied house. Basically the thumbnail picture was the perfect house. and put campfires for in the eyes
Two block high walls connected to the skull going around your island will look nice. First of all, it’s not too intimidating m. Secondly, it will look more put together than just the skull. Third of all it’s nice
