The reason Wand lost control because he knows you do not have control of the axe kick, as it can come down hard so I would say the guy deserved it, and tbh got of lightly. Can you imagine this in Chute Boxe days?

Foot That Teed Edmund Tarverdyan somehow i never get angry during sparring, at all, and so i dont go as hard as my opponents. i got teeped to the face before, and i didnt even feel pissed, not at all, i only went a bit harder but nowhere close to as hard as my partner
I broke my nose badly during light 20% power contact sparring around a year ago. After consulting a doctor I was inches away from surgery and had to pay more than 200 euros to fix it (a bone in my nose had actually fallen inside my nostrils). Even a light touch 2 months after I had bandaged up my nose would dislocate it. I can understand his rage because an injury from such a kick could easily cost him his job (unable to fight) and it also shows that the other guys ego got to him. My advice to anyone looking to train is to find a gym where the coach doesn't allow ego's to get in the way of training. I haven't trained since and I feel pretty sad that the coach I looked up to didn't have my back and I wish he would have Wanderlei's mentality of putting people in their places when they pull off shit like that. Axe kick could easily break a nose or cause a nasty cut which could cause a fighter to miss a fight and potentially lose money. Idiot had it coming and probably should have been thrown out.
@Andrew861 u also forget that wanderleis training partners are his friends. if u look at jake shields and his team, while they are training they fool around a little in a aggressive way. even when he brawled, he still kept his hands up. if u ask me, i would say thats a good thing. he got hit in the face and u could tell the dude shouldnt of done that with wanderlei not having a helmet on. when wanderlei trains his hardest, rafael is coaching him. when hes not there, wanderlei trains casually
@EBTerriers I don't think so. He was never KNOCKED OUT before the 2nd Cro Cop fight. After that he fell out cold against Hendo and Page. He's chin got weaker, his wrestling is not up to par, his technique didn't improve, his reflexes probably went down... Meanwhile the game is evolving, guys are MUCH MORE TECHNICAL then 5-6 years ago ( Pride days) and they're much SMARTER too... I thought Bisping beat Silva...I thought it was a bad decision by the judges

Axe kicks, elbows, front kicks to the face etc. because they can open cuts, & do serious damage to some1.That's what those strikes are designed for. Wand has a fight coming up & doesn't need to be getting stitches on his forehead cause some kid decided to get fancy. The kid knows this, Wand knows this. He crossed a line, & Wand pushed him back across it. NEVER axe kick the Axe Murderer kids
I love how he all of sudden finds someone who is not that skilled as the first two guys are and he start throwing some good kicks. Might be because the other guy were not checking at all or he just wants to play with him. While i sparr im trying to give advice if im going against someone who is new or just not that good. Just throwing combos and having fun.

Not impressed by Silva's technique. His will is still there, he's still tough but he takes too many hits in practice ( and in actual fights) Leben will give him a tough time, and Vitor will surely knock him out
Head kicks are fine but you have to watch out with kicks that strike with the heel like axe kicks, spinning heel kicks, hook kicks that's something else. If you throw those hard and hit someone face you can easily cause a broken nose.

That "kid" is Michael Costa. Our Muay Thai instructor. Trained with Wand back in Chute Boxe. Hes now fights under Bellator.
