Some could say he looks better, but no it doesn’t look like him at all.
One of our former pros said when he was a junior, he raced at a local race with kids a year or two older. In that race they told the coaches why the poor kid is racing them since he was all alone on the course. They were told he was one lap ahead of everyone.
He wasn’t an amazing junior. Check his results. He became nearly unbeatable after he joined Gianetti’s UAE. Now why would that be?
Last time a GC guy starting beating TT guys (Pog beating Kung) was when Armstrong suddenly starting beating the likes of Boardman…
If something is too good to be true it usually is.
@@GuntherL1 I don´t know which statistics you checked, but he joined UAE in 2019, before he was racing for Slovenian teams and was usually in top 5, winning Tour de l'Avenir for example...
@@silspok He was U23 at that time and I never said he wasn't talented. Usually in top 5? Not as a U-23 rider. In his first U23 year he got zero victories. In his second year it was a bit better, but not great. Have you looked at his junior results? Not amazing either and his time trials were mediocre at best. Something happened when he joined UAE and what's happening to Ayuso looks very similar.
@@GuntherL1 well money does the trick (UAE have plenty), they use the best training and diagnostic methods, altitude simulator to legaly replace EPO with similar or even better results, at the same time, how long will these riders last at such level is questionable, I would not be surprised if he's spent before 27 (time will tell)
Pogacar was the SECOND youngest rider to ever win the Tour. And the fact, he won those three jerseys was only because the young rider one didn't exist yet in 1969, when Eddy Merckx brought home the general, points and mountains classifications and would've won the young riders one as well, had it existed. So while technically correct, it requires annotation. That being said, Pogacar is a cyclist like we only see once every 50 years or so. What an absolute beast. I love everything about him, not just how good he is but his style, his demeanor, how he behaves on and off the bike. Massive fan here.
...see only in 50 years? Wasn't yesterday that we saw Peter the Great!...
Eddie failed several drug tests. The sport is a circus.
@@evoathlete who says the sport must be clean? why should it be?
If Eddy is born in year 1945 and win 1st TDF in year 1969 ...is Eddy 24 years old....
so Eddy was SECOND!
pogacar feeling ill or was not in great shape in the tdf 2022 is absolutely bullshit cmon. He just had to fight against a whole team of amazing riders basiclly alone, except for a couple of stages.
Yeah he still did inhuman power numbers that wouldn’t be possible with illness
@@howdyl6456 His numbers weren't that good in 2022, Vingegaard was way superior than Pogacar ever was even in his winning years. Pogacar did his best performances in the 2020 Tour.
@@leomarim5558 He cracked like twice in the tdf 22 while he had to do whole stages on his own without a team. What did you expect that he was gonna do inhuman numbers. And in 2020 the only thing that he did really crazy was the time trial.
@@svenh1836 In 2020 he destroyed the Peyresourde record from 2003 by 40 seconds, Puy Mary record was also shattered by him and Roglic, Grand Colombier they did huge numbers too, Col de Marie-Blanque record was also broken on stage 9 that Pog won and even on Col de la Loze when he was dropped the power numbers were insane for such a long climb. You should take a look, he was more alone in the 2020 Tour than last year and still managed to win.
@@leomarim5558 with roglic like said and not to forget with lopez. So not inhuman but indeed good watts.
Great video. One thing you could have also mentioned is that he also won LBL in 2021.
Thank you Luka, that was an awesome win.
@@TrueSportsLore And Olimpic medal :-)
His name is Tadej. The last letter "j" is pronounce simply like "y" in the english word yesterday. It is not "sh" in the english word shout.
Crazy is also Van der Poel's pronunciation of his surname Pogačar. The letter "č" sounds like "ch" in word check. But Van der Poel says his "č" like "k" in the word "key".
he's just ignorant tbh, he included highlights with commentators pronouncing it correctly xd
I am always surprised how comentators are unable to pronounce smbd's name. Do your homework FFS. It is not that hard. Imagine us (Slovenians), pronouncing English names as they are written for us. We would be considered ignorant and IDKW. Šon Keli had problems with Pogakar and Roglik for x amount of time. It was unbarable and unprofessional
I can normally take a lot and many people massacre my own name but I find this one a but much. Also, I heard many call him and this is the first time someone decides to pronounce it this way.
@@HudoHudHudec "Šon Keli" I see what you did there! Gremo Slovenci! ;)
@@escapedfromnewyork he's been the best at every level he's ever competed lmfao, it's not like he just got on some Tren and suddenly became good. There is nothing indicating that he's doping
Remember when i was racing tadej in slovenian NC he is just on another planet so strong
Very good video overall (though I missed LBL 2021, among some other great achievements). BUT what made me post this comment is that I can't believe there's no mention nor images of the epic attack at the Col de Romme with more than 30 km to go in the stage 8 of the 2021 TdF 😮😮 Pog put on a brutal performance that day, destroying the whole TdF like we hadn't seen in many, many years. That was the moment of truth when he established himself as a historical Tour de France capo. In my opinion, his 3rd best exhibition, only behind La Planche 2020 and Flanders 2023.
Pogi has won everything from Flanders to the TDF
Well, not everything. There's still a lot to win. TdF is only one major tour, albeit the biggest, and the oldest one. There's still Giro and Vuelta. Not to mention two monuments, and perhaps world championships? But, he's young there's plenty of time for him to at least give it all a go.
Thats right, very suspicious 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
You're right. Tadej's rise has been completely unbelievable; just like many others.
I agree completely. This will be fun to watch. But not a fun fun.
Tadej has won four monuments, with Lombardia twice.
He now has three of five from the monuments collection.
I honestly don't see him winning the Paris-Roubaix. De Ronde Van Vlaanderen suits him better because there are short and steep hills where his lighter physique played a role in him dropping Wout and Mathieu, but, there are no such climbs in the Paris-Roubaix. It'll be a much much harder affair, and, according to his words from after the RvV, he's not taking start this year. Milano-San Remo is even harder for him to win. But, maybe, later in his career he will bulk up and target these two races specifically. At the moment, I think his primary goal is still TdF.
@@nowave7 He can certainly win Roubaix, he has raced very well on the stones during the TdF. MSR is another story, that is race that just does not suit him.
can you please name the four monuments he won?
@@Sills71 Tadej himself says he's not suited for Paris-Roubaix. He wants to do the race but admits he has to change physically to perform well on that course.
Pogi may end up as the GOAT of cycling by the end of this decade imo. He seems to have all the qualities of a sprinter, climber, endurance and most important of all, he is willing to take the risks to win, like he passed Adam Yates near the top of the Col de colombiere by dropping to a harder gear on the last1km of the climb to pass Yates during TdF 2022
@@escapedfromnewyork Merckx was a great champion, but a doped up guy. In that regard Tadej is definitely the new Merckx
@@ericvosselmans5657 and yoou truly believe it is any different right now? Pumping up 7.0 watts per kg efforts for 30 minutes like nothing? After Lance Armstrong disaster they just hide with it better.
@@escapedfromnewyork Can you even read dude? I lierally wrote that I suspect Pogacar is using doping when I wrote that 'Tadej is definetely the new Merckx" , because Merckx used heavy doping his entire career.
Do you have any idea what the guys back in the 70's took for doping???
Anyway again: of course Pogacar is using doping. If he plays nice guy his career, , unlike Armstrong, he gets to keep his trophies as well.
He is amazing ,anyway , he have lost the tour 2 year now , maybe next year
GOAT? LOL! Deluded. He is not even the best climber of the current generation.
The fact I know nothing about cycling, but I know his name and it led me here says something about him in a cultural sense.
The 2022 TdF! My days what a showdown! one for the history books! To see the race live and watching the counter turn red was something surreal. It's not that Primoz Roglic did a bad time trial. He was suberb! He did an excellent nearly flawless route but Poga, how do I say this.. he did a mircale, he did the neigh impossible time trial! I was stunned, dumbstuck.. jaw on the floor. I love TjV but poga, golly wholly.. what a machine.. almost inhuman. Tour de France 22 was for the ages!! Looking for to this year's Tour! Cheers everyone!!
vinegaard had also a really good team that tdf with wout van aert and promiz roglic that mabey was also part of the reason why he won that that tdf. but doesnt take away he is rlly strong rider.
Love "The ❤️ POG" , I've known his former manager Alan Pieper from Melbourne for decades 😀, Tadjer is from another planet, so exciting to watch , in his future career could he surpass Eddie Merck?? Watch this space 😊
He certainly can be, his main issue for that goal is that Tour de France is THE race. You cant be on Merckx levels and not win the tour.
Personally i think he needs to ride a bit fewer races before the tour and be more fresh. But that said given Vingegaard injury this year might be his best chance at taking a “free” tour and win all 3 grand tours. Exiting times in cycling.
And it seems like he’s genuinely having fun!
i saw this video in my recoomed, clicked on it. And efter 3 minnutes i subribed. 👍 Fantastic work!
Thank you very much!
No problem. It's very deserved!👍
one time 2nd ind the tdf and it's already a big topic: is he finished?
he had a though time with missing teammates
Some things you are saying in the video makes me think you never watch any cycling races. This feels like my mom is reading a Wikipedia page.
UAE was not much help for Pogacar in the TDF. It was Jumbo vs Pogacar
In 2023 it was UAE vs Vingegaard. King Vingegaard won.
Wow very nice video about him i waiting for more 😊
Thank you! If you hit the little bell next to the subscribe button you'll be notified when the next video comes out
I hate the false narrativization of Tour 2020. Nobody thought or believed that Pogačar was a favourite, nevermind that he was going to win it, literally until he took the GC lead. Yet the video would have us believe this has been an epic battle between Roglič and Pogačar from the start, when it wasn't.
Also forgets to mention that Tour of Slovenia is not on the level of WT 1 week races. Sure, he won, and as a Slovenian it was great seeing him race the home roads, but the competition were goddamn kids in comparison.
And he also made it clear he's not doing Paris-Roubaix this year. Pretty terrible to leave that out.
Well nobody thought that he would win but it became very clear in 2020 thet he will be the future. Pogacar lost 1.28 early on on stage 7 due to being inexperienced and getting cought in a crosswind losing the main peloton. Yet on the last Stage he was only 57 Seconds behind Roglic . So from Stage 7 to Stage 19 he chopped off 31 Seconds of Roglic and everyone else in the Mountain stages and nobody let him go.... You dont let someone who is 1.28 away from first place go away on the Mountains (You let people go who are 7 minutes down.... not 1.28). It was simply that even with Team effort Jumbo could not prevent him from chopping off seconds on the bigger mountain stages. So it was pretty clear that Pogacar was indeed the strongest rider in 2020 to anyone who had followed the TDF 2020. It was just that nobody though he would win 57 seconds in the TT. I thought he would maybe be 10-15 seconds faster than Roglic since he won the National TT vs Roglic before and it was clear he was a bit faster than roglic in TT.
@@lordad He didn‘t loose time due to inexperience. He had a mechanical at the start of the crosswind section if I remember it correctly. 😅
Just some Feedback:
1) You skipped over the part when he won Volta ao algarve when the actual team leader was still Fabio Aru. But when Aru showed weakness Tadej was allowed to go for his own result
2) His first name is not pronounced *Tadesh* but rather *Tadey* (ending like "hey").
3) He didnt lose Itzulia Basque Country in 2021 because of weekness but because his teammate Brandon McNulty had been in the leaders jersey after the time trial and Tadej worked for him instead of instantly chasing after Roglic when he attacked.
4) Your explanations for why Tadej lost the Tour 2022 are unsatisfying and not correct (except for the third one but that isnt really an explanation because you basically said "Jonas won because he was better").
Real explanations for him losing the Tour are:
- He struggles in hot weather conditions (The tour was exeptionally hot with temperatures of 35-40°C)
- He struggles at high altitude (as seen on Col du Granon and also Col de la Loze in 2020)
- He isnt as good on very long steep climbs as Vingegaard (as seen on Col du Granon and Hautacam and also seen on Col de la Loze in 2020)
- His team was much weaker compared to Jumbo Visma who could just send satellite riders in break aways (like Laporte and Wout van Aert on stage 11) and also had Roglic as a second GC threat that Pogacar had to take serious on stage 11
- Tactical mistakes on stage 11 where he spent too much on Galibier
- Maybe also nutrition issues where couldnt eat and drink correctly because he was isolated from his team car and team mates between Galibier and Granon
- After being behind he always had to be on the attack with Jonas just sitting in the wheel so he struggled in the final stages because he had to do higher efforts compared to Jonas
Roglic?

The win of Tour of California should be mentioned
Awesome video, thank you! Small note, afaik his name is pronounced more like "tah-day", not "tahdesh".
Everyone pronounces it differently. The two most common are 'Tah-day' and 'Tah-dee'. Phil Liggett and Bob Roll and Slovenian fans insist it's 'Tah-dee', but most cycling talking heads pronounce it 'Tah-day'.

So incredible that one guy can win grand tours and also classics like Flangers

Really good video
But the pronunciation of the names..
He made again, what a CHAMPION!
what is that thumbnail ?! lol!!
The Tour of Basque Country can hardly be considered a true blip. He had been riding as domestique to McNulty who was leading the race, probably as some payback and pay forward for a domestique whose services he would require at other times, but then had to chase from a losing position when McNulty cracked and he had to go after a podium result himself. His 3rd here can not be strictly viewed as being beaten by other riders as he was not racing for his personal victory, but was only high up as a result of being Tadej while riding for another. In the same vein, would you decry Mørkøv not winning a sprint when he drives on the front to lead out his Quickstep teammate, but often still gets top ten... then gets asked to go for the sprint himself when his sprinter gets disconnected or punctures in the run for the finish and then team has to salvage an option for a result? Think of Basque Country in a similar vein where Tadej was sacrificing his chances to win, working for another, but then had to change plans and recover something from a compromised position when McNulty cracked.
unbelievable rise usually means believable means, esp when the team is built off the backs of proven shady characters
Sad but true. He is the new Armstrong in all regards.
You make video of pogacar and start video by mispronouncing

I cant remember what tour de france it was all i know is that it was between 2020 and 2022 - on one of the stages pogacar got dropped by everyone including the pelaton and it looked like he was gling to give up and then he suddenely just switched on and managed to come from the back of the pelaton all the way to the leading group of the race, passing all the gc riders as if it was nothing. It was magical and hilarious to see the gc riders faces as they steuggles up the hill and watched helplessly as pogacar easily passed and dropped them as if it was nothing at all. If anyone knows which tour it was or has a video of it i would really appreciate it if you could let me know as this is probably one of my favourite cycljng moments of all time
Tbh if TDF was in juli in 2020 then Roglic would probably had won because he would have a bigger gap going into the TT. Tadej doesnt perform well under hot conditions as seen in 2021, 2022 and this year

You claim that Vingo was stronger from Pogi in last year TDF. Don't spread false information, plz.
Pogi lost TDF 2022 in one day and for one reason only: in stage 11 he was chasing four riders of JV in the valley, instead of sticking only to Vingo. That was a bit naive. Plus he pulled Vingo on top of first hill, also naively. Plus he didn't drink or eat the whole time. Plus having no support from UAE.
Vingo on the other hand was wet nannied by WVA and took advantage on Granon. Race was effectvely over then and there. Pogi lost but it took five man to beat him.

Good video overall, but check some of your facts please. Tadej is not the youngest winner of TDF.
No mistakes will be made this 2023 tdf tadej will once dominate little jonas
While technically correct, the achievement “becoming the first rider to win the yellow, polkadot and white jersey” isn’t truly unique from a competitive point of view. The white jersey was only implemented in 1975.
Six years prior to that, Merckx participated in his first TdF and won. In addition, he won the green and polkadot jersey. As he was 24, he would have also won the white jersey had it existed.
Insane achievement nevertheless and a good videi. Pogacar is already one of the best of all time and he is still only 24.

The only man capable of winning Paris-Roubaix without actually appearing on startlist is Chuck Norris. Tadej said that perhaps, at the end of career, conditioned on previously having won MSR, he COULD try PR, but would have to gain a few kilos and strenghten his arms.
Not true I believe Chuck won on a stationary bike
@@keithmitchell8271 thank you for this, I lol’d on that one!
I'm a new fan of cycling so maybe I missed something, but do people really think he's clean? Do people secretly accept he's almost certainly doping but its ok because everyone else is too? Pogacar, Vingegaard, etc are crushing stats that cyclists who were proven to be up to their eyeballs on PEDs set... Something isn't adding up...
People that know professional cycling know most cyclists, even at the high amateur level, use PED's, but fair weather fans hopping on the Pogacar train will get angry if you even float the accusation. Don't disparage their heroes or they will trigger. I think the insinuation that he alone is doping is wrong, but to think he's totally clean is naive AF. That most cyclists do doping, however, does not mean that some don't do it better than others. Gaming the system is a science.

he was and has shown again that he is by far the strongest when it comes to endurance and hills but not close to explosive enough to attack on a flat race or wint in a group sprint!
and also there will be a lot more opponents then only Wout and Mathieu, also Kristof ,Degenkolb,... and even some names you nearly never hear of can win there
And Pogacar is not actualy the best when it comes to technical courses and Paris-Roubiax is very technical.
