The woman talking about Ruka's dancing is Lee Jung. She's one of THE top back-up dancer/instructors in Kpop, and everyone was so pleased when we learned that she was training these girls She's good and caring, which is what these young folk need. These introductions really show how these girls keep each other going - there's a lot of joking around, but also a lot of support for each other. By the way, in case you didn't know, "unnie" is Korean for the oldest of a group. Age is very important in Korean culture, so, when people get introduced, asking for ages is quite normal. "maknae" is the youngest in a group. "oppa" is an older guy, maybe a relative, but often used to describe a love interest. You'll hear these a lot. Ruka is indicative of the training because they put so much time and effort into it but they don't know if it will ever pay off or not. It takes a ridiculous amount of dedication and determination to just keep grinding like that.
That's great to hear that they got someone like Lee Jung to help train them in a caring way. Appreciate you explaining those terms to us. And yes, the dedication and effort is why we fell in love with BLACKPINK originally.
No no no man... Unnie is literally "big sister" but often used to call any female who is older than you... Key word "older" not necessarily "oldest" and also "oppa" is "big brother" when we go by literal meaning but similar to "unnie" it's used to call males who are older than you but you're right oppa and unnie is also used for love interests.
Hii coach, if you're reading this then here's another term you'll get along often when reacting to K-pop boy groups "Hyung" - older brother and "Noona" - older sister (both of these are not used for calling your love interests)
Also my friend (original comment poster) Lee Jung Lee is not only "Back-up dancer" and "instructor" but also ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED CHOREOGRAPHER IN WHOLE K-POP right now... Not only YG... Whole k-pop industry.

About Ruka’s birthday, they should know that it was not that day’s birthday as such. By virtue of the traditional Korean system, every person is already one year at birth, time formerly attributed to gestation, and in addition, everyone, regardless of their date of birth, automatically turns one year every January 1.
That's good info to know. We remember someone mentioning this on another video. We appreciate you sharing.
That's true but I remind you that the 1 year old when you are born is no longer the way it works. To avoid the confusion the S.K. government changed to the international age system but they will keep adding a year every 1st of January and not in your birthday. But of course here in Korea people are not adapted yet so if you ask they are still using Korean and international age.
Ruka is Japanese. She is the eldest of the group. She is very talented and charming. She has the true hip-hop bloodline that best meets the needs of YG. Keep knowing her and you'll fall in love with her.

In Korea (Korean Age System before), you are adult when you turn 20 years old, and everyone will turn the same age on 1st January. And the video filmed last year when Ruka turns 20! But now their age system changes to international, but now in Korea, 19 is an adult.
Something brilliant that YG (Babymonster and Blackpink's company) does, are these special serial episodes, documentaries, tv diaries, that introduce the groups debuting. This makes the audience see the hard work, dedication, difficulties, and the personality of each of the girls. And admire them individual, beyond a musical group. It makes fans feel closer, which is why they have such dedicated and loyal fans. I just love it.
Yes, we are already fans of them after seeing just a few videos before their official debut. Makes sense what they're doing from a marketing perspective.
The great thing about BABYMONSTERS dorms is that they are climate controlled and they even have a convenience store in the building! They are allowed to have as many plushies and toys as they want! Unlike BlackPink they lived with cockroaches, centipedes and spiders and

The investment in its construction was made right before BP debuted, but it was finished after.

@@KreangkaiRNope.... The Whole YG is from the blood sweat and tears of BigBang and 2NE1, even Blackpink managed to do their marketing from the money BigBang earned... For that they sometimes lived on a one packet of cookies (shared between 5 of them)
@@shantanugadakh1131 Don't get me wrong I awared that Bigbang & 2NE1 made YG that big. I think it's safe to say no Bigbang no YG. And 2NE1 was the first internal spotlight. But Blackpink made YG to the top, financially.
Some more Info on LeeJung Lee. She won the Choreographer of the year in 2021. Now that is a big deal as you know how much dancing is a part of a performance. She has also done work for Twice and ITZY. She also appears in a lot of Blackpink's videos, that includes Lisa's Money and Rosie's On the Ground. This lady is a genius.
Wow! We haven't seen either Twice or ITZY but have been told we need to do so when we can. We did react to Money by Lisa recently and just have to edit and get it posted. On the Ground was great, though. Nice info! Thanks for sharing.
Few things worth knowing. You will see names and kind of titles. But doesn’t really explain.
Yang Hyun-suk Is basically YG. Blackpink calls him papa YG. He is a bit of an asshole. But great at his job. You see him a lot through the series. Officially he isn’t the boss anymore. He stepped down from CEO. But in reality he still is the decision maker.
Lee Jung is a YGX member. Basically a dance trainer/choreographer and members do backup dancing including for blackpink. I’m not into dancing but I’ve seen many things saying she is one of the best dancers in K-pop.
Eunchong/silvergun another ygx member you see a lot later.
All the judges who comment are YG trainers or senior artists. Sometimes you might disagree but they know what they are talking about. But others will have to fill you in as I don’t know enough.
The one thing we have to compliment this company on is their eye for talent.
Yeah that’s kind of why I explained. Some people think they are rude/mean. But they are trying to build the next supergroup. I’m sure for them they hope bigger than blackpink. They need to be tough.
Especially if you have seen the millions of bad things said about blackpink. They are going to get criticised the rest of their careers. Not right at all but it’s reality. You just saw a tiny bit your last video. Girls gotta be tough.
Ever since Blackpink became World famous, many girls are wanting to become kpop Idols from different parts of the world and you guys know the best part is that they accept talent , they don't see which country they are from and what colour they are , pure talent, Now there are two female Kpop Idols from India😃

When you watch the Last Evaluation series, you will see how these girls support each other. Even though they were competing for the spots in the group they were still giving their all to help support each other. Even giving advise and alternatives to improve each other.
That's so great to hear. It's easy to cheer for someone when they are not only talented and have work ethic, but are also truly kind people.
The introductions are good but they are a complement to LAST EVALUATION, which is the best content of the group before their debut in November, which will probably be at the end of the month. Anyway, thank you very much for your time and dedication. I look forward to the reaction of ASA and PHARITA which are my 2 favorites.

So happy to see that you’re reacting to the introduction videos! Loving your reacts!!! Not only is their training hard and exhausting but for the girls from Japan and Thailand, they have to quickly learn Korean and English in a new country without their families. This can be overwhelming. Love these girls and hope that they are under good care especially from the media and other fandoms.

This first young lady is very impressive. Her dance skill is clearly her strongest point, and she's become a good rapper, but I look forward to hearing her singing voice.
I hadn't realised that the girls were so totally isolated from their families all the time they're training. I suppose it's like going to boarding school... but without the regular holidays. Very hard to adjust to if you come from a very close, loving family situation. Every single phone call home must be a so important for them. 🤔
Yes, we've said before but even if someone doesn't like this music, they must respect the talent, the work ethic, and sheer dedication that these people display. Thanks for watching!
Watching, it's clear you two already get it. Starting from "Light Up the Sky" as a baseline, and through your journey all the way here, you get it.
Coach mentioned early on that a young person brought up in this sort of culture might react very similarly to young Americans with American football. Pee-wee to high school to college and the NFL.
As a Giants and Browns fan, I get it as well. What I can't understand is how people can view a musical team so drastically different than an NFL team. Musical gatekeepers out there claiming 4 friends who got together in a garage is somehow more "real" than the best of the best pouring their lives into putting talent and skill on display for our entertainment.

GREAT reaction! Ruka is SUCH a sweetheart. You obviously saw how sweet and caring she is and I noticed in The Last Evaluations series that when one of the other girls got upset she was either the first or one of the first there to comfort them. So I have heard Coach a few times state his amazement about the long hours BlackPink members spent training, and now Babymonster doing the same. Not that it isn't inspirational, but it should also be known that it isn't uncommon in Korea. Average Korean students spend much of their time, often between 12 to 16 hours per day, at school or at a special after-school academy called a hagwon. It is a very different culture compared to the West.
That is something we didn't know. Very impressive.

Btw, if you guys want to watch some of the "behind-the-scenes"-stuff for Blackpink, I recommend starting with "Blackpink House". It was shot around the time where you are in the discography anyway, so that would be cool. Those episodes are longer than this video though, so it might be a bit of a timesink.

They announced their debut date today❤ it's the 27th November 2023 at midnight korean time❤
I don't think anyone really knows when they will debut. YG tends to take their time with their artists. Blackpink got me into K pop, but following Baby Monster one can see the storied dormitories of the YG trainees as well as the secret training process of the YG artists. I always feel bad for the trainees with blurred faces as these girls were cut from the trainee program.
Must be devastating to work that hard and be cut. Hopefully some bounce back in another group or at another company.

If it is, and depending on the time, we may see it on the 12th because Korean is 16 hours ahead of Los Angeles and judging by your hat, you're in West Virginia so 19 hours for you.

We are already waiting for babymonster to debut for so long.. Only thing i can do is watch every reaction i see, but i enjoy it :) Also november 13th debut will not be true, there is no official announcement, and no promotions started. When promotions start it'll take around 2-3 weeks until release.

its not easy to get into a giant agency like YG entertainment. It is almost 100% guarantee to become successful if a giant agency pick you. Ruka did not speak one word of korean when she joined,. not one bit.. She learned the korean language to try to become a korean idol.
This is one of the big three entertainment of south korea and especially in Asia. Hundreds and Thousands of people auditioned to become just a trainees and YG picks a few out to keep training them for a few years. Every monthly evaluation , they can be send home and their long journey is over. After 3-5 years or more , Only a few get to be debuted as real artist. YG entertainment will also teach them other languages too not just Korean.,
Don't worry... Debut date is not "confirmed" to be November 13th, it's what most people are guessing to be... In my opinion that would have been great time for them to debut but I guess we'll start getting teasers from "November 13th" and we'll have their debut 1 or 1.5 week after that. (Reason is simple, YG the executive producer of babymonster AND Founder of YG entertainment have "Last" hearing of his court case on November 14th and it's believed that he'll be sentenced as "not guilty" in that hearing so that's why YG and babymonster is waiting to proceed their debut)
I guess I was right haha... Comes with experience I guess, cos I've been following YG Entertainment since BigBang era (2008 to be precise) and now I know all the news regarding YG Ent. And know what to expect from them 😅

Ruka, like some of the other girls, is not Korean (she's Japanese) and traveled to Korea for her dream of being an Idol.
Just like you saw in the Blackpink doc with Rosé and Lisa, they need to leave a lot of things behind, especially when from another country. And trainee's life is about dedicating themselves without knowing if one day they will debut, so it's a huge dedication. They also cannot return to their country much during the trainee period.
