  • Queen Victoria is remembered for being one of the longest reigning monarchs in British History. However she would experience a significant amount of tragedy throughout her life as her husband Prince Albert died when he was just 42. In 1861, Prince Albert was struck down with an illness that he had been suffering with for some time and because of this he was bed bound in Windsor Castle. He would take his final breaths but to the Royal Family, he was a man who had been sickly for a long time.
When Prince Albert came to England, his doctor warned that a 'low fever' would result in his death, and he suffered with stomach issues and problems with digestion. Albert also contracted colds and became ill, but Victoria was not the most sympathetic to his illnesses. Following Prince Albert's death, Victoria would spend the rest of her life in mourning.

Albert was also an accomplished architect. He designed Osborne House (on the IOW) and included many innovative elements such as insulation, ducted heating and ventilation (as well as standard fireplaces in each room).
So hopefully he was a bit warmer when they were in residence at this palace!
I’m an architect myself so I can appreciate the amount of time spent designing the palace and grounds, and overseeing the construction. All this on top of his official work.

I think prince Albert did an admirable work in many fields. (By the way he is an ancestor of many royalties in Europe, also our king Carl XVi Gustaf here in Sweden.) I absolutely don´t think he was a Russian spy during the Crimean war. I think that was just unfounded runours, but if he had been maybe some of the old British veterans from the fight against Napoleon, who were disapointed that Britain during the Crimean war was actually allied with Napoleon III (Napoleons Nephew who came to power after the fall of French kingdom in 1848) would have "forgiven" him. It´s strange for me to understand how that alliance came to be.

Poor Albert. He’s one of my favorite royals. So smart, and seriously helped with social issues, clean water. Sanitation. He did his best. Literally worked himself to death. Of course, he may have died to get away from his adoring, cloying wife lol. She could have at least let the guy build fires.

I don't think her life was in any way traumatic. I'm thinking about the little matchgirls, chimney sweepers and actual victims of Queen Victoria's rule
I think she caused more pain and subjugation of multiple entire countries while she greedily ate while they starved

And she was so pathetic about her husband who she treated like a servant and a stud horse died, I mean how many other women in Victoria's England lost their husbands and had to carry on anyways?
Not a concern for her whatsoever
She just sat there stuffing her fat face with nonstop food.
All she did was stuff her face.

You sound very young. You 1. Have nine kids. She was only 4’11 and had 5 kids in 7 years, followed by 4 more. 2. Never have to self comfort with whatever. Good luck!

Maybe if Victoria had stopped eating for a little while and did her own work instead of getting Albert to do it he wouldn't have died.
All she ever did was eat, eat and more eating.
While Ireland starved there she was stuffing her face
