- Dr. Gardner Calvin Taylor is an American preacher, noted for his eloquence and deep understanding of Christian faith and theology and known as "the dean of American preaching". Taylor was a close friend and mentor to Martin Luther King Jr. and played a prominent role in the religious leadership of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.
Taylor preached the pre-inauguration sermon in January 1993 for the then President-elect Bill Clinton at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church in Washington D.C. Taylor received the Presidential Medal of Freedom on August 9, 2000, awarded by President Bill Clinton.

So many intellectual and oratorical skills are in play. A lost art. We use a audio visual technology now. But when he started, you had to take the text, make it timely, timeless and transformation, while using words, tones and patterns that painted a picture in the mind of the hearer.

The greatest of the American preaching tradition: an African American Preacher-Pastor who's preaching still speaks-worldwide. I wish young preachers would study him and learn from listening to Dr. Taylor what preaching is.

How revealing of the current times of our existence that one of our greatest has so few views , and only 1 comment Many today despite attending church regularly know not what the truth is of the Gospel. But they will watch sermons that focus on gain so much that hey can memorize it word by word No wonder the country is what it is today. Men have become lovers of pleasure more than lovers of GOD. Matthew 7:13-14 could hv been written yesterday. How Blessed we are that the LORD is long suffering
