      Welcome, bro/sis. This is your culture. The human experience should be greater than the barriers we set for each other, or see, in the end, humans, that is what we all are, humans; needs, pride - imperfect. Black, white, or otherwise, it is nothing but a manifestation of an impeccable intelligence, and when it is all said and done, we are nothing but guests in this realm, the vanity that comes with being too consumed by the colors and differences of the temporary shell we are blessed with and our insistence in passing it on will lead to nothing but rife and ruin, as it has, again, and again....let's transcend this hindrance, we are capable; that is where our true potential lies.

    The craziest thing has just happened to me. I have been listening to Somali Funk by Stanton Warriors from like a month ago. COMPLETELY SEPARATELY, I have been getting interested in Somali culture and food, and randomly just searched "old Somali music", and found this song in the playlist. I start listening to it and realise it is the sample in Somali Funk!!! How crazy is that?? You guys probably don't care but that's pretty crazy to me

    Dooyo was a dominant sea sprit that once ruled the high seas according to Somali folklore. Ancient Somalis used to offer sacrifices, in the form of frankincense, gold, amber and fine garments. This song and other folk dances were specifically dedicated to the giant to solit his help for a safe voyage. In this day and age, Dooyo is no longer relevant for that purpose, yet his dance survives in the Somali folk culture.

    • @waryaawariiri1812
      @waryaawariiri1812 5 місяців тому +7

      @@dhegadheer2600 Dooyoow has nothing to do with the story listed above. Dooyoow derives from dooy, the red muddy land, particularly near rivers. The lands Jubba River passes in Jubbada Dhexe and Hoose are called dooy.
      That is also the song Xasan Aaden Samatar, who hailed from Diinsoor (a dooy land). He sang a famous song called, _"Weeraroow _*_dooyoow_*_ waniini."_
      He is singing about that land.

      She lives in the city of Columbus, Ohio, now and is retired from singing.
      She was one of the top five singers and fan favourite of Somalia in the late 1980s, along with Sulfa and Faadumo Qaasim.
      She also sung at my sister's wedding at Hotel Jubba in April, 1988. Since I was a nine-year-old boy, my mother refused to let me go to that night's wedding at the hotel. She instead paid me a thousand shillings, yet I cried to sleep on that night. Today, however, I still have the wedding tape.

    great music. also, i'd like to leave a little compliment for the writer of the great little info text. while i'd be perfectly content with just the music, learning a thing or two about the context is invaluable. thanks to you.
