I am not playing ukulele very long and when I heard this I thought it was super complicated but after your explanation I nailed it. Thank you very much. Dirk from Helmond (Holland)
Dear teacher, I am incredibly grateful to you for this lesson, and it is very important for me to tell you about it. The thing is, my acquaintance with ukulele happened very unexpectedly three years ago, after my husband almost died from pneumonia; I took care of him at home, and it was endless sleepless days and nights, medications, injections, breathing exercises, etc. When he recovered, my health deteriorated significantly: my right arm started to go numb from the elbow to the fingertips, panic attacks and pain in my back and neck began... Not the best time to start playing the ukulele, right? But that's what saved me back then, even though it was very difficult because the fingers of my numb hand didn't listen at all, there were big problems with fingerpicking, switching the chords, and strumming. But I persisted, played for hours a day, watched various tutorials on UA-cam, trying to learn something new every day. It was a challenging but very interesting adventure that brought me great pleasure... And then, five months later, a war started in my country, and I couldn't play anymore... A week later, I picked up the ukulele and couldn't play anything at all: everything I had worked so hard on suddenly disappeared. Over time, I started playing again, even saving myself by playing in a shelter during rocket attacks. But the former enthusiasm was no longer there, unfortunately. Not even my husband's gift, a wonderful tenor ukulele with low G, could help. I just didn't feel like playing... And now, two years later, your lesson, and my favorite blues, I pick up the ukulele and play along with you... You can't even imagine how amazing it is!! Thank you! This long message is just in case you ever think "Who even needs this? Who am I doing this for?" Just know: it is needed and very important, and you have already saved at least one soul. Thank you again and peace to your home.💙💛
If you have a good ukulele you can play those same chords AND work in the blues scale by using the 3rd,5th, and 7th frets. You can also use two alternate chord formations to make dominate 7s. You can add a lot of variation to the same old 1, 4, 5, chord progression.
Good job I play a lot of uke and number 1- get better strings-ukes are real string sensitive( aquilas are real good) tune the high a string to G now you have more flexibility in bar chords and a fuller sound you can also use a low D string on concert and tenor ukes for a heavier sound get a Martin uke-the soprano oxk is amazing and can be found pretty cheap ( $300 new $200 open box)
@miamistomp These are really some great tips! I personally have an antique mahogany baritone uke that I use but I use the Aquila GCEA high tune strings and it’s so great. 14th fret at the body joint and the larger body make is so easy to play but having the higher register strings make it sound like a soprano or concert uke. I’d recommend it to anyone that might think a smaller uke is tough for them to play. I do like Sean’s Ortega with the cutaway and the built in pup system but I’m going to definitely look at the Martin unit!
@@budandbean1 The nice thing about the oxk Martin is it has a laminate body that is very sturdy, stays in tune in the muggy Florida air and for some reason projects really well ( much louder than my all solid wood. more expensive Martin) Perfect for gigs outdoors
@miamistomp Thanks, this is really good to know. I certainly understand about the humidity... I’m just north of Orlando but I’ve played a lot outside in Daytona and New Smyrna but actually, never used my ukulele in a show... I do play a Garrison Guitar because it has a laminate finish and a aluminum internal x-bracing system that the weather doesn’t effect when playing outside, never really thought about it with a ukulele. Nice chatting with you!
A really easy to follow and fun tutorial that I'll share with a ukulele playing friend. A version for Tenor guitar would be great and appreciated, tuned CGDA. :)

I feel like every day you think about what super niche audience you want to make a video for next and then you do it...which is great tbh. I'm still here to beg for a potential Nakamarra tutorial tho 😬🙏
Can you not see it? Hand goes up, hand goes down. There seems to be a teaching method somewhere that prescribed the strumming pattern, because a lot of people seem to ask for it when it’s plain to see.
Wow ,,, at some point I need to set aside an hour to dig on a bunch of your 😎 guitar videos . I’m a drummer trying to learn guitar. Thanks. Oh , question please- I’ve seen that the 12th bar ,, bar number 12 is the 5 chord. ?
Also, I know a few different people that have been asking me about a good source for learning the uke. Hopefully there'll be a few more of these videos.
Congratulations, Sean. You have made my wife a happy women(wish I knew how) as a die hard cubs fan she loved your hat. So I guess it's time to buy a cubs hat and a ukulele. Hopefully this will make her happy.
That was very groovily informative. Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks! I am an old white guy wearing New Balance. I get attacked by my Gall bladder.

It's origin is Portugal. It's a Latin instrument.
They brought it to the Hawaiians.😎✌️ Aloha*

Also, the breakdown of the 12 bar blues and what makes it up is really comprehensive. Thanks for always doing a great job at breaking things down
Thanks for always checking out the vids!

As a white guy holding a ukulele wearing Jordan 1s I feel attacked.

Many thanks 🙏
Can someone give the strumming pattern? Tyyy
Love it.
Erg cool..simple and succinct...well done....bravo...you get my like and subscribe...
Fantastic!!!
Awesome work!👊🏼
Thanks Luke!
Does anyone know the strumming pattern. I'm new at this.
Thanks PewDiePie very cool
How is it tuned?
Love your humour! 😁
is this referred to as the C blues because it starts with C chord? as opposed to A blues, etc. ?
Yeah C blues in A it’s A blues and so on ...play it slow and feel the flavor.
Cool!
😎😉 Great video! Thank you!
Thanks pewdiepie, great video
Great tutorial!
Awesome lesson Sean.. are 7 and maj7 completely different chords?
Not Sean but yes, they are different chords. Maj7 = 1357, while 7 = 135b7. So a Cmaj7 = CEGB and a C7 = CEGBb
Finally a cool ukulele blues lesson! :-) wish you millions of views and some salty comments for the entertainment ;-)
Let's hope!
Oh thank God for this video! If only it was a day sooner tho lol
So close!
You don't play the ukulele, Sean. You FEEL the ukulele.
I'm learning!
LMAO. Sean..... you FEEL it yet?............
Great!
That was very groovily informative. Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!

No matter how sad one tries to make it, a ukulele doesn't sound very sad to me. Maybe happy sad blues songs? :) LOL
Sadness is in the eye of the beholder.
Kinda hard to feel the blues hanging in Hawaii, but rock on uke man,
Will do!
Hahah Sean is trying to recreate a viral vid, good luck with that man
Bingo! HA!
I'm really having a hard time thinking of a dumb comment to make on this vid.
