It sucks that “acne prone skin” for the overwhelming majority of the time is associated with having oily skin. 😞 It’s hard having dry/Dehydrated skin that is acne prone/sensitive.
one can have oily skin and at the same time, dehydrated skin. me for example :)
There are a lot of Korean products that are geared towards dehydrates/dry/sensitive
I’m at the point in my skincare journey where I don’t care if I see the white cast on my legs all day long
I used to hate wearing sunscreen especially the Neutrogena one that had an overwhelming fragrance, so glad that I found the Eucerin one through Dr Dray because I use it daily now!
Im in love with the Eucerin SPF 30 Moisturiser + sunscreen. It's become a staple for me.
Yesss I agree that Eucerin daily hydration SPF 30 is a winner 👍It’s soooo freakingly good, though I order online ..thanks dra dray.Emma from Australia 🇦🇺
@@artangel23 I tried one tube due to Dr Dray’s recommendation. I liked it so much I just ordered two more tubes.
@@vetsai8199 is it lightweight? Do you have dry, oily or combo skin? Do you have acne? Does it have white cast? I have many questions sorry im looking for a new spf since mine is running out and i am using the sun bum one but it feels so greasy to me and i have oily/combo skin
Hi Dr. Dray, I bought the Walgreen's Sensitive Skin sunscreen after you recommended this on a previous video; it's awesome. I have atopic dermatitis, my skin is very dry and sensitive plus I live in Colorado; this sunscreen is perfect, no burning or stinging. I am a Fitzpatrick 4 skintone, I get no cast white with this sunscreen at all which is amazing. Thanks for reviewing this! :)
Hi I was wondering what the finishing it has from your experience: greasy? matt or shiny? Thanks so much!
I really love the banana boat simply protect that is a combination sunscreen and comes in a GIANT tube for like $9. I have been able to find it everywhere, walmart target CVS Walgreens ect. It is fragrance free and water resistant.
I always, always get burnt with Banana Boat, no matter how often I thoroughly reapply it! It just seems to rinse off of my skin immediately! Although, for this reason it's been at least 20 years since I've used it, so it has likely changed. I'm just not willing to risk trying it out again.
@@someonerandom256 same here. I think Neutrogena ss is more water resistant.
Thanks so much for this wonderful video Dr. Dray. It is great there are so many reasonably priced sunscreens. I am 63 and have to admit that I have pretty great skin. The absolute best thing I have done for my skin is to wear sunscreen every single day of my life since I was around 35 years old. I wish I had started earlier but it is truly the best thing I have done for myself in terms of my appearance. Thanks so much for singing sunscreens praises! You are so right! 💝🐇🎄🎂🎉💝🐇🎄🎂🎉
By the way, I own a company that administers flexible spending accounts. You are so right about the sunscreen being reimbursable now! What a nice thing.💝💝
That's great I'm 26 and just started taking this very seriously. Which sunscreen do you use or which are your fave cheap sunscreens? :)
Such an encouraging comment! I’m 32 and just started wearing sunscreen daily this year! Better late than never.
For those who didn’t realize, the Walgreens clear complexion is a dupe for the Neutrogena clear face
The Black Girl Sunscreen Kids SPF 50 is phenomenal and it's $9.99 at Target! So moisturizing, no white cast whatsover and no pilling!
Thanks for sharing, I rarely shop at Target but will make an exception for this! 🤗🥰👍
I hate to be that person but with tax it will be over $10, almost $11, especially here in California lol
The only reason white cast is an issue is it contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Black Girl Sunscreen just capitalized on that by not using those filters, which hundreds of brands already didn't use. Marketing (manipulation) genius, as the kids say. As a black girl who can't use "chemical" sunscreens I was disappointed when I understood that's what is was. When they pushed it as not having a cast that showed up on dark skin I thought they put some effort into creating a "mineral " sunscreen with low/no cast. Nope, just slapped Black Girl on a basic "chemical" sunscreen.
To be honest with you, now that I am mostly at home I don't mind white casts, I have nobody to scare but my hubby and son, and they don't mind. Plus if I have to run errands out, i am camuflaged behind a mask so, white casts are no longer a problem for me, lol. So welcome mineral sunscreens!!!! Lol
Haha same here! And I loved what she said about using it for the eyes to prevent stinging and give a brightening effect, at the very least. Never thought about applying mineral sunscreen in that way.
@Vivian Godby so which ones have you found not to leave a cast? (Asking for next year or some time in the future LOL)
THANK YOU for mentioning the Eucerin daily hydration cream. Last week I went to stay at a friends place and I panicked because I forgot to bring my cerave sunscreen and I had just started on Retin A. Luckily, I had the Eucerin cream in my car with me and I wasn't sure if it was okay for the face but I thought screw it, I need the protection. It turned out to be a very pleasant moisturizer + spf for the face. Did not break me out or irritate my skin at all.
@@navyaaggarwal3037 I got mine from CVS. But I think you might be able to find it at at Target too.
Dr Dray! I had an epiphany this morning! I was thinking of you as I was applying my sunscreen and I thought, ‘Dr Dray should really develop her OWN line of sunscreen.’ All the characteristics you love and nothing you don’t. It would be perfect! ❤️
I’m currently using the Walgreens sensitive skin spf50 sunscreen when running/walking outdoors and it’s good under hot humid sticky conditions 👍
@@maylin4964 Hi May Lin 🙋🏻♀️ I have fair skin so this blends well onto my mug. After about a minute there’s hardly a cast 👍
How much do you use? People say you’re suppose to use like two fingers (length) of spf
@@flxwercxrpse1871 Good morning 🌞 I definitely use about a teaspoon. Eons ago I used to measure ‘til I was able to eyeball a proper amount for my mug. I hope this was helpful 🙋🏻♀️
As a Floridian, I feel your pain on the “sweating while standing still outside for 5 minutes” thing
Do you have a list of favorites updated Asian sunscreen? The last one you recommended(skin aqua) was fantastic but hard to get on Amazon sometimes.
Look for it on Yesstyle. I buy from them all the time and they pretty much always carry that sunscreen.
I’m not trying to be sarcastic but genuinely want to know why Asian skincare is better? What is so much better about it or are people like you generally interested in it simply because it’s Asian?
@@calliemendoza8563 personally I like asian skincare for hydration or repairing my skin but I like western for targeted concerns like acne. for sunscreens tho..yes Japanese sunscreens are a million times better. the formulations are so much more wearable with or without makeup BUT the thing that sucks about Japanese sunscreens are that they are so small and sometimes not affordable since u have to buy sometimes 3 bottles a month. Asian skincare is affordable and u can find so many different options unlike western.
@@calliemendoza8563 for me I like knowing the UVA protection I'm getting! Sure SPF is important but I want to know the specific UVA protrction. American sunscreens are wayyyyyyy behind the pack in this regard! Using a sunscreen with PA or PPD rating is my preference and Asian sunscreens provide that, along with stable UVA filters not approved in the US.
@@calliemendoza8563 Google is free, but to summarize they are superior in nearly every way, cosmetic elegance, modern filters, etc!
In Australia there are NO cheap zinc sunscreens. I've been following Dr Dray's advice already for a while - using a tinted zinc sunscreen just for the eyes and whatever cheap chemical I'm into for everywhere else. Great tip.
Walgreens brand is such a great value and almost always has additional promotions like BOGO 50% off!!
Yay for affordable sunscreens! I really hate how expensive some sunscreens are. If you take into consideration that we should wear them everyday just like we brush out teeth everyday, sunscreens should be much more affordable. Imagine paying $30 for a toothpaste? 😷
I actually do apply a mineral sunscreen around the eyes, and a chemical for the rest of my face. that way I don't have eye irritation and not white cast all over my face!
I like how sometimes there’s 1 wreath in the background on the wall and sometimes there’s 2 lol
@@DrDrayzday maybe one of those metal stick-on 3m hooks would help?
Tried the Walgreens Sensitive Skin sunscreen and love it! Even better than Elta MD and you can't beat the price. Thank you so much for the recommendation.
Best one that you didn’t mention is Coopertone pure & simple. 24% zinc, low cast & under $10.
The Walgreens one is good!! I got two different kinds on clearance for 2.99 each!!!!

Plus I trust you more than a lot so... thank youuuuu 💖💖
Dr. Dray, have you tried any HEB brand sunscreens? Most are under $10 and go all the way up to 70 spf. Is it possible to review them?
Ah yeah. Also the Hill Country Fare brand from HEB, too. She lives in Houston, so there should be an HEB in her area. I discovered one of my favorite Webtoon artists was from the Texas region when I saw a sour cream container from HEB.
I had asked the same question before ... I’ve used them and they feel nice but idk if they’re any good. 🤷🏻♀️
I use a mineral sunscreen around my eyes and then apply my chemical sunscreen to the rest of my face and finally no more irritation and no white cast. The mineral sunscreen stick is even more convenient.
I do that too because mineral one does not burn my eyes.. Question, does the internal suncreen also protect against uva/uvb?
That's what I'm thinking about doing. I hate the burning sensation around my eyes but I'm pale ans still have a problem with white cast
Its crazy how good and accessible her recommendations always are thank you always!
I thoroughly love how you explain and break down the ingredients and how to apply/ or use the product and who can use. You think of men and women and every skin tone. I thank you and appreciate your videos that are very informative and budget conscious.
Sunscreen that fits my budget! Thank you Dr Dray ❤️
I love using mineral sunscreen on my eyes! It helps cover my dark circles more than concealer! :D
Thanks for all the great info Dr.Dray!
I wish these Suncreens were available in India too (it is expensive because of Shipping Price), the one I use is almost these Sunscreens' Price but, heavy white cast and most of the Chemical Sunscreen irritates my face
Happy Sunday Dr Dray ❤
Me: Yess new cheap sunscreen.
Also me: Lives in europe and has never seen any of these here.
You can get altruist and P20, very good protection for an affordable price.
For those in the UK...Altruist Sunscreen is available on Amazon £8.00 for 200ml. It's amazing (uses both chemical and mineral filters) no fragrance and super affordable :)
Needed this video especially after all those sunscreen w/benzene.

I use the Walgreens hydrating spf 50 sunscreen as hand cream. No cast, very moisturizing and cheap.
Do you think it would work well as a face sunscreen for people with dry skin?
@@mindyzuckerman936 ,I have used the it that way. I have another sunscreen I use on my face every morning but I have replied the Walgreens Hydrating on my face and neck when I needed to re apply and it's all I had. It's less than $5.00 so definitely worth a try. Ive repurchased countless times.

My Walgreens is just a short drive away, but to an area where I otherwise I have no other errands to run. The l sensitive skin SPF 50 is my absolute favorite. I’m fair with an olive toned skin, and I see absolutely no cast whatsoever! The price is right too!
Question: It is oily in any way? How it performs under makeup? Thanks
@@tiradomaribel9436 I don’t think it’s oily, per se. It does have some kind of dimethicone or silicone in it which I suppose could make it feel oily to some people. I don’t use make up on my skin, and I don’t notice any issue when I use mascara or powdered eyeshadow as eye liner.
Walgreens has a good return policy, but check that with your local store.
The moment we have all been waiting for ...🙌 Yayyy for affordable options of sunscreens !
I have the Banana Boat Sunscreen for my arms and legs whenever I where shorts. I’ve seen you recommend it before on a few other vids, thank you Dr Dray!
Last year I bought the Walgreens Clear Complexion 50 and applied it in the morning to my face but avoided the eye area. I went on a walk and the sunscreen ran down to my eye area with sweat and I experienced the worst eye irritation in my eyes. I could barely walk home because my eyes were blurry, runny with tears, and it burned so bad. I loved the sunscreen as it didn't leave a white cast but for me I will never apply it to my face again. I wear a lot of brands of sunscreen and for some reason that one did not work better.
Dr Dray is a lifesaver!
I bought Eucerin and love how hydrating it is. I use it on my arms and legs everyday! Thank you!
I am ready to go on a long car trip, I have purchased the euceeine cream, banana boat hair and scalp, and cotz spf 50, lip balm spf 30. My husband has learned not to ask any more about why so many sun screens. He knows Andrea recommended and that is green light to uses. Thanks for this particular topic. Is good to have good prodigar affordable prices. Thanks for all your time, dedication and great education that you are providing about skin care.😍🥰😃
That Eucerin is no joke. Absolute value at least for everyday use and reapplication? Great save really.
My sunscreen (coppertone spf 50 pure & simple lotion) wasn’t on the list of sunscreens tested for benzene. Should we only use ones that have been tested with no benzene detected, or should we simply avoid ones that are confirmed to be contaminated? I ask because I really like this product and don’t wanna throw it out if I don’t have to 🙂
I have the same question! This is the only one i have found that i can tolerate reapplying all day lol
I’ve had the same question/concern! I DM’d a company or two on Instagram about it but haven’t gotten a reply yet and would probably be more interested in her insight anyway!
@@jessicazelaya5630 i would think there could be benzene in any product.. excluding those in the valisure study as not detected. I would appreciate her opinion more than others as well. I love Coppertone Pure and Simple! It plays well with my makeup (if I'm wearing any) and goes on nice without tugging 😊🍁
I think you've talked about this briefly in one of your Dollar Tree videos but the Max Block sunscreen that they have is a great option if you're really on a budget. It does have fragrance (though not migraine-inducing, in my experience) and it does have oxybenzone but it's water-resistant, isn't too greasy nor sticky, and gets the job done.
it's crazy that Dr. Dray lives in the same city as me!!!! 😅 I'm so happy because I really needed new sunscreens to try
I think I finally found a sunscreen I like to use. It’s the Walgreens spf 30 hydrating sunscreen lotion and I like how it applies without being too thick like other sunscreens 🙌
'Banana Boat® Simply Protect™ Faces Sunscreen Lotion' is a good sunscreen too for under $10! And it's great for sensitive skin! I've been using this for a few months and like it a lot. So grateful for you Dr. Dray. You don’t push 1 ounce bottles that cost over 30 dollars as recommendations. We don’t deserve you.
I'm surprised you didnt include Coppertone Pure and Simple Pure Botanicals! I love this stuff and it was $7
Just by the name alone (never tried it or looked it up), I'd say it's because of any essential oils/fragrances included in the formula.

I recently started using eucerin daily hydration sunscreen,, it feels great on my skin. But i feel it clogs my pores. Could a product clog your pores when it claims it’s non comedogenic?
What ingredient gives that gross sunscreen smell? I have a hard time with American chemical sunscreens because they smell so bad, I was wondering if it’s a particular UV filter they use like avobenzone
I was wondering what caused that smell too. Especially since it smells the same for both chemical and mineral sunscreens.
I didn’t know that people disliked the smell. I associate it with summertime vacations and it is a nostalgic smell for me. I don’t know the reason for it though lol
Yes, Dr.Dray please tell us why all sunscreens have that stinky smell. If there is any that you could recommend but don't have that stinky ingredient, I would greatly appreciate it!
