- "THE WRAP-UP PROJECT" began as Planeta Caravana's way of expressing our gratitude for 90's Boom Bap culture. Over time, it grew into something bigger, representing a large part of what Planeta Caravana is today.
The project celebrates underground Hip Hop while also critiquing the pressure on artists to appear rich and powerful. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing the value in creating art with limited resources-or even while holding down a day job-rather than focusing on wealth and status. While we understand and resonate with the desire to showcase success through jewelry, especially when it comes from overcoming violent life experiences, we believe that this form of displaying achievements glorifies a culture of hoarding.
Additionally, the project addresses the harm caused by the constant focus on sex portrayed in non-constructive ways, alongside the glorification of violence and hierarchy, which deteriorates the capacity of music as a form of education and negatively impacts people's minds.
We know that not all artists in the culture fit this description, but we feel responsible for bringing it up and addressing it.
