My friend does a lot of that and he puts a lot of jars in a 55 gallon barrel with a wood fire and takes them out the next day and never has any problems. Tomato sauce to. Thanks
I am hitting 80 and have always water bathed my meat and chicken raw...dont add a thing to the jars. Cold meat and cold jars going into room temperature water... bring to boil and waterbath 3 hours.
So Great!!!!!! Please, More!!!! Lol! I Love watching & learning water bathing everything. To watch others do it gives me so much more confidence. So many others do it & have for generations, so yes, I trust that over the alphabet organizations that are arm in arm with the food companies ~ Thank you So, So much! Merry Christmas!!!
In eastern Europe, every food with meat we tyndalise - which means waterbath 3 times in 24hrs interval. 1day 2-3hrs, 2nd and 3rd day 1-1.5 hr depending on the size of the jar. After this process foos will last until the lid keeps sealed. It has been tested over centuries. Jars from before 2nd war still being found in old buildings and still edible. Recently eat sourcraut stew with meat and wild mushrooms (bigos) from 2010 and it was as fresh as from the stove
Love these video's! Just learning how to can. I have no pressure canner. So very happy with your video's. Straight to the point. Love that 👍🙂 I think the cameraman is doïng a great job 👌🏻 Please keep teaching on youtube. Warm greetings from the Netherlands. 🌷
Thanks for this video. I have really been liking water bath canning over pressure canning. I haven’t tried waterbath meats but I think I will do this soon. I feel like I get 100% seal rate with waterbath as opposed to pressure can.
Your videos are great, such clear explanations. If you waterbath ground beef for 3 hours using 500ml jars, how long would you waterbath using 1000ml jars please?
Thanks for the water bath it seems no one is doing it any more. My mom did it and we are still alive lol😅 my cube steak is delicious. Sausage later this week. How long do you keep your canned meets.
I loved your video! I’m new to water bath canning and your are straight to the point. Thank you! Can you tell me what you use to weight your floating jars with?
Sorry that wasn’t very good grammar. Should have looked before I sent it. I bought myself a 2 lbs weight that is thin and easy to remove when hot. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! I'm wondering is there anything that needs to be done before they go into the jars Such as adding extra water, vinegar, or draining the grease or even adding salt?
Hi Jan I did the mince last night and when boiling time complete, looked like water in bottle, left to cool off and this morning see a ring of fat in bottles, will this matter?
My kids use it for tacos we use it for spaghetti and other things and they say it taste the same.I use lean ground beef, I have pressure canned it and I prefer water bath.
Your son is so sweet and helpful. His narration of the snow was nice and anecdotal. He is a keeper. ❤
Thank you!
This came up in my videos. I plan to start water bathing more things.
I follow other people that do water bath canning for everything.

Yes, it is so easy!
You have a wonderful son. I envy you. Also, you are an awesome teacher. ❤❤❤
I will try this recipe today and cook for 3 hours full boil. Thank you.
I find alternating my lids face-up, face-down when pre-boiling them prevents them from suctioning together. Great video.
I am currently in the first hour of doing a water bath with ground beef. Thank you for your video. I pray that mine turns out well also.
Can’t wait to here how it turned out!
@@janmariescanningkitchen2595all of the jars of meat look great!

Warm greetings from the Netherlands. 🌷
I store my jars down stairs in a spare room.
I’m so glad you enjoy them, my 15 year old son is my camera man.
Thank you so much for this! I like your method much better than all the other ones I have researched.
I am glad you liked it!
We dont always have to do what mommy and Daddy government tell us.
I do what has worked for us for many years!
Thanks for this video. I have really been liking water bath canning over pressure canning. I haven’t tried waterbath meats but I think I will do this soon. I feel like I get 100% seal rate with waterbath as opposed to pressure can.

I have never done ground beef in 1 litre jars, but I do stew in 1 litre jars and I still only do it for 3 hours at a full rolling boil.
Thanks for the water bath it seems no one is doing it any more. My mom did it and we are still alive lol😅 my cube steak is delicious. Sausage later this week. How long do you keep your canned meets.
As long as the jars are sealed , they should be fine.
What weight to use to keep Jars from floating?
My grandmother would use one of those heavy restaurant plates and turn it upside down on the lids and it would keep everything down
What part of Arkansas are ya"ll from i grew up around searcy and possum grape area
I was wondering where do you store your canned jars? We don't have a cold room or anything. 🤔
So awesome I just recently started canning I have no pressure canner and don’t plan on getting one so the more I see of this the more excited I get 🙌🥳
Welcome to canning, glad I could help!
Wonderful! Do you leave the rims on or do you take them off for storage?
I take them off for storage.
I HAD to subscribe.. so much good info on this channel ❤❤
How long will these stay good on the shelf?
As long as the seal is good, they don’t last to long on my shelves. I think the longest is just over a year. My kids love to use these to make tacos!
Can you re water bath after lids have sealed if you did not cook for 3 hrs? To finish the timing?
I loved your video! I’m new to water bath canning and your are straight to the point. Thank you!
Can you tell me what you use to weight your floating jars with?
I bought myself a 2 lbs weight that is quite this and easy to remove

A simple plate can be enough...
So how long does the meat last in the jars without no boiled water inside?
Thanks
As long as the seal isn’t broken it is good ! I have had mine on my shelves for over a year. My kids eat them up quite fast, they love making tacos !
Thank you! I'm wondering is there anything that needs to be done before they go into the jars
Such as adding extra water, vinegar, or draining the grease or even adding salt?
I just drain some of the fat off, I add my spices when I cook with it.
Lovely
How long can you keep that ground beef in the jar before it goes bad?
As long as the seal isn’t broken it show be good, I have had mine on the shelve for about a year. My kids eat it a lot!
@@janmariescanningkitchen2595 Thanks Jan.
Id be worried about cold snow hitting the hot jar and causing it to blow or bust.
Can you add seasoning or should you do that when the jars are opened?
I prefer to add the spices when I open the jars!
Thank you! 😎👍🏻
You're welcome!
Thank you
Can i keep jars of water bath meats on a shelf in my apartment
Yes you can, but it's better to have them in a cooler place.
Are your jars warm when u can
They are just warm not hot.
Can I season the hamburger meat first and add cooked onions?
I have never seasoned mine first, but I can’t see why not!
Are those quart jars?
No , they are 1/2 of quarts or 500mls.
Wjhen u wipe the jars, do u use dry paper towel, wet, wet with vinegar?
I just use a dry paper towel, some people use vinegar. I have not used vinegar and have never had a problem with my jars sealing.
Be SURE u all have old fashioned kitchen timers! If grid goes may be only way u can time cooking
Hi I had one jar crack..can I put it in new jar and re bath it?
no
Hi Jan I did the mince last night and when boiling time complete, looked like water in bottle, left to cool off and this morning see a ring of fat in bottles, will this matter?
It is probably just the fat from the ground beef, as long as the jars are sealed it is fine.
@@janmariescanningkitchen2595 OK. thank you for answering.
Without water??
Yes, without water!
@@janmariescanningkitchen2595 thank you
And you’ve never ever gotten sick eating this way?
How does the hamburger taste though. I did so.e pressure canning and it tastes terrible and changes the taste of what ever I make.
My kids use it for tacos we use it for spaghetti and other things and they say it taste the same.I use lean ground beef, I have pressure canned it and I prefer water bath.
botulism can live in 212 degree water for well over 4 hours. Just a heads up. Better safe then sorry.
