The above specific MD dyno (its main difference to the DJ one is that it is a roller bearing dyno) was setup to read higher than it should, through its software. On 100 oct premium japanese fuel (ron), the new Supra makes 380-400 flywheel hp. On 93 oct U.S pump gas (aki), on a low reading MD dyno the new Supra should be around the 310 mark at the wheels, or 350-360 at the flywheel. The new car , has a LOT of potential, it is an awesome car in every aspect, and people will realize it when the car actually gets bought, used and tuned. What your friend said about cheating on a dyno is correct, many use the handbrake to do so. What he said about higher gears loading the engine earlier thus lowering the boost threshold of the turbo on the rpm range is also correct, with the difference that a smaller gear due to its closer ratio enables the engine to rev faster.
You don't loose more horsepower the more you make. Its not a set percentage that is always attached even if doubling the power. If you have a 45whp loss when stock its going to stay a 45whp loss even if you are making an additional 150whp. Gale Banks talked about this on during his appearance on The Smoking Tire Podcast earlier this year.
Once the aftermarket cracks into this car, we will probably have a large amount of parts, I took a peak at the Japanese Toyota website, and for the supra there is some extra carbon fibre bits as options already.
They have to run it on an awd Dyno. Not just because of traction control but also the abs systems have to see similar wheel speeds. Hell I had my rwd grand Cherokee dyno'd and it lit the dash up like a Christmas tree with traction and abs warnings....I had traction disabled
Dennis Vanderben There’s a couple of reasons and I’m trying to be civil here as possible since this is UA-cam (if you know what I mean). Mostly the hate comes from the Mk4 Fanbois that watches too much F&F films, UA-cam videos that have a 1000hp Supra beating exotic cars and car games that have the Mk4 Supra. Also the fanbois always like to bash any cars and the Mk5 Supra is one of them. Which means they will keep treating Mk5 or other cars that’s not a Supra badly as if it’s the AntiChrist of their Supra Cult. Hell most or some mk4 fanbois like to be salty or toxic by beheading other car guys that supports the new Supra or other cars

Toyota obviously did this on purpose to underrate the power of the engine and the car. They are making this car a New Legend of it’s own. Let’s be honest everyone is all surprised by the dyno numbers!
I'm sure the supra put out exactly the same boost pressure as the bmw Z4, making it 380ish hp. Toyota just given it a underrated figure to keep the price down so people can afford it.
I Know you wana integrate the viewer, but to me it would seem more natural to have a 3rd person view on your conversation about the dyno. Good Luck to you!
The best 0-60 for the MKIV Supra Turbo was 4.6 secs 13.0 @ 109mph 1/4 mile, which was a similar pre-release car like the these MKVs. *Car and Driver 1993. But the average for the MKIV was 4.8 to 5.1 (Back when 6-speeds were faster than automatics). The new Supra is quicker no doubt thanks in part to the automatic. Looking forward to some real comparison tests against other cars and info on your new Supra.
Context matters. 320hp in 1993 was more than most cars in the game. Camaro, Corvettes, Porsches, Skyline GTR, 300zx, 3000gt, RX7, NSX, Firebird etc. Plus when you removed the ultra restrictive downpipe alone you gained 40rwhp without increasing boost or changing the intake or adding an exhaust. All this was too keep the 2jzgte close to that 276hp agreement. 335hp Today is just about average which is why people say it ONKY has that much. I've said before it will sell well due to low production numbers and name notoriety but most current Supra owners cannot accept a BMW engine in a Supra. It looks like its the BMW that BMW owners have beeen waiting for, not the Supra that we Supra owners and Toyota enthusiasts deserve.
Very valid points. The new Supra is not marketed towards Mk4 owners or those who want a Mk4. 17 years has passed. A lot of previous Mk4 owners might have a family and an SUV now.
I didn't say MKIV owners strictly. I said Supra and Toyota owners. I have two 1998 Supras, I dont have kids or minivans. Putting a BMW in a Supra is not respecting the heritage of Toyota, regardless of if it performs. It would be the same as putting a Ford cotoye engine in the new Corvette. Disrespectful to previous owners and the lineage of Corvette.
@@shadyshinichi2JZ That's exactly my point. The current Supra is not marketed towards you. You wanted something different from this car. Something not BMW. You can call it disrespect, but the world has changed dramatically, sports cars don't sell well anymore, and Toyota is not going to sell a $100K sports car to anyone, except a few thousand people. A $100K Supra is a guaranteed failure.
RevMatchTV cars in general aren't selling well period, the sales are in crossovers, trucks, and SUVs. Does that mean not stay true to the name? I dont see Dodge, Nissan, Ford, Chevy, or anyone else doing this with their aports cars. It doesn't need to be tailored to me, it should tailored to be Toyota. Lol Thats not a wildy unpopular request especially since toyota designed the LFA as a starting point of how they wanted to view sports cars in the future. The price point should have been $70k+ range, and could have came out in 2021 with a proper toyota sports engine. The anticipation for its return would have made it successful. But you're right, this car isn't for Toyota owners or those with knowledge of the Supra, its for the post generational fans who want to claim they have a Supra when in reality they have a BMW.
@@shadyshinichi2JZ 70k?that still wouldn't sell at all and with it having 330hp too with a Toyota Motor that would just throw it back in the position the mk4 was when it was selling. BMW or not I'd take the mk5 since its 50k not 70k.
@@josemontano7767 the 370z already lost to the civic type r. There was already a shootout with that car. The civic type r beat it in every aspect. The new supra is faster than a type r. No need for a shootout.
Shawn Liu come on man I've bought a Dodge Charger,a challenger,a viper ,a ram srt10 ,,a Chevy corvette c7 ,and I'm apparently the first owner of these cars!
$52k supra is DOA with its fake vents. $60k Corvette C8 is a supercar. A C8 at $60k is relatively cheap enough that I'm keeping my C7 manual transmission for 3 pedal engagement fun when I get a C8. Unlike other cars that I've owned in that I normally tradein to lower the cost of the new car.
They are using BMW figures IMO. Most European cars under rate their engines as some places around the world basically tax HP. From GTI’s to M3’s, they all seem to make more power. As opposed to say American cars that want the highest number. Additionally, BMW has some strategic reasons to under rate this engine as this is the old variant of the motor and they need to differentiate the new version that produces more power.
Hyper Vanilo damn I did not know about that beast, it’s a little extreme as it’s really a drift car but still amazing. I’d love to have a classic street racer sort of vibe not some Ken block-esque drift machine.
Before Toyota even think about collaborating with BMW, I've swapped my E46 coupe motor with 2JZ 5 years ago. I think Toyota should make an engine for BMW car..😍
I honestly think the MKV will be a great car but wont live up the the MK4. The MK5 will also require less money to get 400-500whp out of but I do worry about long term reliability both stock and modified.
Coming from BMW guys they say the B58 can easily hold up to 700-1000 whp on stock internals and since the B58 is pretty much a N54/N55 thats Bern completely redone(or basically they fixed the major problem both the N54 and 55 had)and they say that it holds power very well and reliably although I think the only problem they said it had was it's oil filter or something but they say that they really don't have any major problems at all really and many BMW owners say it's probably now the most reliable I6 that they've made in awhile since its also a closed decked engine. Plus with Toyota already screwing with the B58 and them saying it's rebuilt to their standards and also since the majority of their engines are closed decked designs it might not actually be that bad since Toyotas already good with closed decked engines already.
@@mrjjthor well that's tru but since the fact that the B58 if I recall it shares a diesel block from the B57 diesel and other diesel components from BMW's diesels which might be stronger if Toyota messed with it.
all this good things about the B58. I’m starting to think a B58-swapped MK4 is a good idea 😅 I mean it’ll make the front end lighter, so it’ll finally have a chance in the corners against an FD or an NA1/NA2 😅😅
Don’t listen to anyone. The point of a MK4 is to build it and have a blast. If you enjoy it, that’s all that matters. And boy oh boy you’d be REAL popular in the car scene for all the wrong and right reasons
And there are deep waiting lines at the dealers. The first batch of cars is already sold out. Lots of people can afford them apparently. Get in line if you want one. You’re going to have to wait.
Dolby109 I want to make content with the new Supra so I’m gonna get one. The market has collectively decided that manuals are unfortunately a nice anachronism. I still have my BMW for a great manual experience.
@@Zeenithian 1) I hate that excuse, it's self defeating. Well make something that nobody wants, and only improve it if people buy it. This is an exaggeration, but it illustrates the point. 2) This was also before Toyota saw how much demand there appears to be for a manual version, and before BMW said they would put one on the Z4, which will likely make it almost no extra cost for Toyota.
Those are M3 dyno numbers I doubt that BMW will make a toyota that compete has as many horses than the M3. Or maybe is that the auto tranny helps it read more at the dyno. Those are very short gears and are always on high rpm when pushing pedal to the floor. I am skeptical about those numbers since the testing was done by an advertising company and nobody elae has done the testing.
RevMatchTV hey....no one has spoken about the possibities of dealer markups....almost every anticipated new release is dealer marked up, it may put the car out of reach for many of us!
They may not bring it up much (my rough estimate is 53-57k)since they might think most of the public will look at it like "oh it's another boring Toyota"
It's not a 6 speed manual do who cares? Honestly it was a mistake not to put a manual transmission in this. With the GT-R you can understand why they went dual clutch auto because of the power it makes but come on the Supra doesn't make much power and its a small car like the mista.....it needs a manual.
I like the new supra, looks cool, goes fast, whats not to like? Most of the moaning is by donkeys who probably drive 1.6 Honda civics and like the fast and furious.
I'm not gonna talk or say something about the horsepower the new Supra produces i did a small history from the 90s up until now and back in the 90s the manufacturers in Japan made a deal for their cars not to surpass the 280 HP mark (if the number is right) however they have proven to have more horsepower than what they say my guess is we have to wait and see what other dyno results will show with 1 or 2 dynos i can't say if it stands true enough. Don't get me wrong i love the car it looks great i don't mind having a BMW engine i say this cause there are many myths already so i'm waiting for them to get busted. My only complain for the car is the lack of the manual transmission in Europe the majority drives stick it's something personally i'm more used to it it's a mechanical transmission they are solid hard to break them down maybe it's just me maybe the automatic is good ''moving with the times'' i'll wait and see if Toyota will add it in the future.

Good point
Great video, I love them all!
In Fontana!? I knew I recognized it! I've been there 3 or 4 times.

Once the aftermarket cracks into this car, we will probably have a large amount of parts,
I took a peak at the Japanese Toyota website, and for the supra there is some extra carbon fibre bits as options already.
The dude in the background taking a nap did not GF LOL!
I was always a fan of the Celica-Supra, lol.... I wish the MKV harked back to the 80s a little more, but it's still an awesome car. Toyota FTW!!!! xD
My friend, Toyota didn’t even make the new supra. The car is made in BMW factory in Austria
They have to run it on an awd Dyno. Not just because of traction control but also the abs systems have to see similar wheel speeds. Hell I had my rwd grand Cherokee dyno'd and it lit the dash up like a Christmas tree with traction and abs warnings....I had traction disabled
.. Just when I thought I may have found a video that doesnt waste my entire life repeating it's history, specs and BMW
The a90 is awesome dunno why people hatin
I can’t wait for you to show how mo faked the Divo. I can’t wait to “Take Delivery” of a new Koeniggsegg Jesko

Thanks for the update. I was quoting rough numbers.
@@revmatchtvNo doubt you were on point. Do you know when you get to take delivery of your MKV estimate? I bet you can't wait...

That trap speed is monstrously high for "just" 330hp!
The new Supra puts the same quarter mile time as a Shelby GT350, but with a lower trap speed. 113mph it’s still fast.
Very quick and competitive for the money.
The Nissan 370Z makes 332HP without a turbo.
Yes. It’s a 3.8L v6.
And yet the performance is nowhere near the new supra.
Well I say let have a Nismo vs Supra shoot out
@@josemontano7767 the 370z already lost to the civic type r. There was already a shootout with that car. The civic type r beat it in every aspect. The new supra is faster than a type r. No need for a shootout.

enough that I'm keeping my C7 manual transmission for 3 pedal engagement
fun when I get a C8. Unlike other cars that I've owned in that I normally tradein to lower the cost of

Very informative! Thank you
They are using BMW figures IMO.
Its 340ish whp and 420ish wtrq there

Hyper Vanilo damn I did not know about that beast, it’s a little extreme as it’s really a drift car but still amazing. I’d love to have a classic street racer sort of vibe not some Ken block-esque drift machine.

I'm enjoying to see all the lie and hate beeing pulverized by the new Supra IRL. The haters are going to have red faces of shame very soon.
@@carboydorifutoparty3976 Well that's good to hear aside from their vanos and bearings horror stories of the past.
@@mrjjthor well that's tru but since the fact that the B58 if I recall it shares a diesel block from the B57 diesel and other diesel components from BMW's diesels which might be stronger if Toyota messed with it.

I was hoping to see the car on the thumbnail boo
all this good things about the B58. I’m starting to think a B58-swapped MK4 is a good idea 😅
I mean it’ll make the front end lighter, so it’ll finally have a chance in the corners against an FD or an NA1/NA2 😅😅
Don’t devalue your car man!
Don’t listen to anyone. The point of a MK4 is to build it and have a blast. If you enjoy it, that’s all that matters. And boy oh boy you’d be REAL popular in the car scene for all the wrong and right reasons

He compared the gear ratio of a simcade racer to real life? Seriously? Looks like the only people who like the new Supra can't afford it.
I am led to believe it’s accurate. There is a lengthy video with Tada and the game designer discussing the car. It’s here on UA-cam.
And there are deep waiting lines at the dealers. The first batch of cars is already sold out. Lots of people can afford them apparently. Get in line if you want one. You’re going to have to wait.

So I like the Supra, except for the lack of manual.

Yes indeed. The name of my channel!
@@revmatchtv I say you should hold out until they sell the manual. Don't encourage the decline!
Dolby109 I want to make content with the new Supra so I’m gonna get one. The market has collectively decided that manuals are unfortunately a nice anachronism. I still have my BMW for a great manual experience.
@@Dolby109 That's not going to help. Toyota said they will only put a manual in if the car sells enough to warrant adding that option.

It's not a 6 speed manual do who cares? Honestly it was a mistake not to put a manual transmission in this. With the GT-R you can understand why they went dual clutch auto because of the power it makes but come on the Supra doesn't make much power and its a small car like the mista.....it needs a manual.

Well aren't you salty?
@@worldofz00 Im salty for speaking the truth!.😂😂😂....idiot
