Nice work, knucklehead! Since OBS can handle Video and Audio separately, you do not need to use the Audio side of the VR-1HD. I used it once or twice, but feel free to tell OBS to use the audio from your audio interface if it helps with lag (audio to video desync). There are some VR-1HD audio effects that are worth experimenting with, such as Voice Changer, Background Music, Special Effect and Reverb, as can be seen labeled next to the Mic 1 input. Speaking of Mic 1 input, the audio effects are only applied to sources physically plugged into Mic 1 and Mic 2. There is no audio processing from any camera mic. Again, if you want to ignore the audio stuff, that's perfectly alright. The main purpose is the camera switching, which could save time in editing. This way you don't have to pick up the camera or stop the recording if you were filming something like a product review. You could also show both competitors on-screen during a video game session using the Split 1, 2, or 3 buttons. It's a bit limiting though, so you'll have to do your Picture-in-picture in OBS as you have already been doing. Another limitation is the length of your HDMI cables. You might have to pick up a longer one. Sometimes it's best not to rely on batteries for cameras, especially if you don't know how long the recording is going to be. You can plug the Canon camcorder into the wall outlet/power strip with the battery removed if you want. Feel free to sell or give away the wooden double rack case if it doesn't suit you. I simply could not fit it in my setup anymore. Cheers!
@@daniel_naaden Oh, I forgot to mention the VR-1HD has a menu for configuration, but you can only see this menu via the Monitor HDMI output. You'll need to plug that into a computer screen/monitor to see it. You can use the Menu and the Value controls on the face of the VR-1HD under "SETUP" I didn't use the menu much but it's worth checking out the hidden options within. Good luck!
