I've beaten Innocence 3 times and devoured Requiem like a swarm of rats. I feel like we should be more empowered when it comes to clearing rats because we're usually at their mercy most of the time. I found Requiem to be quite disjointed-like the first half is repetitive and a bit dull, but then things really pick up and the game becomes truly stunning. Chapter 9 is really my favourite chapter because the exploration is such a reprieve from the monotony of getting by the rats and the irksome puzzles and cart moving. Reminds me of a chapter in Uncharted 4 where all you do is explore an island-it's a gorgeous and utterly beautiful escape-I wish more games had these kinds of chapters where you go exploring and learn more about the characters and story.
Story is Amazing from the chapter Tale and Revelations starting 2 3 hrs is quite boring and slow
On launch day, i've finished the game in one session and it was a marvelous, emotional experience to play. Thanks Asobo Studio.
I was so glad this sequel happened. The first game really was special.
An aspect that was not touched upon in the review is the game's truly stunning integration with the PS5 controller's haptic feedback. From the soothing pitter-patter of raindrops to the unnerving scurrying of the rats underneath, the dynamic rumble really draws you in to the game like none other.

Just started downloading this from Game Pass! Can't wait, the first one was such a treat. Playing it with French audio of course for authenticity
This remembers me when I played Assassin's Creed II in italian for the same reason.
Just like playing Metro Exodus in russian was an authentic experience.

i played a Plague Tale Innocence when it was on Game Pass but i never finished it, i loved what i played so i may buy it sometime and finish it before getting to this one

Yea this one hit me hard and I teared up a bit. I have younger siblings so this definitively hit me in the feels and I love these characters. The gameplay for me was eh but the story, the story is totally worth it.

As someone who loved the first game, the sequel felt like a step back to me. Sure it's larger and looks better, but it felt like..... it lacks focus. I also experienced a LOT of bugs, and am constantly frustrated that you can't dodge like the first game, since this one has way more enemy variety attacking you. You can also get stun locked by melee enemies since their animation for "hitting" you is by proximity rather than an actual strike, and ranged enemies have pin point accuracy so if you're out in the open, your are going to get hit no matter what. The lack of the dodge move baffles me.
Have to agree, loved the first one but this seems one feels like a chore. Encounters feel like puzzles and not natural at all, no idea how many times I have died but so many of those were due to getting stucked or strange AI behavior and so on. You are playing small sections and not one long level. The game is beautiful but I find a lot of the dialogue and plot just annoying.
I think the sequel is definitely better in terms of writing, characters and it's visuals - but I felt like they could've done more to shake up the gameplay and the performance is all over the place on console. The puzzles also felt a bit more satisfying in the first one. I still think an 8/10 is very fair if you can ignore the frame drops (or play on PC)
I like the game a lot, but the performance is kind of bad on my computer. No other game runs that weirdly. I get 60 fps, 15 fps, and a lot of 45-55... That's kind of bad as far as smooth gaming goes. That aside, the game is gorgeous, that alone makes it worth a buy. I wish the gameplay was a bit deeper, but it's fine for what it is.
P.s. I agree with the score actually, great review as always ^^

A rare occasion that I disagree with an EA score, this is easily a 9/10 - a sequel that improves upon the OG in so many ways. Yes it still has some of the jank of the OG and the first couple of hours are a bit dull, but it really opens out into something truly excellent, propelled along by the outstanding score and some film-quality cutscenes and side characters.
Love hearing Jones again. You guys should try to have him on periodically if he's willing!
I was so looking forward to this on PS5 but with the 30fps and technical problems I will give it a miss.
Not to mention the auto-save glitch that sometimes forces you to restart a chapter.
I like the first one. Hope this one is as good.

30FPS on console? I feel a little better that this game is basically melting my laptop on medium settings lol
Started playing it a few hours ago, enjoying it. Loved the first once.
40 FPS on consoles if you have a 120 Hz screen. That’s a nice halfway point between 30 and 60 FPS when thinking about frame times.
Oh, So this is a whole new game. Its name makes it sound like a DLC or even a remaster. Im glad its all new I liked the first one.

I just beat this game... the story is ONE OF THE GREATS. 100% ONE OF THE GREATS.
A great game to be sure and looks absolutely gorgeous on PC, 4K, all maxed out. Truly next gen graphics. Unfortunately, consoles are trapped in 30 FPS or 40 FPS in 120 Hz mode.
PC is also having performance issues even with recommended specs and the auto-save bug exists across all platforms.

It would have been great if Huber would’ve told the game has 40 FPS mode on 120 Hz screens. That’s a great compromise and halfway between 30 and 60 FPS considering frame times. A sign for the future for the consoles, as many games are starting to implement this mode.

1000% disagree with this review score as a big fan of the first game, Requiem is so well made that I am for the most part able to ignore the performance issues and give it a 9
I do feel Requiem is worthy of a 9 in the second half, but the rats really become a huge nuisance. Amicia even groans in disgust at having to deal with them again, yet the game continues on with them.
"So well made" it literally released with progress blocking bugs that sometimes make you have to restart a chapter...
More like a 7, the game has too many bugs and performance issues. The auto-save bug is the worst because it can result in having to restart an entire chapter.
Please. Can the reviewer do their own VO for once? It's so sad and disappointing that only ben has done that since the phase infinity announcement.

The saddest game I’ve ever played.
I really enjoyed the first game but this one i duno the first half was kinda meh and i was just ready to be done by the end of chapter 10. I was like omg be done. I was even blasting through cut scenes which is unlike me. Good ending though but i think ill stick to my souls likes and crpgs.

This game is an absolute slog compared to the first, you spend at least 70% of your time walking in circles, and the plot has not payoff. Requiem is a great big nothing burger.

Ahh more budget and it would have been of the almost same level, the gameplay is far from what tlou is, but still as a AA studio they created such good atmosphere and created a good storymode game...

Nah its a 7 honestly. The game launched with performance issues and progress bugs on all platforms. In some spots the game will literally auto-save as you are dying and forces you to restart the entire chaptet sometimes.
