I own a Namiki emperor. It is indeed comfortable. At first sight it's huge. Afterwards, you see others as too small.
I have slightly small hands so I will test one out. I just love that huge nib
I’ve watched this review and your other video on this pen 5-6 times. I just love this pen and really appreciate the videos. Hoping someday I’ll get to own one. Thanks for letting us live vicariously through your pen collection, Doc Brown.

The Fountain Pen Hospital in NYC has them on sale in both Vermillion and Black. I pass by the case they're in every time I go there and think "One day, gorgeous, one day I'll take you home with me."

I do have this pen with the newer Mt. Fuji nib. IMO, the nib isn't meant for flex or even any sort of line variation that people may want to eke out of it. If you want line variation/flex, you should be looking elsewhere. It has some softness, but that shouldn't be used for flexing and line variation.
Beautiful, beautiful pen. Enjoyed your review as always. However, I think this was a little bit of a missed opportunity - you should have invited the professor to do this one!

I absolutely love how your pen writes. Too bad it's not known who did the work on the nib. Fantastic pen. I love big pens. I saw this at the DC Pen show and it ruined the Montblanc 149 for me. I had wanted a 149 so much. But after holding the Emoeror, the 149 seemed ordinary! Thanks for the great video.

Does the softness of the nib increase with the size? I have a Yukari Royale Namiki and so far it's my absolute favorite nib - kind of interested in an Emperor someday.

Maybe you’d want to post it to cover up the unscrewed back part of the pen if you want to write wet?
On the contrary... the idea is to allow air in. That's why you unscrew it. If you post it, you block the air.

I don't think you can. Once faded, the lacquer will stay faded.
How is this nib compared to the MB 149 nib in size?
Is there any used preowned market?
How does that mechanism compare to the valve system on a Pilot Custom 823? I know the Namiki isn't a vacuum filler, but does it dry out completely if you don't open it every now and then when you're writing?
Mere Blather I haven't had it run completely dry with the valve shut, I think.

You're thinking about his GOAT pen list from 2016. The Emperor was on there, but this is the first time we've seen a full review dedicated to it.

sbrebrown Haha, I was aware of that, but isn't the base metal, as opposed to the ebonite on this? I don't think it has the excellent Japanese eyedropper system either, and makes do with a C/C system. Ah well, having *one* unwieldily massive pen won't hurt.
By the by, forgot to mention I'm happy to *finally* see you review this after all those FB posts!

Hi Stephen, can you please change the intro or at least the sound in the background cos I have to turn my sound down significantly and then you start talking and your almost silent so I have turn my volume back up. Also I think would be kind of off putting to new people to the channel
