    I am glad that someone like you is focusing on the 1920s (my favorite fashion period) in such detail. This decade is often ignored or misunderstood.

    These garments are do pretty. Nowadays, we tend to forget that ladies enjoyed frills and lace and silk undergarments just as much then as we do now. Thank you.

    Yay! Thanks for the link to Clusterfrock. I've been looking for patterns for a 1930s all-in-one with an inner belt like a Charis girdle. These are the first patterns I've seen that could be useable! Or at least work with the patent information. I thought I'd have to hack a 1920s corset and 1930s corset to get the pattern I needed.

      Have you checked out repeated originals on etsy? They have several 30s girdles aswell

    I loved this video, watched it twice now, I’m making my first 1920s dress and also need to make the foundation garments, so grateful to find out about clusterfrocks reef patterns through you!!!
    I have the same waist and hip measure as you do and want to make the same “hip band” pattern, how did y out get yours to print large? As when I try to print it it doesn’t split between regular printer paper 🤷🏻‍♀️ did you go to a print shop?

      No, I just open the file in a pdf reader program, press print and and in the printer settings chose poster

    I also get a LOT of pain from impact pressure. I think I will have to look into coutil undergarments, too.

      They aren't the most comfortable thing in summer heat but definitely a good idea for support! I'm going to try a linen twill for a summer version 😊

    What type of ribbon did you use for the brassiere? Also, do you have a recommendation for where you get your courier? Thanks!

      Mine is a rayon brocade. The most important thing is that it's a sewing supply ribbon not a crafting one so that it can withstand the heat of ironing and wear tear of wear. My coutil is from www.venacavadesign.co.uk/

    Excuse me may I ask?. .Can I use buttons instead of clip busks for my 1920's corset?

    • @sewthroughtime
      @sewthroughtime  Рік тому +5

      If a 20s corset closes with buttons they are typically on the side because buttons don't provide the same flat surface as a split busk. And in that case you would want some sort of stronger boning at the center front to provide the smooth lines

    I hate when ppl say that too! People of all sizes existed throughout history especially in the US and other majority immigrant countries.

      Yep plus in the US movie stars were not stick thin! By the 20s there was a clear difference in the Hollywood ideal versus paris ideal and most people fit neither but luckily there was undergarments so it didn't matter 😊

    The metal spring bones gives the most range of flexibility,but they are SO heavy :/

      Honestly I don't even think so, synthetic whalebone and good quality heavy duty zip ties are atleast as flexible and in my opinion sooo much more comfortable for most things
