Great fight .. I remember it well . Kim was definitely a true warrior . Ray was never the same after that fight . He could never get his head back in it .. Every punch he threw you could see it in his eyes .. He was saying " What if " ..
Kim changed the boxing world for the better. 15 rounds was too much for anyone to take. Especially how cautious people are becoming. Kim impacted boxing matches to being 12 rounds.
even though we didn't see tougher boxers now,but kim's indirect sacrifice did the right thing,if not for him boxing would have been way harder tday, the 15 round conditioning gotta be crazy.
@@TheNeorchThere was another fight when boxing rules were applied because after Tony Marino fought Carlos Quintana, he passed out in Brooklyn and never regained consciousness. Marino was knocked down 5 times in the fight. After that they applied the three knockdown rule. Rip Tony Marino and Duk Hoo Kim
@@wgamer85 tony had it rough damn, the oldschools are way more tough, archie moore got up 4 times to come back at yvon durelle, floyd patterson lost to ingemar johannson going down 7 times, frazier went down 6 times against foreman, and boy, even jess willard has the worst beating, barely standing but dempsey rushed him to death.
I remember watching this fight as a kid. I think it was on abc wide world of sports. Great fight with a trajic ending. Kim's mother killed herself after his death. I think she poisoned herself. The ref did also i belive. Heartbreaking.
Fighters have died during or shortly after their fights since 12 round policy, because most brain damage happens in gym sparring. Duk Koo Kim sparred A LOT, street brawled a lot and add to that - the back of his head hitting canvas covered wooden plank. An accident.
Joe Rogan, that was the reason the networks for cutting back on boxing because a lot of matches are going into the upcoming show what television event because the boxing match with cut into the upcoming time of the next show that's why they went to 12 from 15 and the networks use that excuse for 12 instead of 15 rounds it wasn't the safety of the boxers it was money plain and simple money that changes all things in some sort of time 🥊
It wasn't "Kill or be killed" he wrote. He actually wrote "Live or Die" and he wrote it on the lampshade in his hotel room, not a piece of wood
Exactly
I think it was “win or die”
I sleep better at night thinking it was
"Kill or be Killed"
🥶🥶🥶
2 fucking warriors. RIP
THAT'S BOOM BOOM MANCINI,,,ONE HELL OF A SLUGGER..!!
What do you think Kim was ? A panzy!!!! That was rays toughest fight ever!!!! Sad ending. RIP Kim 😢😢😢

If this fight never had happened, we still would’ve had 15 Rounds and future champs wouldn’t even make it or have earlier signs of brain damage.

If it was for safety, they would have changed things when Emile Griffith fought Benny Paret and Benny died it was on national TV back in the 60s
I watched that fight. It was barbaric
