You are now my go to ukulele tutorial guy. Excellent teacher and encouraging. Thank you Phil!
Another brilliant tutorial. 👍
As always, clear and concise. Thanks Phil
Thank you for sharing you music knowledge with us true gentlemen
Thank you Phil! I am so glad you teach me ukulele! )
Youre great!
Very encouraging. As always.
Great tutorial - again! Thanks a lot!
Just started and this will be a big help, thank you 👍👌.
Brilliant. thank you
Nice one Phil 👍 always a good tutorial 👍
Very helpful, thanks!
Spot on as always, start with a simple way to make music as a foundation and build on it as you go along
Fantastic thanks...
Brilliant. Gives my enthusiasm a boost. Was getting disappointed with all the attention the more modern songs get but to see the huge alternatives available makes me want to get stuck in. Wish there was a collection of these songs somewhere, or at least a listing of them.
Thanks Graeme, I'm working on a list right now. It won't be all of them (too many!) but a decent amount of songs from different eras that you can play with these chords.
I've just added a list of songs in the description, I'll keep adding as I think of more!
Thanks Phil. You’re a gem. I’ll look at it now. Much appreciated.
Good vid!
Really wish I'd seen this about 3-4 years ago when I first started. 😊👍
Very good tutorial! I believe that I discover your channel too late! Subscribed your channel.
Hi Phil, You explain and demonstrate so well, it is falling in place fast. You have so many great videos, can you suggest a rout a beginner should take rather than picking random lessons?
Hi Tony,
I do have a short beginner series on my channel, starting here...
ua-cam.com/video/CTWCmCKggwg/v-deo.html
Then I'd suggest this video on strumming
ua-cam.com/video/8bSmV6IJqBU/v-deo.html
Then maybe this one on the three chord trick
ua-cam.com/video/YZkUk7J3LzA/v-deo.html
And then you should have everything you need to try out my play along videos on this playlist

All the best,
Phil
great lesson thanks.tip have a couple of ukes tned in c d a (or anykey you wish same fingering as c george formby did just that
Thanks Phil!
You might prepare some similar charts in the key of D, F and G, the most popular other keys that we find in popular songs. I'm not suggesting you have similar videos to this one, just provide the same 8 chords for different keys. Most of us can do the key changes ourselves, but for the beginning folks, providing similar sheets would be useful.
That's a great idea, and it will tie into one I'm planning on transposing, thanks!
apply capo to lack of chord knowledge :)
nice post!
Really helpful.... Would it be cheeky to ask.... could you do the equivalent for the G scale? I've got a low singing voice and and haven't mastered barre chords. I can play these 8 chords and if I really mastered them, plus the 8 equivalents in the G scale... I'd have as much as I need!
Hi David, there's a lot of crossover with the key of G. What you would need would be G, C and D7 for the first 3 chords. The you would add the Em. The next two would be Am and B7, and the last two would be E7 and A7. You can play B7 without barring as 2320 or 4320. Hope this helps!
You are great, how about some song tutorials👍
Thanks Dave,
I have over 100 song tutorials on my Patreon page. I tend not to post many here as so many songs are still under copyright and I end up with a copyright strike!
Do you have video's on how to do chord melody or fingerstyle?
I have a short series on fingerpicking, and there are some chord melody videos on the way!
@@PhilDoleman THANK YOU!
That D chord... instead of pressing just the 3 notes in that fret, u just bar it and in stead of an open A u press the A in a higher octave to complete the chord??? Is that wut he did? Cause thats way easier. Wait... i get it! Thats basically a C chord but since u use yer finger to bar the fret... the C becomes a D cause u go down a full step down the neck!!! I get it now!
Bingo!
How does anyone look for a list of songs with these cords in them
You find hundreds of them in any uke club songbook, but I'll compile a list of some of them and add it to the description.
I've just added a list of songs in the description, I'll keep adding as I think of more!
If only I knew this when I started...
I hate to complain but this video was just too good.
I really might be forced to have too much fun.
I don't know if I've told you but My Mama Don't Allow No Ukulele Playing Around Here!
