Kenny, just to tell you, "Simple Ken" is arguably THE BEST LONG RECORDING OF SOMEONE TALKING, on this planet, and you know what, best things require long breaks. No Stress, don't blame yourself, it's all perfectly perfect. Just as I finish this Long Comment of me Commenting, wanted to let you know that all of us are excited for those next Comedian Cameos. Much Love :)

As a gen z to hear I'm responsible, compassionate, caring from a complete stranger feels really nice. Especially when we are always looked down in the name of "seniority" and not taken seriously. Its sort a like a validation

Hey kenny! Today I wanted to narrate a story about when I met you, and then ask a question about it as well.
We were at the Mumbai airport, and I saw you at the check in counter. It was afternoons time and not a lot of youngsters were around. I was staring right at you thinking if I should come up and say hi or would it be too annoying.
You did see me staring and I felt so awkward. Then I saw you walk up the escalator. I quickly caught up and came behind you and just said, Kenny I love you.
You turned and laughed and then after we got off the escalator we had a small chat and clicked a photo.
It was super sweet and fun to me and it’s one of my really fun little memories.
Which brings me to my question, how often do you get annoyed with fans coming up when you arnt in the mood and how do you deal with it. And has there been any embarrassing times that you were rude to somebody and regretted it later.
    Lots of love

*I seriously saw someone said that they have suicidal thoughts when thinking about not having aims in life. But before I could post my reply, the comment was deleted. So to the one who posted and deleted the comment, this is for you bruh*
Join the Club Bruh! But the suicidal thoughts are damn bad man... Get some medical help before it gets Worst. (Telling this from Personal Experience)
And yes, sometimes we do feel like there's no aim or goal in life.... But isn't being alive is a pretty privileged aim in life😊 I know I'm being annoying by saying this but still....
Some times we should be lost to be Found ✨

Dear Kenny, it's nice to see you back after four months. I was wondering if I could give you a little something to try out. Maybe, as a social experiment, you could try not being chirpy for the next Simple Ken long recording. Personally, I sometimes don't have the emotional energy to put on a persona to make content watchable. And I'm a journalist so I got to push myself to the brink fairly often. Maybe, somewhere along the line, we'll also discover what clicks with the audience and what doesn't. Just as a social experiment within this community. Thanks for reading!

I was having a depressive episode and just wanted to listen to someone talk about "something else". This really calmed me down. I got so many new perspectives and it somehow really helped. I literally just stumbled upon this gem and it turned out to be one of the most relevant thing I have heard in a long time. Really enjoyed listening to this. Thank you. Big Hugs!

Thank you for answerimg my question Kenny. It was the most straightforward and practical advice I have got regarding this issue.
I am already working on being independent and eventually move out. I do fulfill my duties towards some family memberd without loving them. I haven't always been lucky when it comes to friends, but I have a few a value a lot and vice versa.
    Thanks again.

Hi Ifrah, hope you are doing well. I wanted to write to you regarding your question. You asked about bullying and harrassment and that does not come from family. Whoever these people are, you guys are destined to have mutual ancestoral history, just that. Only blood connection and no emotional ties. They are not entitled to your time or your attention. You have to feel empowered enough to be able to not give them what they are not entitled to. And that comes with money/financial independence and education. You need not be under their financial or any other kind of burden. Money and awareness/education will give you power to be able to avoid them or tell them what they are doing is not unacceptable. Once you have these, you are sorted. You will not take any shit from anyone yourself. If any conventional ways of society forces you to stay with them and they are going out of hand, it is only your mental strength that can give you peace - either by speaking back or ignoring. You have to have a strong heart to be able to not get affected by them or decide to move out of your house.

    Hi Kenny!
Happy to see a public figure give out realistic opinions than framing idealistic expectations in viewers which may or may not happen. I'm a practicing Licensed Clinical Psychologist since the past 5 years now, and wanted to shed some light regarding how to choose the right therapist and who can call themselves a "Psychologist" in India:
    1. Before approaching a therapist, know what you're looking to be helped with. For daily life problems, a Counselling Psychologist would do. But for anything on the lines of Clinical Depression, Anxiety, OCD etc. can only be worked upon with the expertise of a Clinical Psychologist.
    2. Once you've understood the difference, always go through the credentials of the therapist, have a look at the work they've put in and lastly make a list of your expectations out of someone you'd be sharing your most insecure and vulnerable self with. Based on these checks, no one therapist will fit all. Get on a consultation call or go have 2-3 therapists on trial to see who fits your boat the best.
    3. The most important part, who can call themselves a "Psychologist". Please don't confuse self-proclaimed life coaches or motivational speakers for therapists. The minimum qualification to not just call yourself but also practice as a therapist is a MA in the specific field of Psychology, just a BA won't do. The same follows suit for a Clinical Psychologist, with the only difference, they should hold a 'license number from RCI" to even call themselves a Clinical Psychologist, only a MA in Clinical Psychology is not enough.
Please make an informed choice as it's a matter of your life more than money. Just like you wouldn't ignore your physical heath to a point of no recovery, please save up to invest in mental health too. Also, the get the 'best" therapist, please don't shy away from shelling out the fees which is worth the time and effort they put into helping you navigate your life.
    Hope this helps!
    Love & light,

#simpleken hey Kenny how you doing? I want to know yours views about birthday depression. From last 3 4 birthdays I have been noticing this pattern that I overthink the day before about have I achieved Amy thing compared to people my age. Or I am upto the expectation people have or even I have with myself. Also that do I deserve all this and why can't I be happy on my birthday? I ruined all my birthdays just acting weird and not wanting to celebrate it. When I say I don't want to do anything people around me get disappointed and all the shitty stuff I am just irritated with birthdays now. Is this a real thing? Or am I only the one? Love your work. Take care

I definitely agree with this long recording of being therapeutic. I don't watch videos or podcasts like these before because of a shitty attention span. I admit, and deeply ashame, I skip the intro. But after two months of binge-watching Simple Ken, I'm now a fan of podcasts! And long recording of someone talking of course. I would never skip the intro anymore cause I might not hear it for the next two years. Much love from the Philippines!

    Hi Kenny,
Love your work! I have a couple of questions for you.
    1. As someone in their late 20s, I get a lot of these pressurizing questions like When are you getting married, When are you settling down etc. I haven't found my person yet and I want to wait a while before thinking of other options. Have you faced such pressure from family or friends (as you are also in that age range) and if so, how do you deal with it?
    2. What is the best advice you can give to people in their 20s? Is it really the end of the good life once we become 30? All movies and music market the 20s as this golden period of life after which its all downhill. Is that true?
And finally, I'm sure you, like the rest of us, have been in love and whatnot. What is the greatest lesson you have learned about love and relationships? What do you look for in a relationship now as opposed to 10 years ago?
I enjoy the occasional bout of introspection and I like to pick people's brains, so thought I'd ask. Totally cool if you want to skip any haha.
Keep doing great work man. Appreciate it.

hey kenny , ik ur reading this lol cuz u keep saying that u read all comments. ur thoughts on the newer generation kinda shocked me- , mostly cuz i started thinking very negatively of this generation for how it sometimes it looked selfish , maybe it was a personal stuff but i realised through u that there are things which our generation is doing which is litreally so nice but at the next moment u see someone being very immature . i think mostly this is cuz of the "bad side " of internet . also i wanted to thank you so much for always advising (one useful thing abt this long recording ) to get therapy , the only reason why i feel happy today was through someone posting a long recording of talking , so thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

Hi Kenny, one question. Stick till the end. First of all, big fan since 5 years, smth.
I'm a medical student in my 2nd year in Europe. Came here in Dec 2020. I totally agree with you on "even dream jobs" have things you don't like. Similar to mine, being a doctor has been my dream since I was 8. And I soon realised this bitter truth of life. If any one Asks me for advice, I tell that "DO ANYTHING but mainly for the sake of doing it" if it pays you well, good for you but if it doesn't, (sadly for many ppl) look out for a source of income and pursue your "passion" like a Weekend hustle, don't leave main job, until you can scale it up.
My question is (quite existential) : is it really fair that we mind (sorta complaining) about all these problems (coming from a place of privilege) when there's an entire city of children sleeping empty stomach??

Everyone deserves a long break, and this is coming from a person who has had no breaks in the last 10 years.
But one day I will, and that will be the last day I will work under someone as a slave.
Although I can apply for say 10 days break, but knowing that I will have to return to that fucking office after the break ruins the entire leave.

    • @withlove_swetha
      @withlove_swetha 2 роки тому +1

      I truly agree😊
Even though we all are eager in looking forward for Simple Ken, we all should understand that Kenny is a Human too.... He too can get tired of Things, he too can get stressed out and he too NEEDS A BREAK! The time doesn't matter, it is the Recovery Process which matters... Some people can just recover from being stressed within hours while Some people will take years to cope with it. (Personal Experience talking here😁)
He knows we want Simple Ken but also we should understand him that He's doing all of these for us and not only for himself... Remember the second episode with Kanan?! He said "I'm doing things mostly for the people and the audience". He's doing everything for us but we are just stressing him out more.
He's such a Gem and a Hard working Person. My head hurts when I think of losing my sleep for others for 10 Whole Years! I said that Next Year is too much of time but if the next episode comes out Next Year, I won't be angry on him... Instead, I'll just watch the episode 😂 Because we all should understand that the happy Kenny Sebastian in the video is not the only Kenny Sebastian....
He too have problems. And we shouldn't be increasing more problems and putting more pressure on him by simply asking to do the next episode regularly. Instead we should understand and support him if he's going through some bad phase of life❤️
      Just remember Ken 😊
We love you for who you are 😁

As a mental health professional, just clarifying a few things about therapy -
    1. Please choose to go to a therapist with at least a Master's degree. Undergraduates are not supposed to be offering therapy services. Unfortunately, there is no regulating body in India for therapists. So you will have to do your own due diligence before choosing a qualified therapist.
    2. Only 0.8% of the budget is allotted for the mental health industry and the ratio of therapists to people is 1:100000
    Thank you 😄

Hey Kenny, been watching your videos since comicstan. I am a 15 year old in my 10th grade. And honestly I don't know what I'm good at or what I really like . I think I'm good at developing football tactics, but since football never gets representation in this country, I have no benchmark to compare myself with. So my question is what do you think i must do after my 10th boards, how to find your passion And do you think studying what you're going to do in your career is overhyped? Considering that you're doing something completely different from what you studied in college.

    Hey Kenny
I've been thinking about art and creation, and its relationship with being a source of income.
As a kid, I used to read about rock bands that made really good edgy music. As soon as they get signed to a record label, their music deteriorates, and the suits take over.
What is your opinion on creating art for extrinsic rewards or using the art one creates to earn a living?
Is art created in exchange for an extrinsic reward in any way different from one created for the sake of it?

I think..as humans were constantly in search of some change..some movement..the moment stagnation takes over it gets hard to keep doing it..if art is what gives u ur ikigai(reason reason wake up) follow it with all ur heart then and see where it lands u..also practically thinking it is true that art as a career is a bit of a gamble..and honesty when money is involved things get complicated..ur comment reminds me of that rock band..nirvana

Now that people are wrapped in their houses , I also heard comments from my friends their mental health is deteriorating and insecurities sometimes make them feel as losers . What were your insecurities when you were growing up .. how did you overcome it ..and what is your opinion about mental health and teenagers
I must tell you that I like your podcast because its damn relatable with ordinary life . You're doing a good job . Stay blessed kenny!

Never be feel bad for taking a break Kenny ✨
You need it and deserve it and we all should give it 🤗
*This is for the people who would be reading this and especially for the people pressuring Kenny to do Simple Ken* 👇👇👇
We love you for who you are 😁
Love you and Take Care ✨

    Hi kenny,
Thank you for finally uploading ❤️
First of all, If you don't like people calling it a podcast, WHY HAVE YOU TITLED IT AS PODCAST?
    The nation wants to know.
Anyway, I love watching these long recordings, i started watching your content when i was in 10th standard, now I'm 22.
Dating rules indian guys need to follow was the first ever video I watched of yours and i remember sending it to my then boyfriend because I thought it was hilarious and him taking offense for some reason. That relationship was very toxic and he stalked and threatened me when I ended things with him. When I think about that relationship i sometimes remember how he took offense over a comedy video, and how I should've know then.
Since then, I've watched you sing, draw and ofcourse perform comedy.
So anyway, do you ever wonder how you impact other people's lives in ways you don't even know, how many stories or memories you're part of that you may have no idea about, it's kind of amazing and scary to think about. How does it feel to be famous is what my question is, I think.
Thank you. And I love watching you.

Ur question is super unique! And ur right we go on touching lives we have no idea about ..and maybe we never will..but think about the magnitude of impact just one person can make..so if u can channel all ur energy into being that light for the world..then it doesn't matter who or how many people u have impacted!

oh my god, I was so scared that this show was gonna end....I watched every episode twice just to keep myself sane, this is probably my first comment ever and I just have to type this....... This year was super crazy for me not just because of corona and shit but like ya last few months were just not that good and that was when I discovered
#simpleken I was listening to it while doing like everything studying, eating, writing, reading..... whenever I didn't want to study I used to listen to it and it used to motivate me I don't know what it was but listening to you somehow gives me an assurance that everything is gonna be fine.
I had so many questions but at this moment I am just getting super emotional anyway comming toward my question, I am kind of into dark comedy and stuff but whenever I say something about death in front of my parents(of course not the extreme stuff) but like just some jokes and shit they get super serious and starts asking about what type of people I am hanging out with or what type of stuff I am reading or watching.....like even if I am just a little sad they directly assume I am depressed and okk they want to help me but the solution they come up with is that all these problems are due to my lifestyle that I don't exersice enough I don't follow a correct sleep schedule that when they were kids they didn't face such types of problems... again maybe I am overreacting and they are just trying to help me but still it makes me uncomfortable its like getting inferirioty complex about your own parents and I want to convey it to them but they will just say that I am getting rebellious......what should I do?
    #simpleken

    • @withlove_swetha
      @withlove_swetha 2 роки тому +1

Great question and Welcome to the Club, Sis😁
Being into dark comedy and stuff are not a pretty bad thing. The world is revolving and Everything is just becoming great day by day. But the only thing which can't be changed is the society we live in is far more away from the true reality...
TBH, I was a girl who was very taboo talking about periods, sex and stuff. Even I was very scared about using swearing Words out in public. But then I got to know that I'm not controlling myself, it's the society which is controlling me. Then I broke out from it and now I'm much more myself. I watch dark stuff, I talk about periods and sex so openly and publicly without fear. And I'm happy. Even though I get faces when I talk about them, I don't care. Because we are the new generation which is gonna rule the world! We break all the shitty stereotypes the world has made.
But unfortunately, our parents are still binded with the stupid society and stereotypes. And they think we get influenced by each and every thing we see or we get involved, which is not true at all. I do watch dark comedy and enjoy them but that doesn't mean I do the stuff said in it such as sex. I just enjoy it as a content but I don't implant in my life! Like I'm just 18 😂😂😂. But we can't do anything about it. ANYTHING!!! Trust me, I have tried and the only one thing which happened was me giving up😅
Parents have this thing that they are perfect in every way and they expect us to be just like them... But we can't, because we are not them. You are Gargi and I'm Swetha. We are ourselves and we can't be just like our parents. Yes of course, we might have the same characteristics of our parents and we might behave like our parents in certain situations. But that never means that we can just be like our parents. We know it but they don't and they expect alot from us.
Believe me, not only ur parents, every Indian parents will definitely bring up the topic "When I was young", "During our Days when we were a Child".... I know it's very irritating and annoying, but what can we do other than being quiet and act like we are listening to them 😅
But until we are old enough to move out (just like Kenny did), we can't change their perspective on Life which is not tangible with the real world today. Our perspective is different and their perspective is way more different.....
I'm happy that your are trying to help you but the solution they come up with is indeed pretty lame 😅 Even my parents say the same thing, but your parents are trying to help you while mine are just nagging at me 😂
Talking about dark stuff with parents are the most scariest thing in the world and I don't know how you get the courage to do it so 😅 If I did it, I know I'll be dead the very next day(Not being sarcastic 🙂). I did it once though and you don't know how much they scolded me and I was crying non stop for a Week. But then I became more cautious about what should I tell my parents and what should I not tell my parents.
And yes! It does feel hell uncomfortable when our own parents don't understand us that nothing is wrong with us. Conveying it to them can be very hard. I don't if this is the the right way and I'm not saying that this is what you should do (Because I'm no one to force you 😊). This is just my point of view. Pick a day on when ur parents are in a great mood or spend the entire day with them with a happy vibe, then sit down and talk about ur problem to them. But don't get straight to the point! Just talk about normal stuff and navigate slowly to the topic you wanna talk about. It does take a lot of skills and effort to do this and I learned this the hard way, but I personally feel that this is only way you can talk to ur parents about ur feelings.
If they understand you, it's great👍🏻
But if they don't, don't worry too much🤗 You can always have your friends to talk about ur feelings. But it'll become a big issue if you don't share ur emotions with someone. At least have one person in ur life to talk about it. Like a friend, sibling, or relative just anyone. If there's someone like that in ur life, then you are sorted Buddy. Not just about feelings, but you can talk about anything you want with them like dark comedy.
I hope Kenny takes up your Question to see his point of view 🤗
Until then, Take Care Sissy 💕

Hi kenny I am 17 currently , I have been listening to your your long recordings since episode 1 . I have tried a few other podcasts but I never found myself to be enjoying it as much i do yours. My question is even though my parents spend so much time for my education and money for buying me things that I want and need, there seem to be an inseparable ridge between us .I am much happier spending time with my friends to the point where I loathe family trips . I find myself unable to have a deeper bond with them , most of my conversations seem to be dry or boring especially with my father since he is a very conservative person i cant talk about anything ' fun ' or ' interesting ' because of the generation gap . I know i don't have the ability to change their personalities but I crave a more intimate bond with them . What are your thoughts about this matter ?

@kenny, the simple Ken videos feel so calming and relaxing to watch cause I feel it such a ‘chai pe charcha’ type of conversation. I have been watching your content since I was around 15/16 and now I’ll turn 24 in another 6 months. And through all of this, my thoughts and views about things are changing and evolving. So the way I look at things has changed so much and I don’t think I’d be able to relate to this 6 years ago but now I do understand some of where your views come from. And it’s crazy how much a person evolves every year and with every experience. I have watched your stand up, live shows as well as simpleken and this community itself feels so different. It feels so homely so unique (can’t find the right words tbh) but if I’d to come up with something similar I’d say, listening to simple ken everytime you upload a video would be like listening to your grandma telling you tales as a kid. Ofc you won’t relate to everything but it makes you homesick for the person for whom you probably would be a username and a tiny display picture. I have lost my train of thought but I hope I managed to explain even a bit of what this long recording of you does for us. It’s calming and it seems like a constant in this whole *adulthood sucks but you are going to love it* scheme of life

Hey Kenny! Just a few days back, I was wondering what I'd listen to on my walks, once I finished all the episodes of Simple Ken. But, then, you released a new episode, and I was so glad! These long recordings helped me put some things into perspective, especially at times when I was frustrated that no one could get me. It felt like a conversation with one of my friends.
I took psychology as an elective in college, and now whenever I see someone reacting in any way to an issue, I've started going, "This person has probably been treated like this, so they're reacting like that" or "It's childhood trauma". I'm an engineer, and not a professional psychologist as I took that subject for only one semester. But ever since my friends and I started introspecting a lot, I began trying to analyze and understand why people behave the way they do, which just raises thoughts like that sometimes. When I tried to psychologically analyze my family's behavior everywhere after that, it released a whole new can of worms, because damn, Indian parents have issues! I know I shouldn't have done it XD. Now, I feel like almost everyone needs therapy, if we're going by the standards in the more developed countries. What do you think about this?
Btw, Thank you so much for the not-therapy-but-still-therapeutic-recordings! I heartily wish you the best for the future!! #simpleken
