The Oak Ridge Boys - I'm Working On A Building
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2024
- From their 2005 Feed The Children TV special, "Songs From The Heart." The Oaks performing one of their more recent Gospel hits.
(I apologize for the video quality, as it came from a VHS with a poor transfer)
Group members are Joe Bonsall, Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, and Richard Sterban.
WOW...Richard's voice has just gotten fuller and deeper over the years. One of the best bass singers ever in my opinion!
Richard Sterban is one of my favorite bass singers...that E-flat @ 2:18-2:19 was incredible!
5/5 and favorited! :)
Nobody beats Richard
Sherian Coleman true that
I’d say London Paris does but Richard is indisputably one of the best. Richard learned from J.D. Sumner the lowest bass singer to ever live and he shows it.
I agree with you. Back when he helped elvis out with the stamps and JD he was not near this good. Richard is one of my favorite bass singers! MAN! He can flat rumble the walls!
Very good version. God bless🎉
Rock version (2:42)

He's the tenor. Duane is the lead.
I do love Joe's voice. A very strong tenor voice.
This is one of the best examples of Richard's deep bass voice! They all blend exceptionally well in this song.
Richard got an amazing bass voice. There's not that many bass singers out there.
Richard is my favorite Oak.
I'm working on a building the oak ridge boys song music video.
Jon Adams Why do you keep commenting this on different videos?
@@kfclit1199 LOL
Richard is one of the best bass singers I have ever heard!.... He sounds really nice and he is cute too....
They don't make 'em like they used to. What an amazing mix of voices, they blend perfectly.
O Lord Jesus, work on my building as I wait to go up to heaven to get my reward.
Richard Sterban is one of the few American Basso Profundos. That Eb is SICK.
One of the best gospel songs ever sung in my uncle Richard opinion. God bless you and I will see you one day wild man.
I also liked Sterban at 3:07-3:12...Rewa-wa-wa-wa-waaaaaaarrrd!
Awesome ending. I believe that last note by Sterban was a low E-flat, just an octave above the double low E-flat after the second chorus.
Oh yes they ARE THAT GOOD live ! I've seen them problly close to 20 times and they are ........ WOW ! thats all I can say !
SonicDude87....If you've never seen The Oaks, you need too!!! I've seen them four times and each time I enjoy them. But, as a kid I remember seeing them on Sunday morning on the Gospel Jubilee, as well as the Statler Bros. Both or fantastic. The Oak Ridge Boys Rule!!!
BucK Savage saw them in Early '80's when Bobbie Sue was New ! The COMMODORES were Before them That Night @ Reunion Arena, in Dallas, Texas
Such Harmony, and This Quartet has been doing it As a Group since'96, when William Lee Golden Rejoined the Goup ! Glad He came Back, after the Rift ov'r Retirement Age, of 50 !
2:15, if you want to hear Richard's low note
I have to say, sterban impresses me more than any other living bassist at the time (tim riley a close second)but honestly this man knocks the bottom out of every note. I have not heard a song by these men that Sterban did not stand out. Even if it didn't feature him! He finds a way to RUMBLE thro.
I love this song and can listen to it all day. I hate how everyone comes on this video and hates on Joe or Richard and Bill. They are amazing and you guys have to remember...Richard might not be all to hit notes George could or Tim Riley but Richard has a manlier tone to his singing voice. An Joe wasnt "high" or anything geez don't watch the video if you don't like it
Sarah Elizabeth UA-cam Search, " I know what lies ahead", For More FANTASTIC Richard Sterban BASS Singing !

👍 I agree.
All my life I always wanted to be a bass singer just like Richard Sterban and while I can sing a little bass I'm more of a tenor and will never have the voice that Richard does.
Same with me
+mitchell austin i have a rather deep voice myself at 15 not gonna claim a ridiculously low range but i think i can get pretty low for only being 15
+Chase C. Hang in there...your voice will probably deepen a little further as you get older.
lkhay, I hear Ya' on wanting to Sing BASS, like Richard Sterban! :'( :-( I was A HIGH BassLow Baritone, like Bill Gaither, bur, Fights w/Brother, when he would Grab Me by Throat, damaged Vocal Cords, and a Busted Nose didn't "Hrpp" matters NONE !
are you with a group ?
That's a wonderful song with a great arrangement. I would like to hear the original audio.
The video quality is fine. The song quality is superb. The performance quality is magnificent. To be expected from ORB.
The one in the gold suit is Joe Bonsall.
No, I don't recall Trace Adkins being in the oak ridge boys. That is Richard Sterban singing bass
Gives you chills, Don't it?
I would like to see more videos like this one!!!!!!! GREAT WORK!!!!!!
I just luv this video/song/rendition. GREAT!!!
richard is amazing
Richard Sterban is amazing. The guy in the gold jacket looks insane though
Haha yeah because i heard this and the Studio version back to back and I was like, WOAH they are really good live or he used a recorded track. Haha. But either way its a great video. Keep doing what you do! :)
this video is awesome.i like the one that has a deep voice.
Richard Sterban
Amazing song oaks
I think it's wonderful!
I love this song and them
First time I heard this song was on christian radio, near k-zoo, mich in 1984, sung by Mylon LeFevre.......HOLY COW!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Blew my MIND😊😊😊!!!!
amazing!!!
Amen y’all!

@bigmrclean I agree. When the Oaks first started Richard was still good, but it seems that his range has naturally gotten deeper and deeper over the years. He seems to be using less and less vocal fry to get down low. Now that is an already accomplished singer getting even more extraordinary due to God's blessing.
For all those who asked, YES, in the live version, Richard DOES knock the bottom out of that Eb1. And he actually sounds better on those two solos in the live version in my lifelong-Oak-Ridge-Boys-fan opinion (born in 1982, and one of my first words was "Elvira").
/watch?v=JbH8hrNYPpk
Pure good ole gospel
Agusto Duarte, Tim Riley, Long Time Bass Singer for Gold City is No Slouch, Either ! ALSO, Harold Reid of The Retired Statler Bros. QUARTET.
The one in the gold jacket is Joe Bonsall
This was performed to the studio recording. You can see at 2:07 Joe Bonsall takes the lead vocal. He lowers his microphone at 2:28 while still singing. Still a great tune though!
Excellent! lip sync or not.

the oaks where told to be amazing live never had the chance to see thom tho
Who came here because of Home Free's version of Elvira?
me!
+Lynx Cub I came here cause I love the oaks......and home free!
@dtheea amen--he gets better with age--all of them do! unfortunately when i was young i sang soprano in the high school chorus. now that i am in mys 50's i can sing almost a low as richard--just a funny thing i practice
Because I love that bass
1) JD Sumner 2) George Younce,Richard Sterban,London Parris, Tim Riley ....
GREAT VIDEO! SPECTACULAR SOUND!!! Excellent syncing job. Good addition to the Southern Gospel presence on youtube. Thanks.
Were there any more Oakridge Boys cuts on the CD? Any idea whether or not the CD is still available?
AMEN TO THAT
Btw, i did notice the applause thing. Haha i was like "Why are they clapping for so long?!" haha. :)
Did you take the recorded audio and put it to the live video? Or are they just THAT good live? Either way this is my new favorite song! :)
I didn't read through every single comment on this, so not sure if this has already been mentioned. However, other than the applaud at the beginning this sounds like the studio version of the song was dubbed over the actual live recording.
The studio version was edited over this video, but if you search for oak ridge boys I'm working on a building and go a little farther down, you should see a video from the channel Southern Gospel BR which is the actual performance.
I sang that song before
Best Bass in this time
Too bad it;s playback. Sound exactly like the cd (instuments and the oaks). Richard sounds to bassy. But nice video. More Please...
I'm working on a building the oak ridge boys
Which voice is higher? Lead (Duane Allen) or baritone (William Lee Golden)???
true
No, just for Personal Singing, Ive got a "Prisonwr Voice" "Behind a FEW Bars, searching for a KEY" ! My Vocal Range, which was More a Low Baritone/ Harmony Bass, Has seemed to Move UP, Instead of Down !
if i was a sinner i will tell you what i would do--have them come and work on my building. i'm having some plumbing problems
That was Richards lowest note he'd ever hit at that point in time. I believe an Eb , as someone had stated.
todd shawgo That is correct......Eb1
Yeah that's super low
Try on the End of God Will Take Care of You ! That Might be Lower.
I think Richard hits a spoken-ish D1 in Boom Boom (which was of course recorded after Working On A Building). Not as impressive as the Eb1 in this song though.
2:16
can u post the live version of this
Does Richard hit the low notes like he did in this???
Haha thats what i was thinking! :)
I never knew richard could get that low till I saw this video. My opinion he's the second greatest bass. George younce of course is #1!
Charles J.D. Sumner is Basso Profoundo
But do they sing live on your VHS? If it's so, I wonder how richard sings the low notes.
Is that First Baptist Church in Auburn, Ky??
Why is this just the studio version with a bad loop of audience applause?
Does anybody know, did Richard go for the E flat in the live performance?
yes. You can search it up, and there's a video by Southern Gospel BR of the live performance without the studio version dub.
JoshiBOI do you have a link for this? I can’t seem to find it
Is Joe the lead or the tenor?
JD Sumner is the best, but Richard is a very close second :)
nah,, tie for number one richard sterban and george younce.. they both knew how to "color it green" ,, they produce an actual note on the low end ,,not just a growl.
tim riley comes close second..
jd sumner maybe third,, yeah he growled out some low notes and was a good bass,, but his lows are just growls, cupping the mic and overdriving the the mix,, ,,jd did not or could not "color it green"
JD Sumner is 18 times Guiness Book recordist for the lowest note. Nuff said.
Augusto Duarte Richard's voice is smooth and he rarely goes out of pitch. Not all bass singers has the control he has.
todd shawgo correction:HE NEVER GOES OF PITCH !
todd shawgo but the rest i agrre
@obiwanda i totally agree :) lol
if thats wat u think then why are you even listenin to this song??
what is the name of the man in the golden suit??
Joe Bonsall
I'm 17 and can do it.
hello. I can not understand the Brazilian music. Do any of you could post the letter of it,? ... please. just want the letter, as well of me to translate
It is American, actually.
@dtheea ha ha what i forgot to mention is that i am a women. my sister says it is not feminine. i still think it is really funny
@rockytenorbanjo Richard Sterban sounds too bassy? That's funny
I'm 13 and can do it.
3 years ago now its 16 can you still hit the notes ?
now he is 18-19 years old)
@EnchiladaMan360 Amen to that brother!
yea i cant wait til i get as low as he can
yea ok..
I am not quite as religious as they are--but I think god will take me on trial basis.
NO, Teresa Dressel ! It was Not by Works of Righteousness, but By GRACE ( Unmerited Favor ) HE Saved US, when WE come to HIM in Faith ! Our works of "Righteousness, are as a Woman's Feminine Napkin, and YOU know how GROSS That Is !
Teresa Dressel
Not good enough. You need to believe in His Son, Jesus. Grace through faith in Jesus is the only way to God. John 6:14.

Fixed it.
I thought oak ridge boys had five guys huh
Maybe you should read the good book aka Bible that says "judge not that ye be not judged
jessekreider Finish that Verse, For with what JUDGEMENT YOU mete out, by, That Shall YOU be Judged/Same Standard !
@bassman3294 Well, where would we be without women in the world?
I'd hate to be the bass player in that band. My only thought would be 'I'm literally the most unneeded person here."
is that trace adkins?? was he in that group at some point??
trace adkins got nuthin on Richard sterban in my most humble opinion.
NRAman 1776
No
I hate lip syncing. Either do it truly live or don’t do anything at all.
Or, I dare say...they are lip syncing this.
he hit a very ow note... but i think he fried it. still amazing, but it wasnt' chest
from what ive read its a legit chest note
to me it seems like chest voice. Very, very low. very few people in history have been able to sing that note.
It seems more of a chest than a fry, or maybe a mix since alot of people can mix a fry with a chest.
Allright Mr. Bill Golden, this is God's House, shave your face join the human race, and take off the Hat, dress like you did back in the early 70s before you lost your razer, and knew how to use can of shaving cream, but you need a whole case in your case.
TheShospitali , GOD looks @ ones HEART, Not on the OUTSIDE ! Abraham, Moses,Elijah, John the Baptist ALL had Long Beards ! So Ease Up On William Lee Golden !
all satanists must not know the message this song holds
Hard work is its own reward. Unless you follow the left hand path of our dark lord Satan. Then it's heavy metal, loose women, and quality drugs all day, everyday.
arglbargl ,Yes, and LAKE o' FIRE for ETERNAL RETIREMENT PLAN ! :-(
Too bad there's no heaven or a god, all that hard work for a non-existent reward.
You don't believe in God because you weren't raised up in a church. If God didn't exist, we wouldn't either. He created this world basically by speaking it into existence and made us out of the dirt of the ground. That part you might already know, but it is very important and crucial to everyone's lives. Before I get back to the other stuff, you said "there's no heaven or a god," but do you believe in Hell? Because if not, you need to get your heart straight. God judges us by our hearts, not by our outward appearances. He blesses, He performs miracles, He does everything that is good, then there is the opposite of God, which some call Lucifer, but Christians interchangeably call him Satan and the Devil. Satan is the one who puts into many peoples' minds the mindset that "there is no Heaven, Hell, but most of all, no God," and Satan's job is to corrupt the world, curse everyone he can (which is why most non-Christians die at extremely young ages (usually 20s-40s) due to drug overdoses, suicides, etc.; Christians who die at young ages die from cancer, but most of us die at upper ages), and everything to accomplish his goal: Trapping everybody he can to go to Hell, where there is eternal suffering, you will be burning forever, and there is no way out once you have been "turned over to a reprobate mind" as the Bible says. Jesus died on the cross to cleans us of our sins, and we are to accept Him as our Personal Savior in our hearts. Rejection of Him will result in going to Hell. I have heard one person say "I don't believe in Hell, so I'm not going," but that is simply not true. It doesn't matter what you believe, only one thing can be true, and it is what true Christianity teaches. Not that Anglican stuff, Protestantism is the better way to go. We do NOT worship Him through Mary!
