      Yes, it really happened. The Soviets developed a system called SOKS (System Obnarujenia Kilvaternovo Sleda or "wake object detection system") This system included gamma ray spectrometers that could detect these tiny traces of radiation left in the submarine's wake.

      @@Irobert1115HD BS. Soviet submarine tracked that CSG for days and ASW section of that CSG were aware that in area is Soviet submarine, but was unable to locate it.
      Because this was Victor I class, it did not have towed sonar and was practically deaf in its posterior hemisphere. 21.3.1984 at night was very bad weather, which caused two things - sea was noisy and was poor visibility. Because of this, Soviet skipper lost contact with Kitty Hawk and K-314 outruned Kitty and was unable to regain contact, soviet captain ordered periscope depth to find carrier optically, but because CSG were undergoing military provocation in Soviet backyard, she was not using her signal lights and due poor visibility soviet captain did see shit. This is why they get hit by Kitty. Ov course result was what would anyone expect when 80000 ton carrier smash 5000 ton submarine. Kitty has some minor damage in hull and K-314 lost its rudder and several screw blades.

Third is circulating water .. this third loop is the only one that has water drawn from the sea, desalinated & purified, and returned. This circulation loop is so far from the reactor that it has zero radiation contamination. ..and they're closed barriers. There's zero direct interaction between the loops.
    As for the other detectors .. theoretically possible, but we're talking about such small amounts that you'd need to literally have the nose of your sub hanging a few meters behind the screw of the lead sub to detect such trace amounts.

    I do believe the United States has fallen behind in the defense industry mainly because in the United States especially in the defense industry prices of defense technology are so inflated due to the profit-driven economy and the fact that these companies are only trying to please their shareholders by maximising profits not through cutting cost by inflating cost in getting the American people to pay for it while our politicians benefit monetarily for approving these contracts and these budget line items we in the United States simply cannot match the production probably of even Iran or North Korea let alone Russia and China yes their defense budgets are way smaller than ours but they don't need to be as big as our budget in the United States because most of their manufacturers are government-controlled so they are only paying workers and material cost there is no need for huge profits because they don't have shareholders I think the United States might be in trouble and we no longer lead the world in technology we have lost the edge because of corporate greed and political greed

    • @ericrand6276
      @ericrand6276 2 дні тому

      @@divebombexpert2619 I know how water turns to steam. You do not run seawater through the reactor to make steam.
      Pure water runs through the reactor removing the heat. This water then runs in its loop through the steam generators to boil the water in the secondary loop to make steam. This steam in the secondary loop is used to turn the propulsion turbines and turbine generators to make electricity. This steam is then condensed and sent back to the steam generators.
      Seawater is used to cool the steam back to water in the condensers.
      Seawater does not touch the reactor.

    The USA and UK have always thought they had better technology but we are learning g more and more it’s not all the propaganda build up and news reports make it out to be.
    Russia and China are both very capable countries in developing counter measures which we are seeing in Ukraine where new western equipment has the upper hand for only about 3 months.

    I knao that propaganda and movies create stereotypical picture of Russia army, but in reality they are on the same level or even more advanced. When usa abndond agreements agaist development od interceptors of ballistic mislles, the Rusian develooed then hypersonic mislles that outperform anything west has at the moment. Look what happens to the best aa systems like patriot or iris t in Ukraine, when detected they are one shot by kiznal or anything else
