I was the lead singer in a great band 1965 and 1966. We were on TV every Saturday. Everyone said i sounded like Johnny Rivers. He was one of my favorite singers. The Vietnam War put an end to our band. Myself and tge rythem guitar player joined the Marines.
Linda, maravilhosa! ❤❤❤ Música q embalava os bailinhos pró-formatura, eu adolescente... Agora, 73 anos, nunca esquecerei, golden days... Ouvindo em 21/11/24... ❤❤❤
I HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE & I AM A RIVERS ADDICT🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼.HAVE BEEN SINCE I FIRST HEARD HIM SING.MY GOODNESS WHEN I FOUND A POST FROM UNCLOUDY DAY- MICHAEL MYERS💜💜💜💜 VERSION.NO.LONGER AVAILABLE.😥😥😥BUT I FOUND IT ON ANOTHER POST.THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL.JUST BEAUTIFUL.SO SOFTLY I WILL SAY SIGNING OUT.GOD BLESS AMERICA & THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHO HELP.EACH OTHER.🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸👼🇺🇸😍🥰❤❤❤❤
Why can't there be music like this today? I think this was his best album. Never get tired of listening to it. "For my heart would break if you should wake and see me go." WOW.
this was my favorite album of my high school years and i have finally got a new copy of the cd from cd universe after looking for it for nearly twenty years. each song is wonderful. Johnny has never gotten the crdit he deserves for the wonderfull work he has done over the years
I will also add that I think Johnny Rivers was one of the most underrated musician/singer/songwriter of the '60s. I loved his music--still do! My fav--"Poor Side of Town". :)
My. Wife and I have a Tribute artist show. I Am a Elvis Tribute artist. The I perform Johnny Rivers Poor. Side. Of. Town really is my favorite And also Ricky Nelson my wife performed tribute to Patsy Cline. And Brenda Lee Tanmy Wynette..🌹🎸🇺🇸🎶🥀🎸💞👍🏻🥀🎸😀
I wonder if he knows that he has such a devoted following still. I loved his music when I was in my teens, life happened. Now, I have natural gray highlights and still love him and his music.
It's so nice to finally hear my favorite version of such a beautiful ballad on this site. Johnny is a very versatile performer able to adapt seemlessly from one genre to another. The production values on his music are incredible. I saw him earlier this year and what a great show. I met up with him after the show and he was totally amused by a t-shirt with a picture of him and I together 20 years ago which was the last time he performed here.
I have been a fan of Johnny's for a long time and have most of his albums but have never gotten to see him live. Long live his music. A wonderful sound for sure.
Happen to catch him in concert in Vegas some 10 years ago. What a talent....had not lost a step at that point in time. He held that audience. Great post.
True story, this old song is about a man on his death bed, his wife sat with him 3 days and night, He wrote these words down as she slept and he passed away! Very sad! I do this song on my music Gigs, very heart felt!
SOFTLY, AS I LEAVE YOU--beautiful song! Many people sang (recorded) this song including.Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Elvis & The Lettermen. This is first time I've heard Johhny Rivers version. It is different, but doesn't make it any better or any worse than the others.
Pena que Elvis Presley(de quem Johnny foi grande amigo)nos seus shows apenas declamava a letra, utilizando Sherry Nilsen para cantar, daria uma excelente interpretação1

he's wonderful, isn't he!
It seems like with guys like him that all their great songs are the ones that were never played on the radio.
Of course he had great ones on the radio, but I mean the ones that didn't make it.
So do I
ANOTHER MESSAGE.I AM 82 & HAVE LOVED HIM SINCE AMERICAN BAND STAND.FOREVER HE IS THE BEST.🥰😍❤😍❤🥰❤😍🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

I would have loved to see Johnny in concert but never have. He is truly an Icon of our times. I have his albums and listen to them often.

Essa música me faz voltar ao ano de 1969, com todo o romantismo da época. Muita saudade. O tempo passou e as lembranças ficaram.

sorry for the bad news- Elvis cut him off after he felt JR ripped a song off.

Perry Como has the best version of this but I am so glad Johnny Rivers did it as well
I wish someone would post it -- as of today (7-1-16) it is not on YT.
