Manaro Voui Volcano, Ambae Island - An Apocalyptic Wasteland

This is Manaro Voui Volcano, Ambae Island (Vanuatu). During our first visit, the volcano's caldera was covered in lush jungle and was teeming with life. Today, that scene has been replaced by a stark, apocalyptic wasteland, where only the charred skeletons of trees remain. Manaro Voui is in a state of major unrest, with recent fire fountaining and lava flows (which you see in this video).
A period of intense volcanic activity transpired between 2017 and 2018, characterised by pyroclastic flows, lateral blasts, and lahars.
