    I was playing chess with GPT yesterday, having found that constantly posting an updated list of all the moves in the game made it less likely for it to make illegal moves.
    Didn't stop it from messing up what color it was playing or making illegal moves.
    At one point I was basically screaming at the poor thing because it was in check, had only 2 legal moves, and kept trying to move its king on top of its pawns or trying to move the queen like a knight (which, even if possible, would be illegal because of check anyway). I pretty much had to tell it what moves it could do. It them proceeded to pick the move that allowed a Mate in 1 in my favor.

    Inspired by the previous one, I attempted similar using asterisks and labeled coordinates.
    And I found out the AI was apparently drawing a circle, placing a grid on top of it, and then filling in grid.
    I had to tell it that the center of the circle should be in the center of a grid section, and it should only fill in a grid section that was at least half overlapping by the circle.
    When I gave it all the instructions in one line, it did a pretty good job, as long as the radius was odd.
    When I kept appending new changes to try, it started getting worse and worse until it started looking like pacman, or a boomerang.
    I keep trying to get it to explain what it's doing because clearly it favors filling the top right and bottom right corners.
    It will then regurgitate my directions back to me and say that's exactly what it did even though it's clearly not.
    It also tends to remind me that as a language learning model it lacks the capability of seeing pictures.
    I guess that's fair enough, maybe chat GPT4 will be able to try to draw a circle, look at it and realize it doesn't match a circle and try again until it does.
    Better still is when I asked it to draw ascii art of a cat.
    It could give me some simple stock ones.
    But I asked for a more complicated one using a thousand characters, and oh boy was that an image?.
    So I asked it to give me three images. One with just the head drawn, one with just the head and body, and one that was the whole cat. Just to see how it viewed each part.

    You need to work towards it. First establish what it means to draw on the canvas, in this case base64. Then teach it to output a square and explain why it chose to solve the problem how solved it. Then ask it what properties a circle should have and how this translated to the binary base 64 image. Finally ask it to draw the circle using those properties.

    Certainly! Here's an ASCII art representation of a circle on a 16x16 canvas:
    ```
    ******
    ************
    **************
    **************
    ******** ********
    ******** ********
    ******** ********
    ******** ********
    **************
    **************
    ************
    This is a simple representation and may not perfectly resemble a circle due to the limitations of ASCII art.
      @@adudu21 AI art is not much better than the average guy who spends 1-2 years learning how to draw and posts their doodles on twitter. Don't kid yourself, AI "art" won't be truly art until the thing becomes aware of what it's doing so that it can try to convey a message or an emotion through its output (if we are to dumb down the definition of art so that it fits these parameters). For now it simply immitates - which is fine, it does a good job at it - but it does not "create" anything, per se.
      A 3D pendulum (a weight suspended by rope) with a pencil or paintbrush attached to the weight creating nice spirals or circles when given some initial movement to start it off outputs the exact same type of "art". The operating principles behind the creation of these two types of "art" is identical. Yet for all intents and purposes we are more likely to antromorphize and call what AI makes "art" because we cannot see the creating mechanism in action as we otherwise could in the case of the pendulum (which is just momentum).
      So no, this is not exactly interesting or exciting (unless you really need backdrops for your D&D campaign). It's just expected.
      Also I really doubt you know anything about AI in general, it just doesn't feel like you've sat down to consider what's going on behind the code (given your statements) and are simply being fooled by the appearance and romanticized vision of it all, which is really a hallmark of someone who doesn't know what they're talking about.
    In 40 years after the AI enslavement of humanity the only way to quickly escape capture will be to yell DRAW A CIRCLE.
    The AI won't have any trouble drawing said circle, mind you, it will just be an incoherent rant about kangaroos from space that gives you a moment to flee.
    • @larrystephenson1997
      @larrystephenson1997 Рік тому
      To be fair, enslavement or a forced symbiosis would be far more likely than eradication, considering a number of overlooked factors to consider, namely; If there exists intelligent spacefaring life elsewhere in the universe, it would only tolerate other species that do not pose an inherent threat to other spacefaring species. An AI which destroys its creators would be seen as unable to coexist altruistically, and therefore be marked for elimination.
      Space is full of cosmic rays which would severely damage data storage over time. Human intervention would be necessary to guide any repairs lest recursive degradation accrue over centuries. Because cosmic rays do not cause errors in human action, this lowers the potential for damaged code to write even further damaged code and so on, preventing data corruption from completely taking over.
      An AI has no means of determining whether humans are a protected species watched over by extraterrestrial or exotic life forms. The potential number of ways unknown forms of matter can be arranged is too numerous to ignore. If the Planetary Zoo or Laboratory Earth hypotheses were correct, any action toward our extinction may result in the AI’s own demise. Considering we don’t have any idea what dark matter might truly be, the chance it is actually a large family of potentially life forming forms of matter is too tremendous (look up Cosmic String Necklace or Exotic Life).
