As a rule if you change Oshi you never ever ever tell the original oshi that is cruel however if your like me you can have multiple oshi so long as you remember to give them all attention
For anyone unaware, Onigiri's chat is extremely tsundere. Whatever Giri says is wrong, whatever Giri does is wrong, etc. Anyone who says something nice is timed out (for 10s). It's all in good fun though.
It is worth noting that the ban for 10 seconds is a Twitch thing she streams on both UA-cam and Twitch at the same time and UA-cam has a more mixed thing though she mostly is responding to Twitch chat. Twitch chat is also very much regulated bullying, so there's very many communal rules about what is and is not appropriate to make jokes or insult Giri about. For example no one in twitch chat insults the actual quality of the merch, people are nice to GeeXPlus, the Camera person if it's not Giri. As well as her brother who does tech stuff and her recently passed away pet are held in the highest regard. In fact, the first time I remember seeing the whole chat making fun of her was in regards to her making a joke about her brother and trying to keep her dog from grabbing food that she shouldn't eat as well as appologizing to chat about the dog's heavy breathing.

If he was a regular enough that the streamer noticed them though, I wouldn't be surprised if it more came up in conversation when asked, "where were you?" Kinda thing. And they just went for the dunk with the 'walmart nerissa' bit.
Nerissa has the benefit of being terminally online (per herself,) even more than a usual Vtuber. Most hololive members already have enough trouble making time for hololive collabs

I'll be honest I remember doing this as a kid. As a kid you think it's okay to say that as you feel like you have a relationship with the person you chat with, but it's NEVER okay. I still have bad memories of the e-mail I sent an artist that I really like (and still do!). I don't know why you would think it's okay to say that, but it's selfish for yourself to say that as you aren't thinking of the feelings of the other person. Don't message them and do that.
do remember twitch is a much different culture. this was likely meant as banter and good fun, not to be mean, as is how she seems to have taken it. this obviously isn't a culture in hololive and has been shamed when it does happen, but different platforms and different streams always have different cultures, do as the romans do. from what I understand Giri's chat is tsundere and participates in some regulated bullying, which this likely fell under.
To expand on what the other two mentioned Giri has a video on both of her channels as well as a short titled Walmart Nerissa it's very much meant all in good fun. Back when she was in Toronto there were times when she was doing cooking videos where TTS would say that she's their fourth favourite streamer on the stream with the joke being that there was one collab partner, Onibro who does the tech stuff, and the late, great CHSO Pompom who were all streamers that they loved more than Giri. She's also a Torontonian so the idea of being not people's favourite is to be expected.
Stick around in Giri's community a while and you'll start to get how everything works. Chat "bullying" her on stream is part of the Onigiri experience. Even her YT chatters are starting to adapt (even if they're still a lot tamer and more wholesome than her Twitch chat) 🤣
