The longest running song of 2001. It was the biggest song of 2001. At the time she broke radio records having this song being added TO EVERY SINGLE RADIO FORMAT ON EARTH😂😂
Janet is known for having sensual emotional and sexual lyrics but this is an ERA lol and this was the video era where choreography, visuals and set design were just as important as the song. Visual boards were some, concepts designed, all of it
"All For You" was the first single released for Janet's All For You Album in 2001. Other singles from the album that have music videos are "Son Of A Gun" (ft. Missy Elliott") and "Someone To Call My Lover". "Doesn't Really Matter" was included on the album as well even though it was originally recorded for The Nutty Professor II soundtrack (2000). "Would You Mind" which you reacted to was on the All For You album. Janet music has been critically acclaimed because the topics she sings about and because of the genres she experiments with. Some genres Janet has experimented with include New Jack Swing, R&B/Soul, Pop, Hip-Hop, House, Funk, Rock, and more. Her music has often been described as "sonically innovative, socially conscious, and sexually provocative".
One of work friends came to one night and said... My friend has and extra ticket for a concert tonight. .. would you like to buy it and come with us?? I was like well who IS IT? IT WAS THE JANET JACKSON ALL FOR YOU TOUR. WOW so glad I went...LIVE SHE IS REALY GOOD and .. the ABS the ABS.. JUST WOW
I love this song! It sampled from Luther Vandross’ Glow of Love. (Rip Luther) He & Janet also did a new jack swing duet called The Best Things In Life Are Free.
The song was a sample from the group Change featuring the Legendary Luther Van Dross. The title to the song that was sampled is “The Glow Of Love.” Change had some great songs from back in the day before Luther went solo. Check them out as well as Luther’s songs too!
Janet's 10th and final #1 hit. Her longest reigning since '93's That's The Way Love Goes 0:23 Madonna sitting over here like, boy if you only knew what I've done... 5:01 They're from the same album. "Doesn't Really Matter" was the lead single and her 9th (and penultimate #1 hit). Wikipedia is your friend.
You are killing it, Jack!!! I can hardly watch - listening to the music and dancing!!!! It's been a minute since I heard it!!! Janet can dance her ass off!!! The music is great!!! Good reaction!!
I'm so glad you reacted to this one! This is from the All For You album, which includes your reaction of Doesn't Really Matter and Would You Mind. As always, written and produced by Janet, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis. Did you notice the breakdown music? It's her own samples! "Pleasure Principle" and "Go Deep." The song itself is a sample from "The Glow of Love" by Change. Next up, "All Night (Don't Stop)." You'll be feeling some type of way again and it's an upbeat dance track! Also, "Make Me," which was written after her brother passed away. Its fire!
Yeah but he should react to the album version tho because it's more musically vibrant & there's more showcasing of her vocals & more fitting of the mood of the song!
I'm surprised radio stations played that line about "the package" lol. Great song and it samples another great song called "The Glow of Love" by the group Change with lead vocals by the great Luther Vandross.
Jack, I like that you let artist simply "be", with no judgment. And there are sooooo many charged pieces from Janet. Its juuuuust the beginning muh man.😄
Great observation on the different eras of Janet's career. This was her early 2000s era and was more pop influenced. She went through her new Jack swing era in the late 80s, then the smooth r&b era in the 90's, then this. She adapted well with the times.
Funny thing is: this is Janet video and the Icon performance of this song made me want to become a dancer. I remember destroying the videotape rewinding it back teaching myself the choreo. 😂
Tina Landon was Janet Jackson’s choreographer for decades.. She’s responsible for so much of Janet’s dance work. And both she and Janet (plus Paula Abdul of course) were the reasons I started dancing as a little kid, making it my craft later. Tina Landon also choreographed for Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera. Look her up! 🙏❤️
mannnnn flashback to summer '01 - 14 years old sat on my front porch blaring this song so loud (along with aaliyah) - sun was shining, not a care in the world, my whole street was vibing. NOSTALGIC! this video is one of my all time favourites also and it made me visualise what NYC was like in the summer...which is why i went on my own 3 years later and got the travel bug but thats a whole other story! its crazy how impactful music truly can be
Janet was gorgeous here. I mean, this video has gotten me into trouble with my girl before. Damn Janet was FINE here. Them damn jeans, the cut off shirt, them damn hips rocking back and forth. Lawd have mercy.
I love that Janet's you're favorite artist to react to! She's definitely a legend and innovator but I also think she's somewhat underrated as well. It makes me happy to see you getting into her.
Jack, you’re right, with Janet, you’re getting hip hop, dance , rock, pop, disco, house, jazz, neo soul, R&B.You can’t put her in a box. Another reason why I love her so much. She’s totally different from most artist
@1:50 Like with "You Want This", the choreographer is Tina Landon and she's in the 2nd row on our left (Janet's right). @4:02 - The song heavily samples Change's "Glow of Love" (1980), which is why you are hearing the disco vibe. Luther Vandross sang the lead for that group. Excellent song! This was probably Janet's way of paying tribute to Luther...who she did a hit duet with on the Mo' Money soundtrack, "The Best Things In Life Are Free." It's amazing that their voices go together so well. Check out her performance as a teen on "Young Love" (American Bandstand). You can see how she dances with no official choreography (before Paula Abdul and Tina Landon's influence).
There's actually a sample buried in this track, that you start to here as it's vampin out in the end, which is the piano part from 'In The Glow Of Love', by the '80's group, Change, who Luther Vandross was a lead singer for back then.
I love this song. It's just makes you smile and be happy when you see it. I love it. It reminds me of Britney's song anticipating. Britney loves Janet. She's a big Inspiration to her along Michael Jackson.
I can’t believe this song and era is almost 20 years old. Janet “The Icon” Jackson!!! This was one of her best eras in her career. It was perfectly promoted. She kicked it off with the MTV Icon special, where she was celebrated and premiered this song. Then she released the album which debuted at #1. Shortly after she announced her “All For You World Tour.” It did suffer a set back after 9/11, which saw her European leg cancelled due to fear of being a target for an attack by Al Queda (which all artists back then felt). Which sucked because the European dates were going to have P!nk as an opening act and Aaliyah as an opening act/Co headliner. So the tour only visited the states, and Japan. She closed out the era with a sold out show in Hawaii at Aloha Stadium. The concert was filmed as her 2nd HBO special. “All For You” era also marks a change in her life. Right before the album was released she announced her divorce to Renee Elizondo Jr. Whom she had secretly married eight years prior. So this album sees Janet embracing her new found freedom as a single woman. And the happiness she found inside herself and the fun she was having because of it. The album totally reflects that, it’s upbeat, it’s fun, it’s highly sexually driven, because when you’re young and newly single.... you date, and have fun. Yes there are serious moments on the album but just a couple. I hope this gives u some insight into this era of Janet’s career. Sorry it’s so long.
2001 Michael came out with his invincible album and then she came out with all for you album and tour. It was the year of the Jacksons. I was lucky to go to her concert and go to the 30 anniversary for Michael in new York with my family
I love that you appreciate her music! I've been waiting for a reactor to do this. Janet is not just Michael Jacksons sister. She's an artist on her own. Its crazy how I hear people say they dont like her music P.S you should react to her live version of that's the way love goes
Janet Jackson - Someone To Call My Lover is a great one with synthesis throughout the song, much like some of her other uptempos. I guess you can say that's her signature style in correlation to uptempos. But the one I've mentioned is definitely a fun vibe, therefore I'm sure you'll love it as well. Check it out 👌🏾👌🏾 ..
So here’s some trivia; the song is sampling a hit disco funk track by Change “Glow of Love” and the break part is sampling her track Pleasure Principle and “Let The Music Play” by Shannon.
Janet always writes from her life experience. This song was coming off a divorce where she was married for about 10years secretly. She was free and ready to mingle..hence the lyrics. Next up you gotta react to another live performance. Either Rhythm nation from Velvet rope tour (one word - nunchucks), Again - (Velvet rope tour), What about VH1 fashion awards or that's way love goes/if MTV awards...
The same choreographers did Doesnt Really Matter as well thats why its reminiscent. Listen to a group called Change "Glow Of Love". this song samples that song.
This song is ebullient. One of her best feel good songs. SOMEONE TO CALL MY LOVER is another song from the same album which is sweeter and more adorable but still in that effervescent vein.
This takes me back to sophomore year of college this was huge back in 2001 . Song samples old school disco song from. McFadden and whitehead ain’t no stopping us now. Jimmy jam and terry lees us produced this .
You should really check out "Feedback" from 2008 by Janet. It was an awesome song and Janet looked incredible in the video. Totally different sound from her
check out janet's video Damn Baby! she was pregnant when she did that video and she killed it! if u get to see her live do it! one of the best concerts i ever went too! and the Janet jackson icon awards of her live performance doing this song! all the female dancers are dressed like her from some of the videos she did!
This was a bop @ 1st I didn't realize it was her when I 1st heard the song b4 seeing the video..U should react to Come On Get Up from the all for you tour & Again "live velvet rope tour" & You from that tour also...once u start getting more into her live performances & the What'll I Do- video..u'll appreciate her versatility & visual & voice even more...I honestly think ppl overlook her voice cus of everything else going on in her videos but she makes it look effortless & is 1 of the few artist that sounds jus like her albums when singing live.
YES my girl! Glad you got to this one, I see you did Missy Today, I think you should do "Son Of A Gun (LIVE IN HAWAII)" the video is good too but the live performance is better, Janet & Missy have 3 released songs together. Son Of A Gun was the 1st where Missy was the feature. But yea Doesn't Really Matter is from the All For You Era. Both songs produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Shawnette Heard did choreography for both songs.
I was 12 when this song came out. That's when I discovered Janet. I never stopped listening to this song ever since, especially when she released 'Someone to call my lover'. I listen to those 2 songs everyday.....and I'm 30. Janet looked flawless, her beauty is breath-taking in this video. In 2001, she was on top of the world. This song was a huge success, it defined the year 2001. Love this song until the day I die.
I'VE SAID IT BEFORE AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN...I'm telling you, you need to watch Janet Jackson's performance of "Rope Burn" on her Velvet Rope tour...it's another sassy/sexy performance with a fan on stage...TRUST ME, YOU'LL LOVE IT
One of my favorite creative video of all time. The scenery is so beautiful and vibrant. I like how she starts off with meeting a guy on the train and she gets off her stop with a few of her girls and start dancing. It's so creative and entertaining to watch especially the choreography.😍☺👌✨
Jack, Tina Landon was Janet's longtime choreographer. She is also in the video:) She was with her all the time in videos and on stage:) She's the one in the dance break with the green, pants and black top and black hair (they show her a couple of times).
The longest running song of 2001. It was the biggest song of 2001. At the time she broke radio records having this song being added TO EVERY SINGLE RADIO FORMAT ON EARTH😂😂
3rd biggest song of 2001. Alicia Keys' Fallin was 2nd and some band was 1st.
I can't believe its been almost 20yrs. She always goes away and then comes back with a whole new sound and look.
@21stcenturyenigma This song came out 6 months before 9/11...
Let that sink in...
😕
@21stcenturyenigma Yes, just wanted to point it out.

Janet is known for having sensual emotional and sexual lyrics but this is an ERA lol and this was the video era where choreography, visuals and set design were just as important as the song. Visual boards were some, concepts designed, all of it
“I really like her outfits!” yeah Jack! Lol!
One of my favorite Janet bops! 🔥🔥 I would love a reaction to Nasty from her Control album.
He has a big crush on her look at his smile when he review her
I love this song! It sampled from Luther Vandross’ Glow of Love. (Rip Luther) He & Janet also did a new jack swing duet called The Best Things In Life Are Free.
Love that song, The Best Things in Life are Free. Great workout music.
Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis produced both songs they make only hits
Janet is so amazing. The total package. Let’s give our legends their roses while they’re still here 🌹 🌹 🌹 ❤️
You should react to Janet performing Doesn’t Really Matter at the 2000 VMA’s.
No one can do it like Janet!
The song was a sample from the group Change featuring the Legendary Luther Van Dross. The title to the song that was sampled is “The Glow Of Love.” Change had some great songs from back in the day before Luther went solo. Check them out as well as Luther’s songs too!
Janet🤗, Yes Jack you are the greatest ♥️. She has the best smile and so do you. Reaction on point 👊

Great reaction as usual. I love how you make me notice things I never noticed about the songs and videos 😍.
I love your Janet reactions so much.
Finally !!!!! I’ve been requesting for so long, glad u did it dude !!!!! Next BLACK or WHITE by MJ 🙏🏽💫

Janet's "You Want This" video is fun.

Doesn't Really Matter, All For You and Would You Mind were all from the same album. You should do her video Let's Wait Awhile.
yes lets wait a while!
He already did doesn’t really matter
