Ronnie is not a normal snooker player hence why he still wins major tournaments after 30 years. He has always said John is the best player he's played against he wants to see John winning and the advice is coming from a genuine place. Nobody knows the game better than Ronnie
Ronnie always speak without thinking. Overpraising John when you are doing even better may come across as hypocrisy. Fair to say John & Ronnie had same ability but as u ageing above 45, its really harder to focus over long period of time. Its therefore important to keep yourself mental being well like Ronnie to achieve what he's doing now.
For sure Ronnie has respect for John and I agree with what he is saying, being more aggressive will for surely help John win frames that he normally would not win - but it also means to concentrate even more on that pink and push on when you got the opportunity. John seems to relax a little too much when he's ahead and that gives the opponent chances to come back into the match and those moments hurt him even more. Also his form dropped a little as he's not hitting the middle of the pockets all the time and missing too easy shots now and then. I think John was also not really happy with his form as he showed some frustrations during the tournament. I hope he can take Ronnie's advice and build his form towards April-May next year 🙂
It’ll be interesting to see how John plays this week at the Masters and see if he does adopt some of that assertiveness and aggression in his style of play as it’s the first match following Ronnie’s comments…who know the class of 92 duo might just meet at the Masters and ironically John asserts that aggression on Ronnie and dumps him out after all that 🤣 either way it would be a good watch at Ally pally
Ronnie wants that class of '92 to go on forever! Higgins at his best is arguably the most intimidating player of all time, maybe with Hendry (some will say Davis). However, that was in their prime, and Ronnie. is still world number 1, so he knows exactly what he is talking about - especially describing pushing the pink and black safe, it wasn't assertive enough.
I’ve always felt John Higgins is a player who has never really fulfilled his potential. That’s why I consider him a very, very good player but not one of the all time greats. The best of all time and the GOAT is unquestionably Ronnie, Hendry is a close second behind Ronnie and I put Steve Davis and Ray Reardon in the same bracket behind those 2.
Cant stand the match fixing suspended man Higgins! lucky to still be playing. he's not winning because he's old. Ronnie is exceptionally gifted so he still wins.
Ronnie is right tbh, it’s all about long potting, get in first and clearing up. Ronnie learned safety from the master Ray Reardon. You have to be able to win in one visit frame after frame, that’s the standard now.
I don’t think Higgins needs to more aggressive he’s getting plenty of chances he just keeps having a lapse in concentration which leads to an unexpected miss or a poor positional shot. He can’t seem to get over the winning anymore I think it is a physiological thing with Higgins. How do you lose 3 world finals in a row that shouldn’t be happening to a player of Higgins quality.
Yeah he wears himself down because of his style of play, he really struggles in the long formats as a result - by the time he got to those recent world finals he was burnt out. Eyes bloodshot etc.
There was a few years that it looked like Higgins was going to take to Hendry mantel. His break building was so strong. Even if he was on the baulk cushion he would get a long red and many times after that it was a total clearance.
John seems to be in the same boat as neil nowadays , thinking too much not agressive enough , in these best of 7.9.11 against lower ranked players u gotta apply the pressure and intimidate ur opponents
On the other hand.. cheater John 'buy a nice villa with the money from rigging a match' Higgins is 48 and still gets to semi finals so that's an achievement.
he's explaining what you have to do to beat players who are as good as Noppon... that Higgins strategy wasn't good enough for a quality player, even if he's inarguably better of the two. only disgrace is in you.
@@itnaklipse1669 I just thought it was a bit inconsiderate to speak only of the competitor who lost and not even briefly about the competitor who won. In listening to the "Rocket" reminds me of a very applicable statement, "Sometimes one's offence is one's best defence!"👍
Higgins only cares about match fixing
Yeah, i kinda agree. John seems to lack a little confidence in his game, as of late. Why?. He's a world class player, and can match it with anyone.
John sets very high standards of himself. Always has.
John Higgins has always been too defensive, which is surprising really when you consider how great a break builder he is.
That's superb analysis from Ronnie
