Are u on Facebook/Instasgram? I am married to a trucker but we are british. Interesting to see how the australians do their trucking compared to the brits
Don't worry about the videos seeming boring or repetitive, even if its the same run each week, still film where ya can, we love it either way. Only thing I can ask for is more POV, loved the POV shots from vlog 5. But other than that, the vids are mint, keep it up!
Hey you can take your own broom handle size windscreen washer to save climbing up. Safer when yer out of yer tree and youll do it more often when its less effort.
Great work , I can remember Tarcutta during the late 70's and 80's it was like a 24hour market in Bangkok , truck wash that never stopped , and perfect tarpping and Truckie hitches for as far as the eye could see. Keep up the good work bro

Thank you for sharing your trucking life I've always wondered what it would be like and always had respect for what you guys do. Watching and how you explain what you do answers what I've always wondered. Thank you Brother be safe drive safe 💯
Love the videos mate, can’t say for the next one! Bit of feedback love the headcam action, seeing what our drivers are seeing out there is pretty dam cool love you’re work matey
Tarcutta mate that is crazy busy aye they must make a shit load of coin at that truck stop mate looking forward to ya next vlog even got the missus watching now cause I gotta watch her channels so she’s gotta watch mine 😂😂but she actually liked it 👍👍
Well done buddy don’t change your videos to much personally I think you have got them pretty much on point. Good information good variety of footage. Personally I like how you put the camera on the mirror when you’re backing. Don’t worry about being the same trips and repetitive footage as different days equals a different view like coming across that accident in Coffs or the other day having to do a detour around that fatality. So keep up the good work there’s only you and the homeless trucky showing what it is really like out on the Aussie roads.
Thanks mate I will always try to improve just to keep giving something back to our supporters 👍 yup his vids are really good I’m always watching him haha
Hey buddy came across your channel by accident. You’re very interactive which is great! Hubby drives for Linfox here in Perth, previously a driver/trainer in Pennsylvania USA (yep I’m Aussie and lived over there for 5 years before we moved back late 2017). He’s an MC driver, home every night and generally runs south with mining (and sometimes ugly freight) to minesites. Stay safe out there!
Another great video, as always many thanks for sharing!! In regards to when you upload, you upload when you can fit it in with your schedule. It's easy for us we are just sitting here enjoying the content, and I'd much rather share the road with a well rested truckie than one that's half asleep cos he just finished editing a video for You Tube until all hours of the night!!!
Good morning bud. From the UK 🇬🇧. You are doing a great job be safe out there. I am retired now I drove for 44 years H.G.V all over the country and Europe I love every minute of it.
Thanks for the video mate. On the last video when you had to take the detour south of Sydney because of a tragic accident. A mother and two young kids. I think one was same age as your little fella so that would have stirred up your emotions. Hope your little fella is on the mend
Cheers John yeah it always hits close to home when things like that happen especially cos it was a truck accident as well he’s doing well now mate back to tearing the whole house apart 👍
I am not a truckie, but am enjoying your entry into the world of youtube. This video could be improved if you had explained at the beginning, that as Tarcutta is exactly halfway between Melbourne and Sydney, what many line-haul companies do is have the drivers go to the changeover pad, drop their trailers and swap with the driver from the opposite direction. This means that the drivers can easily do a round trip from their home city (Syd or Melb) and sleep at home instead of a truck-stop. One Friday night my wife and I were staying at the Motel, and I had my usual evening walk and ended up at the changeover pad for about two hours. About 90% of the trailers were B-doubles. As I love big things (trucks, cranes, locomotives) I was in heaven! Keep up the good work.
Wow I’ve been past Tarcutta many times but never seen that truck yard, like you said it’s like truck city. Nice episode. Ime more than happy to just see the country side going by, you don’t have to be actually doing something the entire time , it’s a way to see parts of our country we don’t all see. I do appreciate a clean windscreen tho 😁
i know what you mean about Tarcutta!!! Was driving melb - Syd- Brisbane (car) for 15 years and some nights like you said at the right time you could barely get through as there were trucks everywhere and so much movement and other times you could go through and hear a pin drop. love the Vlogs and as the other guys said it’s never boring as every trip is a new one!
Glad I’m not the only one that thinks Tarcutta is crazy in the fact that it’s busier in the middle of the night compared to the middle of the day lol thanks mate 👍
Hahaha my mate is a line haul driver and does change overs weekly there He said to me they called it the pin smashing arena at night hahaha 🤣 Hopefully early next year I’ll know all about it haha Since I only do local hr work lol
Awesome drive heading up the coast with all the by-pass roads. Only at Coffs Harbour everything slows down. Are they going to bypass CH at any time???? Keep up the good Vlogs bro. chur.
Yeah pretty sure they’ve already started the by pass brother and then they’re gonna bypass Heatherbrae and Beresfeild as well which is gonna be crazy no stopping from Brisbane all the way to Sydney
Mate orsome job drive safe miss that job being on the road spent many years doing what you do had to hand my truck license in after a heart attack keep up the good work and keep those clips coming it's a bloody good job more people need to give your job a go
New subscriber, nice content so far and look forward to more. Content idea, do hyperlapse videos between the sites your driving to instead of the video going from Brisbane and then the next clip is Sydney, and atleast the hyperlapse is just set and record. Looking forward to more vlogs!
Interesting vid mate, your vlog appeared in my recommended feed, the truckers life is one of the most underrated professions, as they says without trucks, Australia stops.
Mate, you reverse like a Boss!! What I'd love to know is what reference point you use to work out how close that last trailer is to the dock when you really can't see it all that well. Awesome stuff to watch!
The only real way to tell how close you are is when the lights of your trailer get close enough and you can see them flashing up against the dock 👍 sometimes I misjudge it and hit the dock a bit hard but mostly don’t
I've watched all your Vlog's - enjoyed every one. You are definitely improving with each one! Nice view of Tarcutta - gives everyone a bit of a perspective of how many truckies it takes to allow us to live the way we do in Australia. The little things like the V hot sleep in Sydney in the yard with a/c - most of us don't know about this! Coff's Harbour must be a real pain with a B double - every time you get to the speed limit there is another set of lights (bad enough iin a car). Keep doing what you are doing and stay safe out there!
That’s why I wanted to show everyone Tarcutta mate there’s so much action going on there that people generally don’t know about 👍 thanks for watching mate
I'm the same. On the last run. Crnt wait to get home. Then once I had the weekend off. Look forward to getting back into work. Lol. Must be mad. Can you show us an Australian service centre or road house as you call them.
Love your channel! Content is interesting and relevant. So is your commentary, you're a natural lol. I know your roads well and all those roadhouses lol. I love the Cutta, it'd have to be one of the busiest places in Australia at midnight. Theres apparently 5000 truck movements on the Hume every week night and Tarcutta is right in the epicentre, kind of a big deal. Kiwi here too, been trucking all over since 2001. SA based now. I look forward to your uploads. Tip for your windscreen: from the ground, spray it heavily with windex. Until it starts running down the windscreen. Give it 30 seconds then hit the washers hard. It'll come up schmicko. Easy as bro. Take care out there and maybe I'll see ya in the hammer lane one night 🤙
for sure that place is busier at midnight than it is at midday lol thanks for the tip brother never thought to use windex on the outside of the glass haha
Loving videos straight honest bloke Any chance you do a video how to fill in logbook I am a young fella just got my hc but I can't get my head around the bloody book hahhha
I can’t talk about the sacred book unfortunately mate don’t wanna get myself into trouble sorry mate my only advice is to get one of the apps to help you out I use the logbook checker that app helped clean my book right up 👍
@Cross Family Trucking cheers mate understand that that's one thing they don't teach you when doing licence hahah But definitely look at that app never know about that cheers mate 👍🏻
Hey mate new subscriber here. Appreciate the content you put out it’s enjoyable and tbh a lot how I would vlog myself. I’ve had me HR for 5yrs now driven in pretty much most rigid jobs out there, and FINALLY getting off my ass and booking my HC test ect.. am looking into interstate or even changeovers now I’m upgrading and my kids are older I can give a good 10yrs to it then who knows haha. But thanks for explaining the routes you take/why great advice for someone like me! Thanks mate stay safe, stay rested and all the best your family.
So I use to work linehaul like yourself only running singles though, I seen Hopper Transport (Railroad Transport, the company I worked for) as you were leaving Nambucca. They had some nice Volvos with the Australian flag on them but the Maroon and Blue trailers was a dead give away
@Cross Family Trucking I honestly thought they went bust cuz I tried to call my old boss to see if he could get a mate a job down in Vic but the phone numbers were disconnected lol
another awesome vlog mate been watching since ur first vlog really enjoy hearing what it takes to get ur licsene and getting in somewhere as my dad drives b doubles and hopefully soon i upgrade to my hc in a few weeks, keep up the good work.
Love your work sir, here's a thought. Why not film the whole trip, we can travel with you, it's never boring, Im sure I speak for others, we enjoy the content. stay safe.
I would if I could mate that would take 100s of gb and a whole week to upload and I edit and upload from my phone so I just don’t have the capability at the moment 👍
hi great footage for the week, really enjoy watching you work.are the ozzie trailers 53 feet long like american trailers or are they longer, have a great weekend at home thanks for your time and effort
Some longer and some shorter mate I know pallet spaces so A trailers range from 10 12 even 16 spaces B trailers range from 22 24 and now even 28 spaces there some 30 pallet trailers out there too 👍
Another awesome video buddy keep up the great work. Do you ever do any trips over west, it’s hard enough driving my car solo from Melbourne to Perth what would it be like in a truck?
I remember when I did some changeovers in Tarcutta near on 10 years ago there was a little cafe on the main street, just down the hill a bit from the changeover pad. Pretty sure they pretty much were only open overnight. I think they might be closed now though. I'm just a weekend warrior these days, do the occasional load from Wagga to Sydney. Good to see some Aussie Trucking vids on UA-cam. Keep it up and might see you on the road some day!
Tarcutta changeovers were ok except for winter or 2am n rainy! or when teh other bloke fell over on his way up and you end up with a Melbourne run...Tarcutta is nicer than Wetherill Park!
Just an idea: If you want to give your channel a bit more exposure have you plugged your channel over FM radio? Do some homework on a overnight station called "triple M nightshift" and have a listen, very truckie orientated. Wouldnt hurt to call up and have a chat in the middle of the night to keep you awake and push your channel over the air. Just a bit of food for thought. Keep safe bro.
Loving the honesty in the videos. Sorry if this has been asked before but what is the light bar left of the steering wheel. It seems to flash with 2 single lights. Also would love it if you get a chance to take us through how your drive the gearbox. Thanks again and stay safe Mark
That’s a guardian mate it’s just an eyesight sensor to make sure I don’t fall asleep 👍 those lights aren’t actually flashing that’s just how the camera picks up on them
It's a fatigue device that monitors his eye movement. To pick up on a microsleep. Shut your eyes or take your eyes off the road for 3 seconds and it will vibrate his seat. And I mean VIBRATE lol It feels like an electric shock through your arsehole. It wakes you up, fast. Some companies have them set up with driver facing cameras and an email system that us run through the USA. They then email your boss who is on the phone to you within a few minutes. The whole big brother thing can be a real annoying. Until that one night when it all goes off and you realise that it's just probably saved your life. They're a good thing. Especially when you're doing overnighters like our old mate here is.
Nothing gets boring or repetitive while watching trucks drive our roads, keep up the good work! P.s is Cross your last name and have you lived in Brisbane your whole life?
@@crossfamilytrucking holy crap, you look so much as a relative in our Cross family, but obviously not. Keep doing what you do, can't wait for the next Vlog mate!
Does Chris still swear more then he works :P Used to work for DW a while back only doing local HR stuff, Wasn't to long after Amanda started and Ian quit Good vids brother, would much rather do interstate then hit up larapinta ANY day lol
You spend a lot of time doing activities other than driving (refuelling, loading, changing trailers around etc) are all these hours included in your "work hours" for your log book or does your log book only start when you start the "trip"?
Question, would you drive daily linehaul so you could be home eveynight?. I advertised for a driver to do that bet couldn't get one, go figure, subbied it out to a company now. Have a good weekend.
17 minutes in, it looks like your body is turned to the left. Is it an optical illusion? Make sure you are centred at the wheel or after a while youll get back problems.
Love the vlogs mate ! Had an idea out of curiosity Pros and cons of cabovers/bonnets and different transmissions if you ever feel like sharing your opinion or anything Love the vlogs but mate
Quick question. When moving from rigid trucks to b-doubles or doubles, how long did it take you to get comfortable with reversing? For context, when I was training for my MC license I found it very hard going from a single trailer to two where you have to steer the opposite way.
When on the road what’s your source of entertainment? (Do you call your wife, listen to a podcasts,or just count how many yellow Volkswagen Beatles there are?)
Bro I’ve been in the earth works game been operating big excavators most off the time but do hold heavy combo I was told to and work for yous I am from Melbourne but a bit worried cause it’s all new to me I am just sick off what I am doing I’ve been doing operating diggers excavators for 25 years and need a change so bro just nervous as fuck because it will be new erra new venture new job that I be uncomfortable not knowing what you reckon cuz chur hemi been watching you all the time and to tell you the truth you have been giving me motivation to do it so yeh hemi
Get into it brother you’ll only be nervous until you learn the job then you’ll love it there’s no better feeling than being on the highway music up and bagging up all the Volvos lol 👍

Nah we don’t run out there mate would love to do a trip across the Nullarbor though
Glad to see the Tarcutta changeover pad still gets plenty of action even after Tarcutta was bypassed. Is the Halfway Cafe still operating?
Not sure about the cafe mate do you mean the food caravan if so she’s still there every night 👍
Yup winter is freezing there I would agree with you about it being nicer but Tarcutta doesn’t have any kebab shops lol 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking you win!
Can u pls rate crumbed saus in the croissant /10?
I would give it a solid 8 I reckon 😂
Just an idea: If you want to give your channel a bit more exposure have you plugged your channel over FM radio? Do some homework on a overnight station called "triple M nightshift" and have a listen, very truckie orientated. Wouldnt hurt to call up and have a chat in the middle of the night to keep you awake and push your channel over the air. Just a bit of food for thought. Keep safe bro.
Not a bad idea brother 👍
Ever done a load up to Cairns?
Never gone further up than Hervey Bay mate would love to one day though 👍
G'day, your right, old mate should of waited.
Wish i could hire in that beautiful countryto drive a truck like herein Europe
Do you get fined if you go over your 15min break?
has his 15mins at the bowsers
I usually don’t mate but there was nobody waiting 👍
Loving the honesty in the videos. Sorry if this has been asked before but what is the light bar left of the steering wheel. It seems to flash with 2 single lights. Also would love it if you get a chance to take us through how your drive the gearbox. Thanks again and stay safe Mark
That’s a guardian mate it’s just an eyesight sensor to make sure I don’t fall asleep 👍 those lights aren’t actually flashing that’s just how the camera picks up on them
@@crossfamilytrucking thank you
It's a fatigue device that monitors his eye movement. To pick up on a microsleep. Shut your eyes or take your eyes off the road for 3 seconds and it will vibrate his seat. And I mean VIBRATE lol
It feels like an electric shock through your arsehole.
For sure mate people complain about safety systems but I for one appreciate them 👍👍
You don't backup the double B?
What do you lot reckon to Volvo n scania they are classed as the best motors in Europe would you swap for the KW??
Kw is king in our neck of the woods mate but the euro trucks are beautiful trucks 👍
Pretty tight! Does DW give you your own truck that you pretty much use or do you just take what they allocate you?
I’m always in the same truck unless it needs work done mate then they’ll put me in another one until I get it back 👍
hey mate next vid can u tell us what gear box set up you are running is it manualised auto?
or auto?
Thanks for the videos.
Couple of questions who pays for the toll roads fees? Do you have to pay for the bunk beds at the depot?
Keep up the good work
They’re company vehicles mate so they do the bunk houses are there for us to use no fees 👍
Nothing gets boring or repetitive while watching trucks drive our roads, keep up the good work! P.s is Cross your last name and have you lived in Brisbane your whole life?
Yeah mate my last name is cross only been in Brisbane around 11 years I’m a kiwi 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking holy crap, you look so much as a relative in our Cross family, but obviously not. Keep doing what you do, can't wait for the next Vlog mate!
Great channel mate. Safe travels 👍🏼
Does Chris still swear more then he works :P
Used to work for DW a while back only doing local HR stuff, Wasn't to long after Amanda started and Ian quit
Good vids brother, would much rather do interstate then hit up larapinta ANY day lol
Nice brother 👍 sounds like we feel the same way about larapinta 😂😂
You spend a lot of time doing activities other than driving (refuelling, loading, changing trailers around etc) are all these hours included in your "work hours" for your log book or does your log book only start when you start the "trip"?
Everything you just mentioned is included in work hours in the log book mate 👍
Question, would you drive daily linehaul so you could be home eveynight?. I advertised for a driver to do that bet couldn't get one, go figure, subbied it out to a company now. Have a good weekend.
What do you mean daily linehaul mate? From Brisbane to where?
@@crossfamilytrucking No, Armidale to Scone, 7 hour round trip, paid by the hour in a new 909.
Sounds like a decent gig surprised you couldn’t find a driver for that mate 👍
17 minutes in, it looks like your body is turned to the left. Is it an optical illusion?
Make sure you are centred at the wheel or after a while youll get back problems.
Mate the Real name for Tarcutta is the King Pin Smashing Arena
Love the vlogs mate !
Had an idea out of curiosity
Pros and cons of cabovers/bonnets and different transmissions if you ever feel like sharing your opinion or anything
Love the vlogs but mate
The transmission I can comment on mate but the the bonnet cabover I can’t, never driven with a bonnet 🤷♂️
Quick question. When moving from rigid trucks to b-doubles or doubles, how long did it take you to get comfortable with reversing?
For context, when I was training for my MC license I found it very hard going from a single trailer to two where you have to steer the opposite way.
it takes a lot of practice mate it took me around 3 months to really be comfortable reversing a double just be patient with it and youll get there
Interesting, so your truck doesn't have air-conditioning while you sleep? Or is it just not good enough for 37?
The viesa doesn’t work well in high temps it just blows hot air in 👍
Sick of truck noise I can imagine.
When on the road what’s your source of entertainment?
(Do you call your wife, listen to a podcasts,or just count how many yellow Volkswagen Beatles there are?)
Comedy podcasts and a lot of Luke combs and brooks and Dunn 👍👍
