The Philippine Madrigal Singers a.k.a Madz is the GOAT in chorale singing.
I love when people are now noticing and appreciating our choirs especially the Madz. We have lot of choirs that are legendary and won different titles around the world. Also the Filipino composers and arrangers that wrote world class art.

They started out as my alma mater's choir, the U.P. Madrigal Singers (U.P. is for the University of the Philippines). The Philippines ia a powehouse in international choral competitions. Madz set the bar pretty high. This arrangement of Eres Tu by Filipino Robert Delgado (who is revered in the choral music world) is a favorite by many international choirs for competition. In fact there are plenty of choral pieces, Filipino folk songs included that are arranged by Filipinos and sung by choirs worldwide.
I am moved to tears by their voices 😢. Is this a glimpse of what heaven will be like--so overwhelmingly sublime!
The University of the Philippines' Madrigal Singers (or, simply, "Madz") have won a number of international choral awards through the decades. They're truly World Class.

Hello Ovela. The Madrigal Singers is a choir composed of students from the University of the Philippines. They mostly a capella. They have joined choir competitions in many countries and have won many awards.
I heard it is not only composed of students, but with some faculty members and invitees
From what i know madrigal singers are two groups.. UP madrigal singers and the philippine madrigal singers. Ilan sa mga myembro nila ay mga alumni at alumna ng UP. Ang up madrigal singers mga estudyante ng up riva ferrer member both two groups.. check her recital sa up with her Madrigal Brothers and Sisters.

I was so fortunate to witness them performed at Cultural Centre of the Philippines (CCP) and talked to one of their tenors. My fave choral group.😍
OMG! Finally they've been noticed! They're my all time favorite choir, with highest standard for all choirs. I really love and still listening to their Madz in Love album and still watching their videos. I have met and observed some of their Et al choir groups how they practiced and sang, they are also amazing! And watched as they joined in one of the performance of Malacañang and Napolcom Chorale in philam theater, and i am in awe!
ERES TU is one of my faves among the MADZ's chorale songs. You're right, it's angelic and therapeutic...especially when you're alone in a very quiet place.
Actually, it is also one of my faves. They have angelic voices; I think the members have Music education, some with masteral degree.
I listen to this everyday for almost a year now . One of my therapies.

I am surprised you discovered Madrigal singers, this is ten years ago. Their final destination was Brazil. They are still in their travelling clothes.

The Philippine Madrigal Singers is a world class choral group. They have won a lot of awards in the past.
Finally! Ive been asking some reactors years back, to take time to react to this phenomenal, and world class group of singers, MADZ the Philippine Madrigal singers! Thank you Ovela, for giving a chance to witness and show everyone how amazing they are. The one with the angelic voice is Kitbiel Pasagui, but unfortunately she's no longer with the group and is currently based in canada.
You should listen more to filipino choir groups.. So many! There are also a choir called loboc, they are children who angelically sing..
I remember attending the vespers (evening prayer service) at my school chapel one time and heard the choir of angels singing. The choir was composed of the convent nuns in our school. I was so in awe and overwhelmed, I thought, I must've died and went to heaven - no exaggeration, it was THAT beautiful!!! It turned out one of the nuns was a former member of the UP Madrigal Singers.

Glad your request was heard. Good job. I’ve heard them sing live back in the 70’s in UP during their practice sessions. They were like angels. Mrs Veneracion was there coach and conductress , who was also the founder of the Madz.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a vivid reaction. Their sound is truly ethereal. Madz is simply my favorite. I am an avid fan since 80s. Our choir cobductor way back is one of their pioneer members and Prof of Mysic at the University of the Phils
The beautiful acoustic of the church helped gave that angelic sound to the song.
They are the real gems of Philippine music. They are arguably the members of the best choir in the universe, and I'm not exaggerating. They are just the tip of the iceberg - you have no idea how many Philippine choirs there are, many of whom have conquered the world's top choir competitions.
I am so lucky that I witness them in our school live singing such a beautiful song.

Wow!! I remember when I was a seminarian. I got a chance to be part of religious people to sing together with the Philippine Madrigal singers during a concert for a cause in our Parish way back 2010 I guess.. such an amazing and unforgettable experience indeed...

Philippine Madrigal Singers is the only choral group in the world that has won twice (Grand Prize) in the World Choral Grand Prix (considered the olympics of choral competitions).

I know they are still around. The Philippine Madrigal Singers was formed in the 70s, by the original choir master, Prof. Andrea Veneracion. They have been competing in choir competitions since then and have been invited to hundreds of choral festivals. If i remember correctly, they come in 4s, SATB, so when they sing, they are around 20members. In the beginning, members usually come from students of the different colleges of the University of the Philippines (U. P.) So their original name was the UP Madrigal Singers. And when they kept on winning in worldwide singing chorale competitions, they were named Philippine Madrigal Singers, to represent the country. I have gone to many of rheir concerts in the 80s and 90s, as i had 3 siblings who became members. And yes, some of their contemporaries became opera singers in the US and Europe. Others have become choir masters of newer Philippine choirs who are now garnering awards from around the world. As usual, your reaction is priceless Ovela. Take care always!😇
