I wasn't there long, but I worked for Lee & Z-Rock in Dallas. What a great time and great memories. (We were waaaay ahead of our time! ;-) Lee has a zillion brilliant ideas and this was certainly one of 'em.
ZRock in its late 80s first incarnation in DFW (broadcast from Gainesville, TX) was the hardest, most raw metal (heavy, thrash, punk) radio I've ever experienced. Free form mayhem, at its finest. Miss you 94.5/KZRK.

Loved this station
I remember Z-rock used to have an extreme hour. Thats where i first heard Possessed Swing of the Axe and Hallows Eve Metal Merchants.
I still have Bumper Stickers, Dog Tags and Z-Rock Bommer Jacket (in perfect shape)!
Got my Metal Malitia dog tag.
I still have 2 t shirts and a lot of bumper stickers
So much fun - it was radio that I listened to in the 60s, but super jacked!
Greatest station ever. And then Grunge ruined it.
This was the greatest Rock stsation ever! We had it on A.M. in NYC, but still great.
