One of my favs from the boys
Lord these guys can’t get any better than they already are !!!!
Wow! WOW!!! This may be one of the best cover songs of ANY song EVER. Wow.
WOW!!!! YOU JUST CAN'T WRONG WITH HOME FREE!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!, THANKS FOR THE REACTION!!!!
Every time Austin hits that high note I get chills ❤
Home Free requires your full attention, visually,,audio and emotionally!
Great Reaction, Love Home Free
Putting the HOMEFREE touch on a classic!
Absolutely ❤️🔥 beautiful 11:11 on clock ⏰️
I love seeing that look of pure joy you got while reacting to this! They do the same to me. Home Free is my favorite group, and I don't just mean my favorite a cappella group. Yes, there are a couple other a cappella groups who are also fantastic. But there is just something extra special about what these men do with their performances.
Great reaction! This is the way this song was originally sat in the b&w prison movie of the mid 1950s called “Unchained” They brought it home in more ways than one.
I loved your reaction! And your picturing someone doing hard time, missing a loved one is accurate. This song was written for the 1955 (?) movie called Unchained. It was about a man in prison, trying to decide whether to do his time, or escape and live life on the run. The fact that Home Free did the video in jail cells was brilliant and I actually felt this song more than other versions. Thank you for a great reaction!
Thanks, I really enjoy these facts, Jeanne!
Home Free-"BLUE AIN'T YOUR COLOR".. is a must
And there's that Home Free smile. This is one of their best, I think.
Their new original song “playing with fire” is quite spicy
They did an AMAZING job❤
The song was written for the movie Unchained. The director refused to have the song in the movie unless the song's title had the title of the movie. Therefore this very sentimental romantic song has the jarring title of Unchained Melody.
I loved how they started with Tim ❤ nobody expects that. Loved your reaction ❤❤
I so look forward to your presentations! It's often the highlight of my mornings.
The talent in this group extends to their video production team.
Marvelous for sure and they are so so good, the doowop was inspired
They used a 50s movie called Unchained for the prison theme.
If you haven't heard them sing "Helplessly Hoping" .... it's stunning.
Home Free is the best. Thank you for your reactions to them
bro you looked like you were ready too cry. beatiful song and reaction my mate :)
Your next from them should be *Brothers In Arms.* Please. In my opinion the best song they've released.
A wonderfully sung and performed cover of Home Free. With their own twist to it, but still keeping the respect for the original. The leads, the harmonies, the Doo-wop, the bass, everything just so good. Also wonderful how they bring back the real story. Beautifully portrayed in black and white and the shadow on the wall of the inhuman Adam
You could not get the smile off your face for the whole song! Sometimes, the simplest reactions are the best.
Encore indeed! A great reaction sir.
You really need to watch Home Free sing MayDay. It is full of surprises!!
This song 🎵 has been covered over 1500 times by 670 artists. Written for the movie Unchained in 1955.
You could tell this hit you, you were wearing your heart on your face during the whole song ❣️
You could tell by your facial expression that this was a true gift to your ears. 😊
Love that little smile you give when you're feeling the music ! Home Free puts that same smile on my face every time ... thanks for this one !
In my opinion, they Are the Best !! I just Loved your gorgeous smile, that is what Home Free does for me. Makes me smile, cry and feel good, I seldom listen to anyone else, there is no need. Would love for you to react to more Home Free, some of the older and of course the new originals. Austin, Tim and Chance are terrific songwriters, on their newest album 12 of the 14 songs were written by Austin and Tim. Would love to see you react to "Playing with Fire" !!!
You are my favorite reaction because of your incredible genuine reactions that make me smile!
Loved your reaction. Austin did a solo cover of this.
Another great reaction!! And I have to say, I'm glad you're throwing in Home Free among other videos slowly. You're not rushing through their amazing catalog. You still have plenty to listen to for sure!!
I agree with you about HF. They just have a way with making a song their own. They went back to the roots of the song. It was originally written for a movie Unchained in 1955 about prison. Loved the typewriter, loved Tim starting and Austin finishing. Tim was just showing a little bit of his 5 octave range. He can sing so low and then sing up with the tenors. Just loved this. Good reaction!!🥰
Home Free went all the way back to the song's origin for the inspiration of their video. The song was written for the theme music of a black and white movie named Unchained released in 1955. It was set in a prison.
The movie is available to be watched on UA-cam.
Loved watching your reaction. The smile on your face, as it was drawing close for Austin to hit that big note, was beautiful to see.
I absolutely love your reactions to Home Free, your smile is infectious and well just so cute‼️🤗 I agree they are incredible at what they do, I feel their harmonies are absolutely top level. I also listen to other a capella groups (vocal bands) and they are wonderful but Home Free as far as harmonies are the best‼️. Thank you for your reactions ‼️🤗 Their new one " Playing with fire " is an original and one I think you should check out immediately 😉 ❣🤗
They just upgrade every cover they sing!! Yes they are the BEST!!
They are paying tribute to the movie Unchained and Todd Duncan sang baritone in that movie.
The version by the Righteous Brothers (rest in peace Bobby Hatfield) popularized the song and I've always loved their music. Home Free puts the song back where it originated (in jail) and in the period (with a kind of doo-wop vibe). As always, their singing, harmonies & beatboxing are terrific! Austin Brown has a solo version of his channel that's sooo good! Thanks for playing this & your comments.
Before Home Free did this, Austin dropped a version of just him singing “Unchained Melody” in his living room, accompanied by guitar.
That could have been the encore. 🙂
Exactly what I was thinking. Austin's solo for the encore.
Absolutely beautiful song and Home Free's take on it!
Home Free is just phenomenal! They have several new original songs recently released. For a little diversion, check out Tim Foust ( their bass singer) and his solo Doo Wop song Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/ Stay or Austin Brown lead tenor) and Rob Lundquist (lyric tenor) Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera. They will blow your mind.
I think you will really enjoy their new song "Playing with fire". It is an original written by Austin
Check out the origin and history of this classic song to hear some of the 1,500 versions of this song .Some of the singers just may surprise you.
Bro - you didn't have a say a word - the expression on your face told me all I need to know - your reaction was priceless!
Without saying a word your face spoke volumes... this version hit me the same way.
These guys really know how to make a song their own while paying homage to the original version - Righteous Brothers (which wasn't the original / see Jeanne brown below)).
Keep up the good work on these guys!
Tim the Bass has a do op album where he sings all the parts. His range is INSANE ❤
Austin Brown has his own version on this song on his page and it’s amazing I think you should give it listen. You will not be disappointed.😊
Love your voice and your reactions. The Righteous Brother's version of this song has been one of my favorite songs since I was little and to me their version equaled it. I'm looking forward to more of your HF reactions- --you only have a couple hundred more to go.
Watching your response to this made my morning coffee so much better. Home Free has, indeed, added a new benchmark to the expression of this iconic song. They simultaneously took it back to its prison origins while making it their own. HF is my favorite of the amazing a cappella bands so popular right now, and while others might join Bobby Hatfield in wrenching the heartstrings, none will top HF's version.
Loved your reaction. Some finally gets the true meaning of this song... I agree with you that Home Free doesn't really change the song they update songs... I have a suggestion for you. Song suggestion is Wayfaring Stranger. Sung by Adam Chance of Home Free featuring Hound and the Fox. It's not a capella but OMG it's beautiful
I see a few original artists you've reacted to recently that our boys here have actually covered! Some are the same songs you reacted to, so SOON might be a good time to watch Home Free's versions while they're still fresh in your memory. 👍😉
Just a few examples from a quick search of your playlist:
"Take Me Home, Country Roads" (John Denver) - I honestly never thought anyone could cover this one and do it justice! They worked on the arrangement for 5 yrs to make sure they got it right. They succeeded beyond my expectations as a huge John Denver fan! Beautiful rendition!
"Brothers in Arms" (Dire Straits) - An absolute masterpiece. 🤯 Hauntingly beautiful with 5-part harmonies that'll touch your soul. (No beatboxing. Adam sings harmony!) If you appreciate Tim's lows, you'll really love this one!
"Children, Go Where I Send Thee" feat. Kenny Rogers!! Kenny reached out to Home Free to help with this song to put on his (last?) Christmas album. It's mesmerizing! Although it wasn't too long before he passed, his voice sounded great! After he passed, HF did "The Gambler" in tribute. Both are definitely worth watching. 👍💞 Watch all the way to the end of the first video to hear Kenny explain how they got together! 😉
"Bless the Broken Road" (Rascal Flatts) - Some of the beautiful sounds they create in this one still leave me awe-struck and I've followed them for years! 😳🎶❤
"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (U2) - this one is on Peter Hollens' channel. His and HF's patrons joined them in this EPIC collab during the lockdowns!! OMG, it's amazing!
"Ain't Going Down ('til the Sun Comes Up)" (Garth Brooks) - You watched Garth do this one. You'll freak out when you hear it a capella!! LOL It's unbelievable what these guys can do and Adam Rupp's drumming and "harmonica" solos (minus a dang harmonica!!!!) are ridiculous!! 😳🤯🔥
Unfortunately, due to copyright issues, it's not on YT. It is, however, on HF's Facebook page and can be reacted to on here. Trust me, it's well worth it! 👍
Ok That's enough. I'll be shocked if you even read this, truth be told. I hope you do, though! You will absolutely be stunned by every single song I've listed here! 🎶😉 You asked what you should do next. Take your pick (or do them all! Lol).
Might as well add a couple of their originals! Lol One from a few years ago and one only a few weeks old. Both are SO good and give a great idea of what these guys can do without it being a cover. 👍
"Catch Me If You Can" (totally different sound and catchy!) and
"Playing With Fire" (a steamy, sexy one with an R&B flair)
I’ve watched other reactors but I love watching your appreciation for the music and the artists! I agree with you 100%.
I love this version and I loved your reaction. You really listen to the words and feel the message. More Home Free please! ❤
Your face tells a thousand stories. Love watching you feel the music and artistry.
I love this take on this song. Seriously enjoyed your reaction and I agree they are the best.
I saw home free live a few months ago and they were by far the best concert I've ever been to.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard … thank you for the share … Home Free bravo excellent job done 🕊👏”
Love your reaction as always! ❤🎉 May I suggest you listen to Austin sing that song per his channel? It's absolutely stunning! I walked down aisle to marry my husband to this song 21 years ago. Needless to say, folks a little surprised but after learning Here Comes The Bride was actually meant as a joke I'm Midsummers Nights Dream, I swore I'd never walk to it and kept my word! Lol! Thank you sweet sir for your reaction! ❤❤
Home Free ARE a vocal band & less an a capella group. As much as I like PTX & Voiceplay, I cannot group HF with them.
They don’t need to take you on fancy vocal arrangements or interpretations. They just reimagine a song they are covering as if it were their own. AND, being a vocal band, the lyrics take front stage & you hear the song differently.
This is so very awesome! Home Free as always put their own spin on this. This song came from the movie in 1955 called Unchained. It is on UA-cam. Love your reaction!
The Righteous Brothers had a big hit with "Unchained Melody" in 1965. Home Free did such a beautiful rendition of this classic song. They added an old school doo-wop feel to it. The video in prison is very fitting as this song was originally written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or finishing his sentence and returning to his wife & family.
You have such joy on your face when you react to Homefree!
You my man, are a thoroughly amazing reactor.
Austin Brown, the second soloist has a great cover of this song on his solo UA-cam channel. He has also released several audio only tracks on his Releases tab of songs he has written.
Brilliant! Beautiful!
I love how they always let the songs speak for themselves. Everything they do is always showing off the song itself 😊. You haven’t really gotten to see Chance show off so I recommend either their cover of “Yours” or their original song “Dive Bar Saints”
Since you did Jonn Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" you should REALLY listen to Home Free's version, it's incredible!
Home Free also just released an original "Playing with Fire" which is so, so, hot!!.
These are both must listens!!!
Actually, this video went back to the original feel of the song which is from a 1955 prison movie called Unchained. That scene from the movie is on youtube. And if you want an encore, check out Austin's version recorded in his home where he was accompanied by Steven Martinez on guitar, released 13 months before this one. Search "Austin Brown Unchained Melody sung like you've NEVER heard before!"
Home Free and their harmonies!! Such powerful visuals and a remarkable version of the song ❤️
I know it hearkens back to the mid-century movie and they portray it spectacularly, but I do hate seeing our guys behind bars. 😕 However, they can definitely "emote" through their music/videos better than just about anyone else out there!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
❤❤❤❤❤. I LOVE them!
What my mind was picturing during the video, was the typewriter symphony, which is hilarious.
I must confess that until you said that, I never put them together, but I'm afraid now I will hear it every time I watch this video. Thanks?
@nancyholter5646 you're welcome? I mean, home free is a great band, but they also have a great sense of humor. And my brain just goes in really weird directions
This was beautiful ❤❤
Smooth......
🖤🍟
This is a nice version, but it was Austin's solo version that introduced me to Home Free originally, his is my 2nd favorite, after the original, of course
Encore!!!
Love it. Best rendition. Like how you don't interupt but let the singing flow. Yeah, these guys are right up there.
Suggestion: Wild Billy's Circus Story by Bruce Sprinstein, the live performance in 1973 in California theater. Annheim?
Thnx for this reaction.
I agree they are the best!
Great cover of a classic song!
Great reatcion! If you seriously want to hear perfect 5 part harmony by Home Free, just listen to Helplessly Hoping, a cover of a Crosby Stills and Nash song. You won't regret.
Actually they stayed true to the original even the 50's style do wop as the song was written as the theme to a 50's prison movie entitled "Unchained". I agree, they are the best at taking any song and making it their own through their unique mastery of harmonization and arrangement plus their vocal talents. Their choice of setting for their videos also fit so well with each song. I am a Home Fry. Loved your reaction and comments. Looking forward to the next reaction. Check out some of their newer releases of original songs they have written. They are great as well.
Enjoy your Home Free reactions. I recently saw them live.
Please listen to Mayday cover by HomeFree
Another song that I feel they brought out the truth in the song.
I injured my back and I’m only 32 this made me smile the whole time and I haven’t smiled in awhile
This was fire
Made my heart ache when Adam was playing with his wedding ring, or where it should have been.
As a fan of Bobby Hatfield's solo of this song on the Andy Williams show (1965, I think), which I have long considered the gold standard; this version is at least as good but in a different way. The song is from a (bad) 1950's movie called Unchained and the song is exactly what these guys represent, but not done nearly as well in the movie. This is a return to what the song was originally about, and they nailed it! The only thing I could wish for as a change was for Austin to go high with backing harmonies at the last note, as Bobby Hatfield did in his three minutes of perfection.
The video is an homage to the original 1950s era prison movie, “Unchained,” from whence the song takes its name.
They did it the original way and the Righteous brother sing it as a more romantic love song
You should try 1 of Tim Foust Album "Pieces of Me".
It is a Doo Wop album.
Just Tim, layering himself.
Then you can see his range.
You should try out Rob and Austin singing opera - Nessun Dorma, really beautiful
Should try there version of CANT STOP THIS FEELING a cover of Justin T
I read somewhere this was written for a movie about someone in prison. I think?
Please listen to Man of constant sorrow by Home free 🙏💕
