G. I. Joes were my # 1 action figures I played with in my childhood in the ‘80s. I also loved The Visionaries, C. O. P. S. ‘n’ Crooks, M. A. S. K., Masters of the Universe, Galaxy Warriors, Wrestling Champions, Karate Kommandos, Rambo: The Force of Freedom, Karate Defenders & Ninja Warriors. My dad spoiled us. I think he use to like them himself. I spoil my daughter the same way. Enjoy your childhood while you still have it. I also collected the Garbage Pail Kids as a kid. I managed to complete the entire set from series 1 to 15. They restarted in the 2000s and I caught the collecting bug again. I ended up completing many of those sets, too. I don’t like the online exclusivity of the latest ones, though. That’s where I gave up.
The Tempest hat is SWEET!! OK, on to business :) He-Man He-Man He-Man He-Man ALL DAY. EVERY DAY. Masters of the Universe was life. All I cared about. Since you asked, I'd say Voltron, Thundercats, and Ghostbusters would be my top 3 additions to the list. Great video, as always!
He-Man and GI Joe were two of my 80’s favorites along with some M.A.S.K, Micro Machines, Viltron and Transformers…… I count the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as 90’s toys, but I’d add them in there too…..
The short lived Action Man, Action Force figures came to mind as popular action figures here in the UK during the early 80s but they'd never replace my Little Big Man with the Alpine Adventure set being my favourite and the closest thing to actually starring in my very own James Bond movie :-) Keep up the awesome work!
I always thought the villains in all these sets were the coolest. My sister was a big Pony collector and OMG do I remember the Cabbage patch frenzy!! She was lucky enough to get one and thanks to marketing I wanted one too (thankfully my parents were smart enough to see through the hype I bought into) Great job on this one
Going to my friends birthdays was the best! We all get goody bags with our name on it and the better relationship you had with that friend the better the goody bag! It was usually carded G.I. Joe, Go Bots, or Battle Beasts.
I loved TMNT, matchbox cars, Nerf Basketball, Nerf ping pong, Nerf Football... those hand held electronic games by Tiger brand from the late 80s.. and i spent hours on my pogo stick!!
GI Joe and TMNT toys are my most memorable. I remember having GI Joe planes, action figures and so on. I literally just found all 4 TMNT 12inch tall toys in my parents house, that have heads that move 360°. Anyone remember those from the late 80s? I didn't until I found them the other day. Great Channel and Content as Usual! Your almost at 10K subs, I'm sharing your videos as much as I can. 🤘🏻👍🏻🇺🇲
Thank you for doing that ZMan! It really does mean a lot. Definitely remember those 12” TMNT figures. Weren’t there also figures that could hold items inside their shells?
Also on CPCs, there was also the promotion the COnneticut LEather COmpany made that Holiday season with their own videogame console. If parents bought a ColecoVision for the son, they also got a Cabbage Patch Kids doll for the daughter for free. That also fueled the flames of the purchasing wars in 1982/1983. Probably sold a hell of a lot of consoles, given how well-received that port of Donkey Kong was.
@@RetroDaze Yeah, I remember begging mum every October to get one from our local Sears, and from JCPenney. I wanna acquire some Montgomery Ward ones, as I never knew of that store until going to Augusta (and a dead mall at the time) that had one.
Both of those are super important! We didn't go with TMNT because they really didn't hit their stride until the '90s rolled around. As for Barbie, she's been around so long she could fit in any decade. LOL
I would think Ertl toys were somewhat popular in the 80s ; like Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, and Ateam might have had some toys made by them to including Kenner toys too, but they were all fun, especially the Dukes of Hazzard 😅
@@RetroDaze yes sir, I guess when it comes to the model cars but I had the little Dukes of Hazzard playsets that were made by Ertl instead of Hot Wheels, I had so much fun pretending Rosco jumping the police car in the Hazzard Pond 😂
Before i watch this, i'm guessing: The big 3 are GI Joe, Transformers, Star Wars. I'll say the list is completed by Barbie and Cabbage Patch Kids. See if i'm right! ** DOH i should have put more thought into "Defining the 80's" in which Barbie was not a part of defining it. I was going off of what i thought probably sold the most. My Little Pony though... never would have thought.

I think between our two childhood collections, we would have had endless hours of entertainment at our fingertips! 😆

MOTU was, indeed, life. It was great to have some of all the lines… but MOTU topped the list always!

Oh….. and of course Thundercats!…… Hoooooooo!
ThunderCats and M.A.S.K. are easily right up there with the big three. The toys AND the cartoons were a lot of fun and really well done.

Thanks Jamie! Action Man is a familiar toy here as well, though it didn’t quite find the success of other toy lines.

Thanks Owl! I don’t think getting ahold of a CPK was as difficult here in no man’s land Ohio, as both I (Tony G) and my sister ended up with one.
I remember every last one of these toys! Thank you so much for bringing the joy back! New Subscriber!
Glad to have you on board! There were more than these five, obviously, but these were some pretty heavy hitters.
Silver hawks, visionaries, M.A.S.K. And thundercats
All great toy lines AND cartoons!
Strawberry shortcake and rainbow Brite
Both were huge in the ‘80s! And both have made returns in modern times.
Going to my friends birthdays was the best! We all get goody bags with our name on it and the better relationship you had with that friend the better the goody bag! It was usually carded G.I. Joe, Go Bots, or Battle Beasts.
What!? Dang! That’s a friend you want to keep on the good side of!
The 1980s, was I lucky to be born during the golden age.
We were all quite lucky to be able to live through those amazing years.
Had da whole Jem & Da Holograms with my fav Da Misfits dolls🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🌃🌃🌃🌃🌃🌇🌇🌇🌇🌇💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯😼

It’s hard to imagine the impact of a promotion like that today. Back then, that would have been HUGE!
12:31 my grandmother fought with another lady to get me my Cabbage Patch Kid.
😂 That’s dedication. Way to go Grandma!
Liked for showing pages from a Sears Wishbook.
Awesome! We love the Wishbooks so much.

The Montgomery Ward ones were just as fun, but just weren’t as magical for some reason.
@@RetroDaze yeah, you can't compete marketing-wise with a name like "WishBook".
Ha! Precisely.
I loved my cabbage patch kid and my little pony. Great time to be a kid.
It truly was. We had access to so much great stuff at a time when that stuff was exploding on the scene.
@@RetroDaze Absolutely 👍🏻
Sea Wees 🧜♀️🧜♀️🧜♀️🧜♀️🧜♀️!!!!! At 56, I still have mine!
Hmmm. Gonna have to look those up.
@@RetroDaze I have to apologize. I just checked the mfg dates on their backs. They're stamped 1979 from C.P.G. I probably got them in the '80s.

Early 80s: Kenner Star Wars, MOTU, Mid 80s: Transformers, G.I.JOE, the real Ghostbusters, M.A.S.K., Thundercats. Late 80s: TMNT
Love them all! Some of the best toys ever!
@@RetroDaze And that's just the big ones! Then you have Visionaries, Starcom, Batman, etc.

Hey, you weren’t far off and all your guesses were solid ones.
Charmkins Polly pocket lot
no teddy ruxpin? or rubix cube?
This was a list of toy LINES, requiring more than one item (figures, vehicles, playsets, etc.).
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!!!! Cowabunga!!!!
The Turtles didn’t come along until the late ‘80s though.
I love lots a lots a leggggggs❤️. I have a few.
Wow! Hadn’t heard of this until now!
@RetroDaze Did u look at a pic?
Yes! We added this to our growing list.
